Only 18 days until spring! Let's keep it going.
Clem Will Goodwin.
Countdown to spring! One Photo per Day Part 12
Life is good today.I downloaded Nikon Panorama Maker and cant seem to stop making them.
Fantastic Pixi
Victor, How many clems do you have? All are gorgeous. Do you stake them all or let them scramble up shrubs?
Celeste, that Dark and Dangerous is something else.
Now that one mystery is solved for me, here is another. I bought this thing without knowledge of it's bloom for the foliage. It was and impulse buy, which I don't usually do. I planted it in a hot bed of colors and then it bloomed pink. eee kkk. I snatched it up and moved it, but not with it's tag. No idea of what it is. Quite nice, well behaved. Blooms late May/early June for about 3 weeks. I just hope it is not another noxious weed. Patti
not sure what that is patti except that it looks very nice with the variegated foliage!
Love those dark ones - like a mysterious woman from a film noir!
Great beauties, Patti and Jen!
Patti - over 60 at last count. Most go through shrubs.
Is it a variety of Lichenes? Mine has woolly leaves and darker color.
Looks like a bladder campion. They are weeds here but that one is pretty. Could be this one. http://zipcodezoo.com/Key/Plantae/Silene_Genus.asp
Here is more info on the plant. Scroll down to see variegated form. http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/2223/

Ngam, Bingo! Thanks, Patti
Sorry - that clem should be Ice Blue, not Blue Ice.
Gorgeous color! I'm not a big fan of dahlias (don't like ten thousand petals!) but they do have great color.
*gasp* don't let d-nut hear you say that!
I like the single ones.
Yes - that's acceptable!
That's not too bad either.
Hee hee! Nice colors. Nice drops. But...
Beautiful WC! I'll just keep my feelings on clems and crepes to myself! ^_^ Tee-hee
Ha ha. Don't have to dig them up every year!
The problem with so many petals (aside from it just not being my cup of tea) is that unless you stake them, they flop with a mist!! Or a sneeze.
I like the dark daylilies too, in spite of their burning in the sun and the thrips tracks they sometimes get. And the stubborn fertility of old Ed Murray-I finally got one maybe tet seedling last year but only that one out of five seeds germinated. And I can't seem to get any more seeds from Ed with Pardon Me, I don't know what her problem is--old age? Catherine W proved a great daddy last year though?!? Here are her chillun---------------
Great pics, everyone!
Patti, I believe Pat is right on your Silene. I bought the same one last year. I love it. Here is the link to it in Plant Files: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/63542/
Weedy, if Catherine Woodbury is a she, wouldn't she be a Mommy? LOL!
Victor, I was never a big fan of dahlias myself, but their starting to grow on my. They really are beautiful. I just don't like the idea of digging anything up in the fall when I have so many other chores to do, and such a big place, and only me to do most of it. I may actually get some this year, though. I have my eye on one called 'Peaches And Cream'. I also like a lot of the smaller ones that don't need staking, the ones with fewer petals that you find acceptable, Victor.
Karen
'Orchid Corsage'
Great color there, Karen. Glad I'm not alone!! ^_^
Can I chatter as long as I don't post a photo?? My wife says I am a garrulous old -----never mind, you probably got it! I think a person could go on learning forever in a garden. I thought dahlias were a pain and took too long to bloom then I bought a big yellow, something Floodlight-----huge blooms, learned right away stake them,!! Huge flowers, fell all over every thing, same last year. This year tall' stout, stakes, tie right to the top, maybe potash?? Clems I avoided, seemed too much for my slap-dash care, daylilies are independent some-what. Then I saw Betty Corning, decided to plant her on a rose. Wrong. Too big, to pale for Morden blush. Will trellis her I think and try to find the violet one further back, might look good with New Dawn-------------------------Weedy
Betty Corning is a great one. If I were to pair it with a rose, it would be with a darker rose. I have The President with New Dawn. Very nice.
It's fine with me if you chatter, Weedy. It's always nice hearing what other people have to say about their gardening experiences.
Karen
BTW, thanks, Victor.

Some lovely photos today, folks! Patti, don't feel too sorry about the loosestrife---I bought one from U. of New Hampshire many years ago---it was supposed to be sterile, but then I learned none of them are---I finally dug it up last year---but then I read an article about a beetle that was imported to eat & destroy the loosestrife---apparently it's working---there seemed to be much less last year.
Robindog, Thanks, I just can't believe it never dawned on me that it was Lythrum salicaria or the hated Purple Loosestrife. Yep, digging it up.
So what will these beetles eat when they have finished eating all the purple loosestrife?????? Scary thought.
Maybe we could get those beetles to eat these bad boys and girls. This one was in the front yard this afternoon, but not in the fenced off part. Up to no good browsing on the cedars. Patti
I have gooseneck loosestrife. It's well past digging.
