Hi Lily, Thanks for starting the new thread!

I love your "awful" pics!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

"Won't you stay awhile? what's the hurry?" The housefinch said to the Brown-headed Nuthatch. While the Goldfinch doesn't mind one way or the other. lol.

Bad lighting can often be repaired in photoshop!

They are not awful at all Lily. Just distant. :-)

My cat got closer to the Phoebes today than I could. Just haven't learned how to stalk yet.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

I agree, they're not that bad Lily.

This goldfinch decided to shake the back end just as I snapped the picture.

LOL, I love this thread ... a perfect spot for me since most of my pictures don't come out as I'd like! One of these days I'm going to give photoshop a try but even photoshop can't help some of my pictures! ^_^

ducbucln: Love that little dancing Goldfinch!

Here's one of mine from a couple of days ago. This Blue Jay decided to take off just as I clicked:

And, this one I call my "Angel Jay"

This is one of a Blue Jay that snatched a peanut from one of the feeders and took off as I was snapping the picture!

Here's one where a Cardinal & Blue Jay startled each other

A Red-bellied Woodpecker snatching a raisin from the feeder. This one you can at least tell what it is ... I think I had shaky hands this day.

Cute and funny! I especially enjoyed that "Angel Jay".

Marlton, NJ

I enjoyed the Angel Jay too. Nice ones Lin!

(Zone 1)

The Angel Jay was kinda neat ... now this one not so much! This one is kind of eerie ... to me it looks the blurry flying woodpecker is missing it's head!

HA!!! You do have a lot of headless birds there Lily!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Who said only Fisherman could say "It was the big one that got away!"? I say, birder (like myself) think it was the one that flew off was the one that I was focused on. lol.

Hehehe, on that previous post that Dove was the biggest one, and darkest one I've seen of the familiar Mourning Doves. Yup, a mourning Dove. lol

Yep, there's definitely a BB in there, nanny. Never thought nearsightedness from younger years would come in handy...LOL
Hey Lin, instead of a no-head Woodpecker, did I see a double-headed one? Your Goldfinch shaking tail feathers takes the cake.

(Zone 1)

Here's one I took yesterday. We have part of a metal pole in the backyard that was from one of those huge satellite disc's from the late 70's, early 80's. I kept asking my husband to remove the thing but there it still stands. I don't even notice it anymore and when it rains or when the irrigation system is on, the pipe is full of water. I have two birdbaths out in the backyard but the birds like to drink from this pipe too. I'm hoping to have my camera in hand some time when the water level isn't right at the top ... it's funny to see a bird stick it's entire head down into the pipe for a drink. Anyway, this Red-bellied Woodpecker stopped by for a drink yesterday. I don't know if this is blurry because he was bobbing his head in and out of the pipe or if the camera was shaky, LOL.

This Jay decided to dive down to the feeder just as I snapped the picture.

Plantlady and Lily, I think your pictures are still cute!

I was out on the deck taking photos of the hummers, but they were too busy to worry about me as they were fighting each other.

This one moved as fast as the click of the camera.
