Welcome to the new Bird Pics Daily thread. This is a continuation of the most recent thread that can be found at the following link if you wish to re-visit and look at some fine photos.

This past Saturday, despite decent weather, I had a frustrating day in that 80% of photo opportunities were backlit. However, sometimes you are able to salvage a photo that otherwise would be discarded. I'll start the thread with a Great Blue Heron that turned out to be just a silhouette in the sky. But, I like it ........
DAILY PICS - Vol. 294
You can hear them coming, sometimes before you see them. Here is a huge flock of Canada Geese descending on Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, in late afternoon. A week before there were 11,000 Snow Geese present. This past weekend, I saw about half a dozen. But, they have been amply replaced by Canada Geese. They were everywhere.
linthicum - thanks for starting a new thread. I tell you the truth, that sequence of the GB Heron flying low across the water is great!

Here are some more of my pix from Cooper Creek Park.
Here's a collage I made of male and female Ring-necked Ducks. There were lots of them on the lake.

Gp, nice shots! Really like the Grackle shot with those color's.
Nice shots everyone on the last thread!!
Not much activity around my feeder's other than the Starlings I usually see but just haven't had the time lately to watch. Got a pic of a Mr. Cooper the other day.
Nice one Burd!
Nice one of the Hawk. It surprises me how small their beak seems to be. Small but deadly.
Double-breasted Cormorants . . . I think the two pale colored ones are juvies.
Yep, juvs

Love the opening shot for this thread, Linth....nice composition!
Hack....love all of the water birds. Looks like that CG was thinking about charging you!
Gardenpom....you're so lucky to have painted buntings; never seen one here :(
Nice shot of that Coopers, Burd. I have a Sharp-shinned and a Coopers around but I can never get my camera in my hand fast enough to snap them. And if I go out in the yard, they disappear.
We are expecting more snow tonight so the yard has been hopping. The light isn't so great right now...I'll wait until later. My group of 4 bluebirds went down to 2 last week with much courting behavior and nestbox inspecting etc. Now, there is another female in the yard. Can't tell if she is one of the daughters or a different female but these 2 girls are fighting over the food and the box like crazy. He sits off to the side and stays out of it....LOL
Here's the 2nd female:
Nanny....love the brown creeper shot! I only see them in the winter and haven't seen a single one this year. SO cute!!
Awesome Nanny. I've never seen a creeper at my suet, but it is not on the trees. I think the squirrels would make off with it.
Yesterday I saw 5 bald eagles. Two adult, the other Juvies. Only halfway acceptable shots were of this second year eagle. I wonder if it is missing a feather in that left wing.
