Nottingham, MD(Zone 7a)

Most of my grown streps came from David Thompson, Lilriver and someone else whose name escapes me, off of eBay. Just a couple I purchased from Marie Burns in my local AV club.

David Thompson's name on eBay is plant_maniac
Tim Rehberger is lilriver

Nottingham, MD(Zone 7a)

Oh, and some came from my dearest Gail! :)

Thanks

They are just so lovely - all of them. I almost wish I'd never seen them because I am going to have to move into a new apartment just so I can grow more of them!

Nottingham, MD(Zone 7a)

Anna, you'll learn that you add more space to accommodate more plants! It TRULY is an addiction! :)

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Lovely Shanika!! Don't worry if you post a picture twice....it's twice as much to enjoy!!

Connie,
Put all your wants on the want list thread. It won't be long before some of us will have extras.

Very nice Rose! It almost looks like a Petrocosmea! How often does she bloom in a year?

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

She's been living on more neglect than love this winter... LOL!
If I had to think hard about it (it's my day off!) I would say she probably bloomed three times last year.
The blossoms are small but very pretty.

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Great pictures Rose!! I have never gotten a Chirita to bloom yet.

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

Lynn,You are so right and I think you have told me to do that once before. I keep saying I am going to write down the names as members post them but I haven't yet. I really do need to take the time and just do it.

Thanks! Next time you have my permission to kick me in the behind. I need it sometimes (grin).

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Shanika,
I have two Petrocosmea and wanted to ask you a question . They are younger ones and when I grow these they tend to get babies under the bigger plant... What do I do about this? I have killed more then one by scraping the sucker off or what ever you call it... So what would you do? Or any suggestions on how to grow these better .... I just remember I have an older book on gessies and I think they were in there also... Maybe that would tell me more also...
Thank you for any help.... Oh I also got a chitrita leaves from a person who I bought strep leafs from and I was going to separate them tonight and found out she is going to bloom... I am not taking her apart until she blooms now...LOL
Hugs,
Susan

Nottingham, MD(Zone 7a)

Hey Susan!

I'm afraid I know nothing about Pets. I got a leaf in a trade last Fall and am just growing them the best I know how. LOL I may be able to scour the web and find you some good articles. I believe there was one from my local Gesneriad club not long ago. BRB.

Try this...

Nottingham, MD(Zone 7a)

Speaking of chiritas, I went to cut the suckers off my Nimbus and saw that there were two buds there! I still cut the suckers off and potted them up. Now I'm waiting for the blooms! It will be my very first chirita brought into bloom. I remember the flowers are a lovely purple with a yellow center I believe. An amazing plant both for foliage and flower. Do you have Nimbus? If not, I can send you a baby in the Spring!

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Shanika,
I don't have that one either... I have a total of 3... One is minor, and can't remember the other two and I am in bed typing...LOL So how do you cut the suckers off and grow them? I thank you for the url above... I have not gone to it yet but will... I took 3 tray into the living room tonight and have to repot so many babies. I think there are 39 of them... I hate potting them...LOLOLOL These are ones I don't have already... So I wont complain about losing the others..LOLOL I also have others to baby's to repot but I will try to get these all done tomorrow then do the others..LOL
I got the Chiritas as a bonus and when I got them I said Oh shoot I don't grow these anymore... but I could not bring myself to toss them... Well I have 3 of them now so I guess I am growing them again...LOLOL They don't have names on them as I did not really take any time with them so I thought I would kill them....LOLOL There are two to three in a cup..
If you want I can put a leaf down of the 3 Pets.I have and I think now that I am thinking of what I seen in the livening room was another one... Will get the names and let you know .. Or I can send you leaves....
Hugs,
Susan

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks! I received some NOID leaves back in the spring from a trade. Can't wait to see what the others look like. It is like opening up Christmas presents :) I am pretty sure they are optimaras because she would buy them at the box stores.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I love when they bloom for the first time--it IS just like Christmas!

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

Because I have no names for these, I have them numbered. If you or anyone else is interested in these as they bloom out, I am more than happy to share them. This one is # 27.

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Well number 27 is a beauty!!
