My friend's father is Haitian and can't reach any of her family there.
Coffee Break #28 - The cold, dark days
After viewing his commentary, it is even worse than what was posted here. He is actually saying that because that part of the island's people decided they did not want to be colonized and become a tourist trap under capitalism like the Dominican Republic, this means they made a pact with the devil. I think it means they wanted their freedom and independence. Pacts with the devil are sci fi nonsense.
He even goes so far to say this earthquake is a blessing in disguise. 100,000 people dead and he calls it a blessing? Only because now, greedy venturists can come in and lay claim to what they rebuild. How sad.
Out a tragedy there can be a blessing, yes.
Not the fact that all the people died are a blessing.
Getting up there in the number of posts. I'll start a new thread shortly.
It is a politically charged statement in that it is left to many interpretations, that being said the dead are no longer suffering and there is always hope for the future of the living as long as there is change.
- Sorry for your loss Victor.
Victor - sorry to hear that you have lost your aunt. I know you take comfort, as I would, in the fact that her suffering has ended. Sad loss nonetheless.
Sorry for your loss Victor. My sympathies to you and yours.
Thanks, ladies.
