Rabbits will never find those potatoes!
So what's going on in your vegetable garden right now?!
I clipped chives, bronze fennel and oregano into my salad greens this morning.
Yum....really love the fennel. My sage lived through the winter, but is kind of puny. Will cut more asparagus tomorrow.
Interesting mater info:

Temperature.
Yes.
Sherrie, if I read it right....they are saying that tomatoes grown at a certain temp. but with less sunlight grow as well as tomatoes grown in more sun light. Anotherwords, it's not so much the amount of sunlight as it is a consistant temperture.
Yes - that's the bottom line.
Hmmm. Then with global warming - tomatoes should be getting bigger and better?
You mean global cooling??
If you keep the soil warm, do you have to keep the plants above ground warm as well?
Has anyone ever used DE in their radish beds to reduce pest damage, it looks like some kind of little worm, borer, or larva chewed them. I know it's not good for earthworms but it's also bad for grubs ,slugs, and other crawling things.
Maybe some one knows of so kind of drench thats safe on veggies? Ric
If you can see the worm or caterpillar, try BT.
Thanks Victor. I did read that a floating row covers may help, I just wasn't prepared for them. Someone in the veggie forum mentioned using political sign frames as supports, which sounded like a good idea to me. Ric
Depends which party. ^_^
I figured I would throw the banner away and make them non- partisan. LOL Ric
Are they attacking anything else other than radish?
next weekend will be planting weekend for us - today i got the four rows of poles and wires installed for the 48 t-plants, holes dug too and put in all the stakes for peppers, eggplants, and basil. cuke trellis is up and in too.
I'll probably do the veggies this week too.
Me, too.....but I not planting much, & I won't buy the tomatoes until Fri. at WFF Tomatomania.
I have peas coming up from seeds that I saved last year. Woo Hoo! Broccoli from the farmers market survived the transplant. There might be a ripe strawberry tomorrow if the squirrels don't find it first. Still eating asparagus. Put up a chicken wire fence around the potato bed to try a new method of growing potatoes that I read about - keep adding leaves to the potatoes as they grow until the leaves reach the top of the fence. I'm going to give it a try.
No Victor they are not.I'm afraid I'm going to have to use the row covers next round. The lettuce, spinach, and other crops are affected. Ric
Have to thin the beets & carrots today, also want to plant the beans, squash, & cukes.
I picked up tomatoes, peppers, basil, white eggplant, lettuce and Swiss chard. Will plant them on Thu when it's cooler.
I just watered my tomatoes & peppers...picked lettuce a few days ago....beet greens will be ready next.
found my first hard shelled turtle beetle on the egg plants - hate this little basta.............s
Yuck.
i killed between my fingers - will use a lethal synthetic spray tomorrow
Got tomatos, peppers and lettace today. Also picked up lime basil, terragon and oregano.
Went to visit the man who grows veggie and flower plants for sale. I think it is his only income and he has some relatives living with him that are pretty crazy. He didn't have much yet so I bought corn and soem lettuce. The corn is doing good in my neighbors yard and maybe a bit of the lettuce will survive - it is supposed to be 90 here today!
Lime basil is nice, Jumper! Was the corn growing in flats, Memory?
In six packs. the guy charges $1 for a six pack. I checked yesterday and the corn was all doing well. I had three lettuce plants left this morning and I covered them lightly with leaves to protect them from the sun. (Fingers crossed) In the bed with the corn is volunteer squash/pumpkin/cucumbers (they all look the same to me when they are little). I need to put in seeds for pumpkins and cucumbers this weekend. The neighborhood kids have already asked me if I am growing pumpkins this year! And my neighbors LOVE cucumbers so I always put in some just for them.
Planted tomatoes last weekend. Planted corn and bush beans today. Will wait til Friday to plant squashes and cukes, peppers and eggplants. Pea vines are looking really good and the beets will have to be thinned shortly. To bloody hot to enjoy working outside. Been busy planting and moving perennials and annuals. DW has also. Got a perennial plant swap to go to tomorrow evening - usually interesting
Good luck at the swap....won't go into the garden today, everything is wilting including me! Memory, hope you have enough pollination for the corn, otherwise it will be dwarfed.
I planted them pretty close together so they will touch each other in the wind. First time I have ever tried growning corn - maybe I will just grow big sticks instead. I have a favorite runner bean that can grow up them if they are sticks. :)
Yank...corn is extremely easy. You'll be surprised ^_^
