I have such needs. I really do!
Here is a huge living picture that is going on a their huge display inthe center room. I think it is going to be on the ceiling or maybe also the walls.
How cool to have this on your house.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELL!!!
I missed that, was too busy rushing up and down all the isles before they closed.
And that is NOT cute! LOL
Cool living picture planters! Looks like you two had a great day. Kell, you should try making one of those succulent wall pictures.
Kell Happy Belated Birthday!! Looks liek it was an awesome one!! I think I would ahve been in a lot of trouble at the nursery since I am jsut getting the cacti/succulent etc... bug.
Good thing there is not just a SA bulb nursery huh?
I'm so glad you had a good time, and enjoyed Phil's (mostly)---I love their calamari!!!
After my meeting this morning, I'll rummage around in my photos and post a succulent photo I took at a lecture Robin gave, and tell a story about it.....
Sue, cute is the word! Those plant pictures are wonderful, Kell, and I definitely think you should buy one...or two!
I dreamt of this one last night. I so need it now. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7552830 Bust Kaper i do not think those are for sale! WOE is me!
Oh Marie, run run run! LOL. They are addicting for sure. And the colors and textures!! Just fantastic. And you hardly have to water them! Thanks fo ryour good wishes!
Great Janet, I am waiting. LOL
Marie, look at these colors.
Never ASSUME, Kell - call them and ask!
I agree. They might need to "clear them out" at the end of the show....at discount. Would the full picture fit on your roof? Green Roof - it's all the rage.
That's an organized, clean looking nursery - always a good sign of good plant health.
I thought of that Mike, I may have to go at the end of the show. LOL I think I am going to Mike. I so need that one! I bet they would be quite expensive though for they are a typical flat size which is big. I bet it goes for $250 or $300. I hate it when reality slams into my dreams.
They had lots of these made up to sell at the show. They are only 12" by 12 inch at $125. And none were as pretty as the ones I want!

I am so being dragged into needing cactus too. I seem to be buying way too many of them especially since I have told myself many times I would never ever get into cactus. What a liar.
Look at these. I swear they can talk and they are saying COME BACK, COME BACK AND TAKE ME HOME!

Those are great colors!! I am not much good with running when it comes to my addictions. I guess it is the one good thing about where I live. There is nothing in the way of nurseries or growers here that could send you blood pressure sky high!! I would be in so much trouble if I lived where you did.
I tell you Marie, I was just sitting here drowning in a deep hole of desire thinking I need professional help. I would be running back there this minute except my son is coming in tonight from NYC and I have so much to do to get ready for his visit.
So many levels of need.
I just know this so smooth BLUE cactus is in my future. How I left without it I have no clue. We were in a time crunch. We had 1 hour to shop because we meandered our way here which was our last stop. I went for just a few because I was so bouncing off the walls. I could not focus. Way too many distracting needs were happening. Everywhere I looked I ideas came into my head to do combo pots and pure ugly WANT! LOL
I am going to start collecting itty bitty ones, look for some in my garden like that and look for a container.
Kell I understand that drowning. I think I would have been bouncing off the walls with no direction with so much too look at!!!
Sue remember those itty bitty ones sometimes grow up to be big ones!! Do either of you have my problem of putting that cute tiny plant in the perfect place and then finding out that it will be 6ft instead of it's cute little 6 inch self? Probably only my problem but after 5 years of gardening I still have not learned my lesson
I have no room for even itty bittie ones, Marie! I hate when my plants grow.
Oh Sue, you know they are just like potato chips the smaller they are. LOL
I have just about every one of the plants in those boxes so know their potential sizes but would still love to try a small version. Probably would be high maintenance just pulling out the faster growers, now I am thinking, real small! LOL
Oh Sue I thought you meant collect itty bitty cactus. You are talking about succulent picture? I tell you they do not grow much if tucked in tight. Remember that bowl I bought at last year's show? I so wanted to buy a bigger one. It did not grow at all all year. It maintained its great looks! So easy!
Yeah, I was typing, left the window open too long and by the time I hit submit, it looked like I was replying to your cactus picture.
LOL I thought the same thing never mind my remark!
And I meant I wanted to buy a bigger bowl not have my smaller bowl grow. It was worth the money! It so looked good and still does I am sure if I had a clue where I tucked it for winter.
The wreaths I bought all died or look so bad. The core material is so tight, when you hose it to water it, the water just rolls off. So I had to soak it but I am so bad, either would not do for hard to keep finding a container to soak it in in the middle of my yard or I would forget it was soaking and rot it. I will not buy another of those. Too $$$ to kill off so fast.
OK, I've looked and can't find the photo. Rats. I think this happened in 2006. My friend and I went to the Sunset Celebration Weekend, and I think it was the first time Robin did a lecture. He brought along this SPECTACULAR framed compass logo, made out of hundreds of succulents, which was going to be planted at some yacht club or hotel in San Francisco. It was about 4' x 4'. One of the Sunset staff members who was helping him tipped it up so the audience could see it better, and I think it was heavier than he thought it would be---the whole thing just slid forward and out of its frame and went all over the stage. Robin was so totally cool about it....just smiled and said something about how easy succulents are to work with, and that they'd have to redo it the following week....I think I'd have throttled the guy!
Kell, having done show setup and take-downs before - they'd rather sell it on the spot instead of cart it back to the nursery to take up production space. Bug them at the show towards the end and I'm sure you can get a deal, ie. "you wouldn't want to take that all the way back to the nursery, would ya?! I'll take it off your hands..." You need some more land to work!
Kell,
Just wanted to pop in and wish you a Very Happy Belated Birthday. (I slept most of the day yesterday, but I did count birds!)
I'd send a pretty photo, but they aren't loading right, so I'll have to wait until I get home to share the photos I've taken down here at the beach.
Hoping that you don't have a mojito hang over!
Sure sounds like you had a great time on your Birthday. I hope that you have many more! Great times and Birthdays that is!
WIB!

Oh too bad Janet. That must have been so amazing! Can you imagine watching it just slide out? All that work gone. I would have cried!
Hi Mike. Gee, I could have sworn I already commented on this idea. I just may have to go the last day! His booth BTW I think is the one that sells the most stuff too! It gets crazy in there! I bet he has converted a lot of gardeners over to be succulent lovers. I wish you were going to be in that booth, you would give them all to me! LOL
LOL SW, thanks so much but you already wished me a great day on my birthday, the 9th and sent me that pretty Brazilian Plume plant picture. LOL But I love getting another!
here is a living picture they had on their outside wall.
Dang Kell,
Well having two Birthday Wishes is better than having none! I guess it's a first for me to forget that I already wished someone a Happy Birthday. Then again, I've been having computer problems and maybe I thought the post hadn't gone through?
You know what Kell, HaPPy BiRthDay for the third time! : - )
Laughing at self!
WIB,
SW
