Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Best wishes Jan! Nothing worse than when your kid is having a problem.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Thanks

I always appreciated taking Latin in high school. It helped on the SATs I think. Knowing prefixes and suffixes and roots helps in figuring out the meanings of words. Now, if I could just remember them I'd be all set. ^_^

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

4 years of Latin...it really helped when I went to Latin America

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Dave Quayle??

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

You remember. He actually never said that- but the joke stuck on him

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

He actually meant pig-Latin.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I found an AWFULLY annoying one. Anne Burrell hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network. I caught her this morning and after about 15 min. I simply HAD to change the channel. I don't know anything about her qualifications, whether she's a good chef, good teacher, etc. but her language is atrocious. She wants to get away from the "Cordon Bleue" type of talk and instead uses a back alley/street gang monologue to describe her cooking. I have forgotten most of what annoyed me, thank goodness, but here are a couple:

"let's aluminum foil this and stick in the oven...."
"drain this puppy (she meant short ribs) or else it will be like the Valdez"

I guarantee many of you will cringe, so tune her in if you are a glutton for punishment.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

sorry I disagree... I love her!!!!... but since I don't have the foodnetwork still it doesn't really matter

Randy and I watch her because she is so real and not phony like that Giada is

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hey I love Giada! (And her cleavage.)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thought of two more I like - 'unbeknownst' and 'comeuppance'.

Anyone remember the film where 'little Georgie got his comeuppance'??

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

That film is unbeknownst to me.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee. The Magnificent Ambersons.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

every time Giada puts that stupid fake smile on... I just want to punch her in the face

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

DG rules, no politics, no sex, no chef controversies

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

:)

must be a new one Dave

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'll give you that - way too many fake smiles, but I'm rarely looking at that.

And she uses WAY too much cheese!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nothing wrong with too much cheese... unless it's the goofy smile

:)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

A bit dramatic!

South Hamilton, MA

Elementary Watson--she has a tired blood problem

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Well at least the shoes match.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

what kind of t-sauce is that?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ugh and she ruined that gorgeous dress!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ha ha! That's definitely a woman's response!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I thought that's how we all dressed making sauce!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Victor likes her vertical smile?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Which one? ^_^

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Didn't know you were in a position to compare. Impressive!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

At just the right angle...

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Does anyone else see the resemblance of Giada to the newest Victoria Secret Model? Victor?? I'm sure you've studied the models a few times too. ^_^ Bill?

(Zone 5b)

holy macaroni...I thought those were cut outs on the dress, not sauce. looks like a nightie.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I see the resemblance. Giada has great eyes.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

a model of what?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Another word I like is 'profligate'.

Ffld County, CT(Zone 6b)

Hmm, Victor, why am I not surprised about that?

:)

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)
