DOG-slow today lloading some forums-is this just me?

Gilroy (Sunset Z14), CA(Zone 9a)

Is it just me, or is there something new disrupting loading of some forums today? When I click on some they say they're at 100%, but the little green bars never go away, and there's something new in the URL line (...media6...). I was able to load this forum OK, but others I tried (Photography, Pottery & California Gardening) I had to give up on. They seemed to get stuck at the "loading pictures" phase.

Can you tell me if this is an issue with my ISP, or with DG?

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

I haven't had any issues today and there have been no other helpdesk reports.

Try clearing cache and/or rebooting. You might try another browser if you have one and see if it happens on both.

Let me know what happens.

I'm on IE at work and everything is running fine for me...

The site has been pretty slow for me too. I just cleared my cache as Melody advised, now it's better.
Thank you for that reminder Melody. I always forget about this!

The newsletter generated a lot later than usual today. I don't know that it would have caused performance issues with the rest of the site, but that's the only thing I can think of. Speaking personally I haven't noticed anything.

Now, when I tried to order some square Fiestaware from a department store, I kept running into slowdowns, timeouts and finally SQL errors.

Either God's trying to tell me something, or my husband paid the store to block my access ;o)

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Ha ha ha - maybe it's a test to see just how badly you want that Fiestaware - lol...

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

(whispering) really, really bad.

In my defense, I've used my (round) Fiestaware (and faux Fiestaware) plates for two decades now, day in and day out. The only time they catch a break is for a few holiday meals when the good china gets trotted out.

Our younger son is planning to move out this summer, and he will happily take my hand-me-downs (he's eaten off them his entire life so they're like old friends.)

I think it's time for some new casual plates at our house. Can I get some support here, please?

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

I definitely think you deserve a new set of plates Terry!

Thanks!!! *grin*

Okay, more seriously - if anyone else is experiencing noticeable slowdowns, timeouts, etc...please do let us know. A few isolated problems are probably not anything to be concerned about (unless you happen to be one of those reporting a problem!) but if there's a pattern of problems, we need to know that.

I remember Mondays were always really slow because Dave ran all of the reports...are those reports still being run? That could be the problem with slowness.

Well, of course immediately after I finally said, "I'll set up a thread and ask," everything started running smooth as silk....just like taking the car to the mechanic for a noise!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

threegardeners, yes - there are still weekly reports that generate on Mondays ;o)

I was noticing really long waits before DG went offline for some work last week...

It's still been slow for me more often than not... maybe not "dog slow" LOL, but everything is taking 2 or 3 times longer than it seems it should. (Every so often, a page loads quickly to remind me that most of them are taking longer.) It's not long enough usually to cause a time-out on my server, but it's slow enough at time (maybe 5 to 10 seconds, and when it's good it takes less than a second) that I click over to another web page while I'm waiting and then back to DG (guess I get bored fast).

Cache isn't the issue. I figured I'd comment tonight because this late on a Thursday, it doesn't seem like there could be a high traffic load or anything to slow down the site.

Anybody else think things are a tad slow?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Jill, most everything is being discussed here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1081814/ - that may be the best place to continue this one, too.
