Burn, that last shot is very nice! That Blue Spruce gave out the blue coloring nicely.

Marlton, NJ

Wonderful shots Lily, GP, Hack, Burd and Burn!

Nice start burn! I keeping hoping that someday I will see an Evening Grosbeak. The Rose-breasted Grosbeaks will be here before I know it. I am stocking up on safflower seed for them!

I got a nice series of this female Cardinal on Valentines day on the feeder right outside the back window.

GP, it's a treat for me to see your Buntings. I don't know if they venture down here in my neck of the woods.

Hack, such a variety of birds. And the nicely put together collages. Through your pictures of the different Sparrows I'm learning ... thank you.

Burd, love the flying Canadian Geese shot, the "residents" especially.

Marie, the lovely White-Throated Nuthatch is a hoot when they mozy down a tree head-down. They seem to prefer the shelled peanuts at my feeder. Lately my feeder attracted a Brown-headed Nuthatch (which I learn from Hack), but it's so quick I wasn't able to capture a pix of one.

Here is one of my first shots on this over cast morning; the Redbellied WP at the seeds feeder.

These are my "usual" residents. Among them the housefinches, Carolina Wrens, Nuthatches, Turfted Titmice, Carolina Chickadees and various Sparrows as I'm learning about different species of sparrows.

She is very pretty Lily! I haven't seen any of my female Red-bellied Woodpeckers lately.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Rose, I set out mealworms for my BBs. After a whole day ... they were finally discovered by the Carolina Wrens (as was last year). I need to get these guys to the Opthamologist for a check up. lol.

Pelle, last month was the first time I saw Redbellied and Redheaded WPs here together. Normally if I see one, I miss out on the other, and vice versa. Currently I only see the Redbellied and Downies...

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

On the last thread, Red, wonderful photos of the geese, cardinal and finches.
Chris, I'm so jealous you're able to photograph the kestrels!
Lily, I the love herons. Glad you're enjoying them too.

Burn, what a wonderful start of the new thread! Love the waxwing and the grosbeaks are so colorful! Cute one of the redpolls too!
Lily, cute oriole. Mine should be here next month and I'm so anxious to see them. That red-winged is sure beautiful.
Gp, good one of the swallow. I tried to get some of my birds with the new camera and they didn't turn out. These birds don't know how to fly slow! Love the grackle and that bunting is so cute.
Hack love your collage of the robins. Great job. I'm impressed with the variety of birds you're seeing.
Burd, great captures of the geese in flight! Love that last picture!
Burn, love that first photo of the wp-adorable. Cute chickadee too!
Marie, adorable nuthatch!
Nanny, very cute Ms. Cardinal photos! She's a beauty!
Lily, your wp is gorgeous!

My Mourning Doves were searching for seeds.

Duc, thanks. I so enjoyed the turkeys pix on your last thread. Next to Hack, you do have many a variety of backyard birds I see. Thanks for sharing them.

Got cha! Woohooo, I finally able to capture this quick moving Brown-headed Nuthatch.

Light is so poor I haven't tried to take any pics the past few days. Here is a pic from a couple of days ago of 2 House Finches on the flower feeder. Thinking of moving it to the back yard and putting some mealworms in it for the BBs. Whaddayathink? Would a BB look good on that pink flower?

Oh yes! That's an inspiration. Go Red go!

Marlton, NJ

Lily, Love your Bluebirds and Brown Nuthatch!

Duc, Great shots! I love the sweet Junco!

Red, Pink and Blue go great together!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

GOOD GRAVY! you all are really chugging along.

Well, I can't comment on them all, but well done

I have a single Pine Siskin again today. and about 13 gold finch.

Very nice Mrs Ed! I haven't seen Pine Siskin here for awhile along with Goldfinch.

I was at the bird store today telling the owner how I haven't seen any Goldfinch for almost a month despite having 2 nyjer feeders up (with fresh seed) along with 3 other seed feeders. When I got home I changed 1 of the feeders to the upside down feeder and within 25 minutes I had 4 Goldfinch show up! Probably just a coincidence but weird none the less. Here are a few pics.

No sun today and taken through the window. I was so surprised and happy to see them.

Last year the GF's here fed almost exclusively on thistle, this year they pretty much ignored it and fed almost exclusively on black sunflower seed. I eventually replaced the thistle feeder with SF. Talked to a friend a few miles away the other day and she said her thistle feeders have almost no finches this year. I suggested she try some SF. I usually try to keep out a little bit of everything so they can take their pick.

I usually have 40 or so GF's on a daily basis.

Marlton, NJ

Hi Red, I have 2 nyjer (thistle) feeders and 3 SF feeders. They normally eat from all of them.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

well mine are pigging out on thistle. *shrug*

Marlton, NJ

I'll have to go through my photos and see when the last time was they were here.

Edit to say: Close to 2 months ago they were here.

Duc..that junco is so pretty!!

My goldfinch usually have preferred SF in the winter but this year they have been eating the thistle seed more. Both are available to them.

I was coming home from shopping today and went by the cornfield.....Horned Larks sighted for sure today!!!! I am going to try to go out tomorrow and hopefully see them again and get a bad shot or two!

How about a bad Brown Creeper shot to hold ya over! lol

yippeeeeeeeee. the horned lark brigade is happenin! Next up is snow buntings and lapland longspurs. Burd has got us addicted.

South Hamilton, MA

Glad they are around even if they don't come this far east. No prairie's here.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Lily, great photo of the nuthatch!! Love it!
Red, the finches look so pretty in that pink dish. I'm sure the bbs would love the dish too!
Mrs Ed, what a cute pine siskin with the finches.
Pelle, funny way to get the goldfinches, but it worked! Window photos are better than nothing!
Nanny, that creeper sure blends in with the tree trunk. Great job spotting it.

I'm still not giving up on my BBs finding the meal worms. I placed the feeder (white ceramic), a few yards below the suet feeder, with meal worms by the Cherry tree where the Eastern Blue Birds perch. Hopefully one of these days they will find them. At the mean time I believe the Carolina Wrens are having a banquet with the meal worms. lol.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

If the Wrens didn't find the mealworms, this female Cardinal may have. Though, it seems to me the BBs are much more friendlier. They perch right on top overhead while I work out in the garden. Used to they were very shy birds to get up close and personal with.

Duc, your BJ is cute. Mine still stay far away from the feeders for some reason. Whole peanuts lure them to distance view. But they haven't venture close enough for a taste.

Marie, and Lily so glad you got the cute Nuthatch.
Nanny, wow on the close up of the female Cardinal, She's pretty. Wishing you good hunting tomorrow, for the Horned Lark.
Pelle they must of kept away, b/c of all the storms you got, this winter.
Duc I like that pic with the Dove stretching. And the lovable Junco.
Red, looking forward to see the bluebirds, on that dish. It will make a great color combination.
Mrs Ed, not fair, you got a Sisken this year!?! ;(

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Yes, good luck to you Nan with the bird sighting tomorrow. Burn, I don't know where my Pine Siskins have gone too. Haven't seen them for quite a while now. Here is a male Housefinch next to the B. Oriole.
