I have moved from Flan to something stronger... Billy is staying with his mother the wind is howling and there is a chance of snow.. Cant think of a better way to spend a yucky night then what I am doing now..

we have 4 pips total now. They are LOUD when they talk. The one that started piping at 4:23... has only pushed the shell off that spot & nothing more we can see. but they are definitely loud.

o trust me we are talking! we talk then they talk.. back & forth. Its sooo cute! I can see a beak on one.. she pokes it out the hole when she talks barely. That's last one to pip too.. i'm worried about the first one. its been 7 hrs since it piped.

figured out the problem with the rh not staying up!!!! those little clear panels in the lid were in crooked... well i kinda pushed on one & it popped down straight... so we tried the other & now the rh is coming up! grrrrrr why couldn't i have tried that days ago!
Oh Hay I am not alone, Next to me is Roper (Billy's new dog) on the couch is Boozer, My heeler, on the cat post is Blackie Billys cat, in my bedroom is 6 chicks of various names that keep changing each day, In the bater across the room from me is 13 eggs... then there are my friends in my computer...
So see I am not alone.
Oh and I am celebrating at home which is a real good thing.

Humidity is helping it stay up probably. Needs to go down a smidge...
should not be a problem at this point at all, but if you are concerned just lift the lid slightly and let a little heat escape. Or pull the red plugs out. I am here to celebrate with both of you. So Miss J your at the Country Zoo are you...lol
6th pip... figured it out.. they talk & yell & fuss... then they pip.. then they shut up.. worry me.. we talk & wake them up.. they talk some more.. sleep some more... ugh!

found the cutest thing.. one of the kids wanted to see a chicken hatch.. so just incase she wouldn't be here we went to youtube & searched.. found one with sound.. chickie sound! my laptop is like 12 inches from the eggs.... so we were watching & found out that MY hatching eggs will ANSWER the video when it chirps!

as u can tell.. haven't had my coffee yet.
we went to bed at 3 am (2am normal time, had time change) 6 pips... woke nearly every 2 hrs to them yelling at us. Then about 8am.. they started ziping.. i slept..let the kid sleep.. but they got so very loud at 10 am we just had to get up.
now i feel icky eating eggs & watching them hatch.. but ya.. its all I got for breakfast.
skipped church... I'm afraid one would die if I left so I'm staying put!

You need a time lapse. LOL They do take forever... sometimes they pop out like popcorn, sometimes it seems to take all day..
What colors are you seeing?? I bet you are just glued to the bator huh? How fun!!

Wow!! Lots has happened while I was sleeping! Congrats Grey! Go chickies, go chickies, go chickies. I probably won't be able to check in again until this evening. My great-nieces are coming over today....fun times!
4 chickies in chick ICU. 1 black, 2 cream & 1 black & cream spotted one. 1 more to hatch, 4 more pips..
BUT we had a minor power outage... temp dropped to 88* its back up now.. & they are chirping again..
but i was very bad & grabbed a newly hatched chick out of the bator & shoved it into ICU due to low temps in the bator. I figured it had a higher chance of survival if it was warmer.

Keep an eye on the humidity! Very critical now, since there are still pips in there!!! That is a big drop in temp.. I hope you got it up again quick! What is ICU? I'm lost.. but I hope all is okay now..
Congrats on the 4 hatchlings! Very exciting..
If how they behave after they hatch and the temp drops (burnt out light bulb) is indicative, they probably will recover strongly if you can get the temp right up.
I've had a few hatches where the temp shot up to 110/112. I thought all was lost, but the high temp seemed to really jazz the chicks and the viable ones popped right out.
ya.. 111 & suddenly i had 3 zip right away like let me out now. 1 shrink wrapped so i did a bit of help but its in the brooder (ICU) and seems to be very strong.
6 in the brooder, 1 in the bater drying, 2 trying to finish zipping & 1 more pip as of right now.

7 in brooder, 2 drying/whatever in bator, 1 hatching & 2 new pips, 1 death, hatched then died an hour later
ZZ's, ICU= intensive care unit...lol Way to go Grey, one hatch almost under your belt. Each one gets easier, and easier. We got babies!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah.
