Daily Pics #291
Duc, Love ur Oak Titmouse. We don't have those here (North Central Texas). The Bushtit feeder was actually in the Davis Mountains State Park in Fort Davis, TX. I asked them what they put in the feeder and I was told peanut butter, lard & cornmeal. That State Park is about 415 miles Southwest of where I live, so all those birds are new to me, except the RR. I thought they were pretty neat, too:)
To those with BB nesting experience, do you clean out your nesting boxes after they are empty? I had a nesting pair last year for the first time, so I'm new to the BB business. Also, how close do you put your feeding station to the nesting box? Thanks!
Here's a WWD pic from my big snowstorm on 2/12.
Well I am back and I had success!! I wish the photos were better but less than ideal photo weather and I just couldn't get the settings right for the conditions today!
Horned Lark!
Congrats Nanny!!
Yah Nanny! congrats. THat's a way closer pix than I got. Did they seem nervous at all?
Burd, see what you've started?
;)
Stick with those Horned Lark's and field's for the Lapland's and when it starts to warm up you may also see American Pipit's on their migration to Canada.
Nice shots all!!
Missy, Neat shot of the White-winged Dove! And yes you do clean out the nest box after everyone fledges each time. Looking forward to your pictures!
Hi Everyone, Because of people coming in here that are new to bird watching lets try not to get in the habit of using abbreviations for birds names. It will make it a lot easier for them.
Thank you! ^_^
Nanny - Great shot of the vulture.
Missy, Here's a post up in the Bird Watching sticky about the bluebird houses (from 2dCousinDave)

We took our dogs for a walk at our local state park and I had to bring the camera. Sure was slim pickens as far as waterfowl and birds. My husband and I agreed that on this afternoon, there were more birds at our house. Guess we should have made the ride earlier or later in the day when the birds weren't sleeping.
We were in a small channel off the lake when we spotted this Double-crested Cormorant sunning himself.
This first photo shows how far away we were from him.
TIME TO CLOSE THIS THREAD.
Enjoy all the above photos, but post any comments here:
