Elphaba: Great shot of the Cormorant or Aningha. I should know which it is ... we have lots of both down this way too but I'd have to google for pic's to figure out which is which, LOL.
I love the yellow belly on that Fly Catcher ... I've never seen one, he/she is sure a pretty one!
I was out planting up some flower beds this afternoon and wish I'd had my camera handy ... a gorgeous hawk flew through the shrubbery and grabbed a bird, probably another dove. It wasn't the Sharp Shinned Hawk that I got some good shots of a few weeks ago but looked to be a Red-tailed Hawk, very fast and beautiful.
There's part of an old steel pole/pipe out by the fence in the backyard from one of those huge dish satellites my husband had years ago. The pipe fills with water when it rains or when the irrigation system is on and the backyard birds like to perch and drink there. I've seen all kinds of birds drinking from it but today the Red-bellied Woodpecker decided to stop in for a drink. I didn't get a shot of him with his head down inside the pipe, thought I did but it's gone. Anyway, here he is hanging on the side after his drink:
Daily Pictures Volume # 302
Nice ones Lin! That is really cute them drinking from there.
I yelled at my husband for years to take that dang pole all the way out of the ground ... he had one of those huge satellite disc's back in the late 70's and part of the pole is still in the ground ... but I guess I shouldn't complain, at least the really tall, ugly pole that rose above the trees holding that huge ugly disc is gone and what's left is serving a purpose for the birdies!
^_^
Great job everyone! Wonderful photography, amazing bird photos!!!
Gary, how fortunate to be able to see a kettle of hawks. Love that Phainopepla.
Lily_love, they are such pretty shots of the House finch in amongst the blossoms.
Wild Rose, I really enjoyed the zoo shots, especially the Toucan and the Mandarin ducks. Love your pic of the osprey.
Duc, every time I see your photos I want to rush out and buy a 7D. Love them all, but especially the Bald Eagle and the Tree Swallows.
Hey Nanny, good flight captures of the Grackle. Fancy getting a Pileated for your birthday. What a treat.
GP, they Red-bellies are so sweet. Gorgeous little catbird.
Burd, Mr Cooper is such a handsome fellow. Good flight shots of the Canada Goose.
Elphaba, your photo of the Golden Crowned Night Heron really shows what it was named for.
Al, your Cardinal shots are absolutely fabulous. Love them all.
Dave, your photos always leave me breathless, but that shot of the Bluebird sitting on top of the Bradford Pear is one of the most beautiful photos I've ever seen.
Lin, how funny the birds using the old pipe as a water source. Nice shots.
I've still not got anything new to post, so here's a White-cheeked Honeyeater from several months ago.
Beautiful shot of that lovely bird Margaret!
I also learned something new; the Redbellied Woodpecker will swallow the shelled peanut whole as-it. No picture though.
Nanny, I'm so impressed that you are growing as a photographic artist. One day I want to grow too!
Aw shucks...but Thank you!
I am just really playing with settings and all the little buttons...I may not really I understand WHAT I am doing but am learning from the results..... what seems to help and what doesn't! LOL

Margaret: Love the face on that Honeyeater, lovely bird!
Lily: Great series of that little Tufted Titmouse, the second shot is really nice. I think they have such expressive faces, wish they weren't so quick so I could get a decent shot of one!
