We have a weekly feature Over the Garden Fence in our newspaper.
George Weigel the local garden guru writes several articles and posts a calendar of upcoming gardening events each week.

Garden Watchdog helps by breaking out a Watchdog 30 of vendors that score nearly perfect reviews.
Dave's Garden has PlantFiles on 179,000 plants with growing information and pictures -- as well as home-gardener comments on each plant and lists of areas around the country where each plant has been grown successfully.
And this amazingly useful site even has a PlantScout feature that lets you search for vendors selling the plants, seeds or products you're looking for.
