DAILY PICS VOL. #276

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

A close up of a California Towhee. I love these birds because they're not afraid of people walking up close for photos.

nanny_56 - I feel for you being without a camera. Hope your Fuij is okay. Are you still planning to get the 20x camera? I can't recall the brand, but I think I remember it being 20x.

gardenpom - in deed, that pic of the Mockingbird at the new hanging birdbath did come out well.

hel - I've never even seen a Galah. I must say, you folks down under have some remarkable
looking birds.

2dCousinDave - great shots of the Northern Mockingbird. I see one every now and then.

ducbucln - what a cool looking bird - that Scrub Jay.

dellrose - "Lucy", the leucistic Cardinal, is an unusual looking bird.

adelbertcat - nice capture of the bobbin Robin.

f_chisolm - great pics of Pine Warblers. I have a lot, too.

claudcat - lotws of nice pics. I think I'm partial to the Goldfinches.

burn_2007 - even though it was starting to get dark, you still managed a good shot of the Ruffed Grouse.

Grasmussen - I liked the series on the eagle in the back of the pickup. Cool.

ducbucln - your second series of posts, with White-crowned Sparrows, is nice. I'd like to photo one, but according to my books of Ga., it isn't going to happen.

It's bad (soggy, wet) outside today but I do have a few pics from Friday (Jan 15) I'd like to post.

This first one is an "in-flight" shot of a male Northern Cardinal

Thanks helenchild. I really like seeing all the bird pics, too. Some of these folks take pics of such a high quality, I feel they could be published. Me - I just goof around. Just get yourself a camera and join in on the fun.

I, too, have lots of Pine Warblers. Here's one at the feeder. A lot of times, I find these on the ground feeding.

Great variety of birds everyone!

Frank..that shot of the Pine Warbler you posted at 8:22 should be hanging on your wall.
Claudcat...You have a great variety of birds in your area.
Burn...How awesome to see and photograph the Ruffed Grouse, what a gorgeous bird. I hope you can get some shots of the Snow Bunting.
Gary...Oh my...love that portrait.
Duc..Lovely shots and congrats on the Fox Sparrow. We have the red form in our area and they are abundant this year.
Hack...Glad to see you are enjoying your new gear. I'm envious of your Warbler and Brown-headed Nuthatch. Congratulations to your wife on her retirement...let the fun begin!

Hack, the Canon SX20 IS is on order and the guy fixing my Fuji is very confident he can repair one way or another. Fuji is not always cooperative sending replacement parts unless you have an account with them I guess. But push comes to shove he knows how to fix it!

Frank...great kinglet shot!

Claudcat....nice groups of shots! FYI...my real name is Claudia and my DH, brothers & sisters have always callled me Claude.

burn...so nice to see the grouse!! Not enough of those around.

Gary....how cool getting that eagle!

Cupertino, CA(Zone 9a)

Linth,

I too never saw the Pileated woodpecker pics, so I'm glad that you re-posted them. You are so lucky to be able to get so close to them. I have to hide inside and peek out the window. Any fast movement and they are long gone!

Grey and gloomy here today, so I'm catching up on daily pics! What beautiful pictures everyone.

Thank's for the pics of the Mocking bird Dave, I don't know why but I thought they were a bigger bird.
Yeh! our Galah's are beautiful, but loud.
Here's our beautiful King Parrot, they can become very quiet, as you can see how close they can get.

thanks everyone for your comments on the Grouse.
Gp, that hanging bird bath, seem to attract your birds well. Can't get over the colors that pop out in your Grackle, I can only bring out the blue in them and black. I love your RBWP shots.
Hel he's a beauty.
Rose , what have you been teaching those two? lol

dellrose - that Cardinal and Tree Sparrow being in synch was cool.

hel - that green and red King Parrot, made me think of Christmas. Pretty bird.

gardenpom - nice shot of the male Red-bellied Woodpecker.

adelbertcat - I sure like the looks of those Scrub Jays.

burn_2007 - Your Black-capped Chickadee looks a whole lot like my Carolina Chickadees.

Today was awful for bird photography. Ground is a quagmire. I sat in the house and used the Bigmos to shot pics through the door window with the blinds open. The blinds are built into the door and I can't raise them, I just twist them open.. I used a tripod to help me hold the big sucker still. I was shooting at a distacne of between 25 - 30 yards, according to my range finder. .The pics came out better than I really expected, what with heavy overcast and all. I enhanced them with Elements 7.

The first one, was the first pic I took. It's a Blue Jay on my plate form feeder.

Beautiful shots everyone.

F chisolm nice closeup of the pine warbler and lucky you on the kinglet close up shot

Grassmussen I could only imagine the owner's look if he/she had come out and saw what you saw. I guess times are tight for more than us humans. I've see juvie Eagles and the dump. That juvie looks like a giant to the Raven.

Dunlap, IL

Great shots everyone.

Grasmussen-great shot of the Juvie eagle, a candid moment when your glad you have your camera.

I haven't been out in a little while, but we had some ice fog yesterday morning. It left the suet feeder a little menacing looking.

All your pictures are fabulous. I was so excited yesterday to see robins while it was snowing I tried to take a picture through the window and woody flew into the shot LOL...
If you look hard enough you can see the robins :>) They are here 2 months early.

Hack, great shots of the nuthatch. I'd love to see a Pine Warbler! Love that thrasher too.
Rose, your photos of the cardinal and sparrow are adorable!
Hel, your galah is just beautiful.
GP, love all your photos. That red-bellied is so pretty and I love the grackles coloring.
Adel, good ones of the quail and jay. Hope the rain doesn't wash you away.
Burn, love that wp. It looks so pretty on the branch.
Jas. that suet feeder does make a pretty picture, but you can keep the freezing weather.

We're getting hammered with strong winds and rain and the birds seem to be at the feeders more. Guess they're storing up as much as they can.

Great pictures everyone, and much appreciated. Not much selection here. Lots of quail andmany goldfinches and H. sparrows, so I really like seeing the many different birds the rest of you have. There are 2 Red Tailed Hawks that live around here, and several Kestrels, but they are very shy.
