What is the name of that coleus plantladylin. I bought some of those from walmart this year and geez, they got huge and wide.
Thanks for the new thread.
HHUUUGGGGHHHHH! Will this cold ever end? My wife is suffering just like she did when we lived in the polar regions. This is not what we moved down here. I still feel slighted.
Sorry about that.
Sylvain.
No, I didn't take any cuttings, thought about it but never got around to it! The Coleus that was in the ground is pretty much dead from all the cold but I just wove my way through all the plants crammed into the porch and some that's in that pot with the philo is still alive so maybe it won't all succumb to the cold.
This is what the Schefflera tree looked like this morning! We've had three consecutive nights at 28º, and more cold nights to come so a lot of plants are going to be mush. This Scheff is taller than the house and in the past when we have had a freeze it ended up with brown mushy leaves hanging all the way to the ground.
I had some of mine planted in with my philo as well, that lasted about 2 weeks longer than those out in the yard. But now after all of the freezes, it finally gave up. Even my philo is drooping. That's a first here.
Florida is really getting hit hard with Frigid weather this year! I've been here since 1967 and only remember one time with really extreme cold but never lasting this long! News reports says it's the most extended freezing weather the state has seen in 6 decades! Our local (Orlando) news even said we may have flurries this weekend with this second blast of cold!
This is one lone Tree Philo on the NE side of the house that is all droopy from the cold. It has a bit of protection from the overhang of the house but will surely be mush in another week if this weather keeps up. The south side yard is full of these Tree Philo's and some of the foliage is brown from frost damage.
Hello all well just to tell you it is freezing up here to I hate it.
James
We've had three straight nights of freezing or below freezing and it's expected to continue. According to our weather report last night, there's another cold front heading south with even colder temp's, and it's supposed to make it through Florida!
SuunshineSW: How did all your many beautiful Hoya's fare? I sure hope they are okay and that you don't experience any severe damage from the cold temp's!
There is nothing wrong with that picture. It is beautiful to me.
Love it!!! You did Great!!!
Oh Dave, that is really nice!

RRM: you are sweet to say that. My photography skills are lacking, I can never remember what the buttons on the camera are for and if I press one by mistake and screw something up with the settings I'm always having to get my husband to straighten it out and re-set it for me! I try to keep it on the AUTO setting and still sometimes they are a blur but sometimes I am pleased with the way they turn out.
This lake is right outside our friends back porch at their vacation home. The Intracoastal waterway and Atlantic Ocean are at the far end of the photo's behind the palm trees. The lake is brackish water, a combination of fresh/salt water and has lots of fish and turtles. We always feed the turtles bread crumbs.
The soft shelled turtles are kinda ugly but here's a picture of one coming up for bread crumbs at the shoreline
LOL ... I keep saying someone needs to make a camera with just one button on the outside, the one to click when you want to take the picture. My old camera and the new one have buttons on both sides and when I'm trying to hold the camera steady I sometimes hit one or more buttons and mess up the settings, which messes up the pictures.
To give you an idea of how bad I am with cameras ... I was taking a few pictures at night after I got the new camera for Christmas. I was complaining to my husband about how something was wrong, that the flash wasn't working and the pictures were all coming out too dark! He was sitting at the desk working on the computer but had just taken a few pictures with it and said the flash was working fine. He turned around, looked at me with the camera in hand and said, "Well, you need to raise the flash for it to work." ^_^
... an old photo of a sunset from Longboat Key on the west coast of Florida.
I love Macadamia's ... second to Cashews, or maybe first and Cashews second, LOL!
I've never tried the fruit of the Sugarberry tree but supposedly birds and wildlife love them.
Very pretty Pictures, Metrosideros, Love the blooms. Yours too,
3jsmom.
It's not bad yet. I heard it's gonna get cold though. We will be glad for the insulation value of the snow :).
