Done it
Not as stimulating as it was 20 years ago so enjoy now you youngen's
There was a show I started to wastc ,a series about a therapist Jane Alexander. and 3 or 4 of her patients. It was just "you know what"
It was so boreing I cancelled the rest of the discs.
I have a rich imagination and dont need to see some of the actors whom I have held in high reguard, in the nude, gettin down and dirty.
Not much substance.
what about dexter - you rent that one at netflix or madmen?
DD watches Dexter.
I am addicted to Mad men.
love the costumes.
Yes the Madonna torpedo bra was real.
i had one bowque uncomfortable.
we like both - madmen takes some time to get into and then we were hooked!
Madmen is really good and I like Curb Your Enthusiasm, kept HBO just for them...watching "Breakfast At Tiffany's" now on Demand, nice way to relax before work.
Cool pic Ge!
The structure and impromptu nature of your Wyeth photo is incredible!
(I'm guessing the other two people at the table wish they had framed copies!)
I believe the woman is his daughter.
The Man is a MSNBC journalist who appears on Dateline from time to time.
Olga, his mistress from the 60's appeared a few minutes after I had to stop with picture taking.
She is the subject of some of his most provocative and evocative paintings. They all hang in the Wyeth collection in Rockland Maine. How I got the picture is too long a story for here.
I didnt actually recognize him and someone at my table pointed him out.
Oh yeah, I liked the Batman movies...which batman was your fav? Mine was Michael Keaton.
Welcome Susan! We will keep the light on until you return.
Just need to clear up some things from this thread's diversion
Katrina received about $3.3 billion in donations according to the journal of philanthropy
On any pie chart of US spending, one would have a hard time finding the sliver that is our foriegn aid to other countries. It is a small percentage of our spending.
Wonder where all that $ went???
Down the drain...
Ask Michael Brown.
I have popped back in but the thread is is like a train wreck, you guys go off the track faster than anything I have ever seen. I will poke my head in now and then but probably don't have much to add.
Lots of $$ wasted and stolen.
Back to topic. The great Jean Simmons passed away. I liked her. Another lung cancer death. RIP.
Anyone been watching the geology series, How the Earth was Made? Really good.
Well, we all got to go from something... she was great, Spartacus was my fav with her.
She was very pretty. I liked her in Guys and Dolls too.
I vote Spartacus as her best.
"How the Earth Was Made" is a terrific documentary series on the History Channel. I hope kids appreciate the CGI visuals that make Earth's development easier to understand.
Wish we had that technology way back in my generation's school years, the subject matter would have been easier to understand.
Also, seeing planet Earth go through all those changes without humans onboard gives a sense that the human ego isn't the center of existence.
Amen Boston area
I watched both How the earth was Made and The Battle of Briton on the oldies channel
I like those war movies. Nothing made the WW2 more real than Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan..
Yes, Boston, I wish we had this tech back then too.
i already watched how the earth was made - very interesting
It's still going, Bill.
new episodes? i watched them about a month or two ago
Yes, there are still new ones.
According to Wikipedia.org, two more new episodes are scheduled: Jan.26 and Feb 2.
Cool. Did you see the one on NYC? I loved it.
It's amazing that a huge, partially submerged boulder (or rock outcroppping) in Central Park, which any pedestrian can walk by, has the striations and mineral composition that the geologists used to reconstruct NYC's geologic history.
And during one of the ice ages, NYC was *one mile deep* under ice!
Here in New England, there are several large boulders, some of which were left in precarious positions, deposited in odd places as the most recent ice age retreated.
Gardeners on the East Coast may notice these "orphan" boulders sitting in the middle of nowhere.
Absolutely. Many glacial erratics here too. Central park is fascinating for its geology. I took a number of courses at the museum of natural history on geology. Cool stuff.
Hee hee!
There is a movie I saw once on HBO and have never seen it anywhere again. I loved it...title is something like "The Red Violin" or "Le Violin Rouge" Anybody know it?
Advertising is a tough profession. Left me fatherless. I'll have to rent the first seasons of MadMen since I don't like coming in on the middle of things. Should that be in the idiosyncrecies thread?
As far as Haiti goes, if I donate 100 dollars and 50% of it is squandered or stolen, it's still 50 dollars to help the people in need. It's not right, but I won't refuse to donate because it might be stolen.
Americans are a very generous people. I remember putting up the jar on the counter at work after the devastating tsunami in Asia. People STUFFED it with money. Every day. It went to the Red Cross and hopefully made it to help those in need.
I'll have to rent Dexter too. I wonder if my dog will watch it? ;)...his name is Dexter.
Very nice, Weeze. And I agree.
I'm tempted to rent Madmen too. I like the look of it, from what little I have seen.
Yep, it's called the red violin and it looks like a good movie!

The Red Violin is an art film and wonderful.
Victor you wont be dissapointed in MadMen. The opening graphics are a throwback to the Peter Gunn series of the time. Wardrobe will make you die. The show is a landslide of awards and not for nothing.
I also like the "After people " series on History channel.
I'm with Venue too. Plus we are talking reputable charities here where there is not big skimming of money.
I didnt know where to put this interesting video. Its not weather and sports.
Its my SIL and his brother's business. The family has been building pipe organs for years. His brother is the people person.SIL is quiet and shy and appears only briefly, no speaking parts.
Sorry for the liquor store ad, just deal with it.
