Linth, that first cardinal shot took my breath away!

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Wonderful pictures here again today. The titmouse is my favorite, too. I have so many of those cute little birds at my house, not many finch, but loads of tit'meese'. LOL

Thanks Nanny, good to be here. Wow, you really got hold of that camera in a hurry. Love the WP. Rose, Linth, Dave, everyone, I just love your pictures.

Nice Shots Everyone!! Dave thanks for starting the new thread! Love that first Waxwing shot on the last thread! Like your action shots also! Great shots on that last thread everyone!
Elphaba, nice shot of your Pine Warbler in the pine!
jhowdy, I have spent too much time trying to get a decent shot of a Belted Kingfisher, nice capture!
Linth, nice collection... your Cardinal shots are breath-taking! I have been getting a lot of Grackle shots also...the coloring just keep's me wanting more. I will be starting a thread with Grackle's probably tomorrow night/wednesday morning...so post away when you get a chance!
Nanny, really like the picture of Apolo!...looks like he's just laying back against the tree and day-dreaming or thinking of the good ole days.
Dirt, nice capture of those 3...they look like their thinking.. ok, now what? lol

Lately its been me on the hunt for Lapland Longspur's, but over the weekend I did get some shots. I also took like a few hundred Grackle shots..will be making a seperate thread once I get them resized.

Start of with a special visitor from this past weekend. Yellow-rumped Warbler

lovely bird pics. I've never seen a pine warbler. I wonder if they get up here in the summer, plenty of white pines in the area.

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Wow Burd! All the pix are great, but that last shot is fantastic!

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

Nice series, Burd. Good catch on the Blue Jay. I'll be ready for your thread with a few Grackle shots. The iridescent color variations that you get along with those piercing yellow eyes makes them an interesting subject.

This female Red-bellied Woodpecker stopped by yesterday .....

Nice shots Burd! Love seeing the Warbler!

Beautiful female Red-bellied Linth!

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Thanks for starting the new thread Dave, I do envy you your beautiful bluebirds. Am hoping some will show up here soon. A robin is the only sign of spring birds I have seen, so am relying on the rest of you good bird photographers to send along your so great shots.

Oh darn, I found a dead Dark-eyed Junco on my porch just now. I went out and picked him up (with paper towels) to see if he was just stunned but he was really gone.

The snow fall continues here for some reason. It was supposed to stop at 5 am. Here is a pic of the center feeders.

These threads are slipping by so fast these days I can't keep up!!

From 2 threads back . . .

Quote from reddirtretiree :
Another hawk I snapped this week. I think it's an immature Coopers.
I'd agree with Burd (last thread) on Red-tailed Hawk

From last thread (re Eider)
Quote from Nanny 56 :
Resin...such a handsome bird! I do wish you would post photos more often

Wish I could! But I don't get too many opportunities for photos with my cheapo little camera, they have to be really close, or (if I take pics through my 'scope) they still have to be fairly close, and also have to stay still for a long time as it's tricky lining the camera up . . . Here's another of the Eiders

Higher up this thread . . .
Must be Slash b/c it did not look like the Loblolly pines around it. Needles were longer, softer looking, brighter green and its branches were almost rope-like

Yep, Slash Pine

And why the Eider pics are easy . . . they've learnt the bread habit from the local Mallards . . .

Burd...that "got lucky" shot is reall y neat!

Pelle...sorry about your junco. Last year was bad here and as the snows melted I found 3 goldfinch in different places. We usually have a lot of window strikes during the winter. But have had none this year. That was one reason I did not put the heated bowl out because it has to be so close to the house.

Hopefully the snow will end soon! I am sick of it for sure and we have more coming this weekend. I am really tired of snowblowing the driveway....but at least we have a snowblower and don't have to shovel! I did have to dig a path to the LP gas tank yesterday since I need a delivery this week. It was about a foot deep right around the tank and I had to dig some dirt out to get the fence gate to open.

I am still working thru photos from last week!! Caught one of this Tufted Titmouse. I have to bribe them in up closer with the feeder!

Nice shots all!! Resin back on daily thread 286...about 1/3 of the way down..Burn posted a Hawk...would like a confirmation as to what type...my field guide led me to a possible Merlin...just wanted to see if you could confirm the actual Id. It did not match-up for me as a Sharp-shinned.

Logan Lake, BC(Zone 3a)

nanny_56 and irisMA The Olympic red mittens are very inexpensive, just $10.00 a pair. I bought a pair for myself and I sent pair to my friend in Hayward, CA.
I purchased mine at Hudson's Bay Company in Kamloops but they are also sold at Zeller's, there are stores all across Canada.
There are also lots of websites but I think you would have to choose carefully.

Dave, you sure started us off beautifully with those birds.

There's just so many spectacular photos so I'm just going to say once again WOW! I sure am proud to be a member of this board. Such wonderful photographers participating here.

This immature Bald Eagle sure enjoyed flying around our little corner of the lake.

I don't know how Linth and Margaret ever got such wonderful photos of their raptors. These birds are much too fast!

Great pictures everyone, there are just so many to mention all. I wanted to remark on some of the highlights. The Cedar Waxwings are such striking bird!

I'm glad you've got yourself a little darling there Duc. Winter, this winter has been hard on everyone. I can only imagine how tough it's up further North... So sorry Pelle about the Junco and others who didn't fair very well under the snow.

For several years, as so long I've put up my backyard feeder(s). This winter is the first that I ever attracted BB. The lighting isn't great here but this pair; male and female BB are gladly accepting the subtistute suet feed to keep warm.

Linth, right you ARE! Spring was my wishful thinking. We've got snow flurry late last night -- again!

Oh just so everyone is aware. I picked up some raw unshelled peanuts for a flatform feeders hoping to attract Blue Jays and RB Woodpeckers. Do wish me luck please.
