Was the 'Vine open last night? My son is in San Jose and heading home tomorrow..hoping he doesn't hit bad weather....you never know lately. Yes, the mountains have been spectacular lately.Well, it will be interesting to see how my salvias do with being so waterlogged. If it now gets really cold, I may have a lot of root rotting.....
I've always loved winter and the rains, but the joy is gone when there's so much to worry about with the plants...too hot, too cold, too dry, too wet....poor farmers. The quarantines with the citrus psillid and the fruitfly have sure made it hard on the growers locally. At the farmers' markets, they're having to plastic bag the fruits...whole orchards of fuyus left to rot on the trees. This kills me...I'd love to have those fuyus!
WOW!
My DH made it through just fine late afternoon, early evening yesterday, but he may have gone the back way.
Ask the farmers about the fuyus. I know my Dad liked 'em too, wc. In the old days they'd let gleaners come through the fields and orchards, after they'd been harvested. Instead of letting the food rot. It's a real shame.
I haven't seen any of them bad bugs, but prolly wouldn't recognize one if it bit me. Most of the orange groves are gone around here. They didn't plant much citrus in our area, but it breaks my heart to see them take out the old olive trees that the pioneer families planted.
Hope your DS has good weather for the drive down, wc.

Everyone please be safe. XOXO
Started raining here about 1pm, just a nice gentle rain. It's now 4pm and it's pouring outside!
Nothing here...I won't whine if it misses us........
Started light rain about 3 pm here.

It's been raining steadily here all day---but looking at the radar, I think they really got slammed in Santa Cruz again. "Feast or a famine," as mom used to say!
Started here about 40 minutes ago. Darn, I didn't get my seeds out.
Ooooh yeah.....it's raining again....
Nice slow rain last night. No leaks!!! Yippee!!!!!
Randy the Roofer down the road did a great job, and we aren't having any leaks from the roof, just some water seeping in underneath in the jacuzzi room. Not bad at all today. Still have some ceilings to repair from last year, but I'll eventually get to them. It's hard with cathedral ceilings and vertigo, to force myself to do it. Sigh . . .

No rain here today....it's cold and foggy.
An update on my photos of my temporary gutter.
It did quite well except when it was empty of water and the wind was so fierce. I had to go back out and staple the plastic up again. Since we still don't have rain barrels, I'm still using the wagons.
A photo for you, the overflow, goes into a second wagon. Both get dumped out at lot.
SW, Cool Pool!!!!!!
It's not very pretty right now, and that fine sediment is not sinking to the bottom. It looks like we'll have to sweep, and vaccuum the water out and refill until it's clean unless someone knows of a better way to get that dirt out of there. I'm baffled.
DH is too busy to do more than work the bees right now.
Advice would be appreciated, this is really depressing me. Sigh . . .
Just try not to look at it until the end of our "rainy season"? We could concievably get more storms like that .
Carol
Well, I wasted today with a friend (I shouldn't say that, time with a friend is never wasted) and I wanted to do some baking and inside work tomorrow, but I just heard on the news that next weekend looks like more El Nino type storms may be coming our way...guess I'd best get my tush back outside and work on weeding, cutting back, shredding, etc.
Now that my computer problem seems to be fixed, (universal laptop charger for Home/Office) from Radio Shack. Cost $99.99 + tax, but seems to be working. It does have a lot of other pieces so it can charge other types of computers.
I have so much gardening to do, I think I'll follow Sherry's example and get out there and start getting things cleaned up and planted.
Thanks for a beautiful day!
