Big Wheels Keep on Turning in a New Gypsy Year

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Man, JJ, no wonder you were looking at beach sites.

At 8° I probably won't be able to get in my car. Darn doors freeze up, locks too. Toy car. (Taurus) We do graphite & lock stuff every few days & it still freezes. Such a pain, because sometimes I can get the door open, but then it won't close.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Yeah, I feel bad in the winter. LOL ~ Bruce Almighty, teach them to go in the toilet & flush. (that was filmed in Buffalo, in part)

Speaking of.. Keanu Reeves is making a film, shooting in Buffalo. Girl at work is in love, she's peeing her pants every time he's in town. It's funny, I tell her 'go for it, leave work & go down there'.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

OK, it's after 11, my hair is wet and I'm freezing. Gonna go get dressed & finish my stuff.

Everyone stay warm, JJ get in & out and back to your fireplace & book. Moon, enjoy the movie. Lynnie, Flowers & Dixie, hope to see you later.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Know all about doors freezing shut smiley.
I keep a couple cans of that (mind just went blank) spray de icer for windshields in the house and spray around the door to open it.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

DH adding new battery to my must get list.
I better get moving too.

Enjoy your day with mom and stay warm..

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Thermometer says 23, weather said 19 with lows to 13 tonight. That was some uterus story lynnie! Smiley missed again, stay warm! I need advice on a ditital camera, want cheap but good, easy to use with memory card, charger, and sub port, so I won't have to go out and buy extras. What is a good card? I see 4b as what comes with the ones that have them. DIL has a Kodac, and seems to be a good little camera, but reviews said different Whats a person to do, decisions decisions. Be back later to hear your responses.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I had two kodacs Flowers and they both took good everyday pictures. But neither took good closeups( at least not for me). But I love the chargers that you just set the camera on.

Just bought a Nikon coolpix,( with money I got for christmas) but it don't have a charger so I will have to buy a separate one ( if I keep this).

I don't like to spend a lot either. Kassy loves her Canon, but they seem to be a bit higher, maybe because they are better, I don't know.
I think most of my problems are the photographer and not the camera...

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Ok Dave this one is for you, know your feeling left out lately. Are ya ready gonna love this one!

Welina me ke aloha, I really enjoyed the Oncidium flexuosom and the Carludovica palmata, but especially theTheobroma cacao. The Pulehu was great, we all had a good time The Hakalau Coast was magnificent! Also decorating the Bismarkiea was fun and entertaining.. Mahalo for the fun Holidays and Ekomo mai for the gifts we sent lol. So will say A hui hou for now and hope to hear from you soon. Your friend Flowers. Ps really got a kick out of the Macroglossum Pymhostictum. Thought I wasn't paying attention huh gypsies LOL

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Well just gave 23 bucks for the sub cord for the olympus I have, but could not get a driver for. and know the memory cards can cost from 25 to 50 dollars. Was looking on Amazon but reviews will confuse you more that help at times. Don't want to keep replacing batteries thats a pain so charger would be nice.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

I meant Omni, not Olympus. And for got Dave, A hui hou

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Flowers, look at Wal-Mart for a camera. We have gotten our last 3 from there and all under $100 with memory card. We invested in rechargeable batteries and a charger. Cost about $25 for 8 AA and a charger. Camera only uses 2 AAs so always at least one set ready to go. DH's is a video/camera and was $89. Mine is a Nikon Coolpix and GSJordan's is a Sanyo and does all kinds of neat stuff. Saw an ad for a 12megapixel at Wal-mart....mine is a 7.2 megapixel. the higher the number the better the resolution on the picture. They will probably have some good deals over the next few weeks.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Good idea moon if it ever quits snowing will check it out lol, Thinking if I order on Amazon the shipping will cost more than the camera. Ok been sitting here for hours, gotta move around lol. Catch ya later, Thanks for info. Oh caught another one of Virgies cousins, little stinkers think they have me over a barrel!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Look at Wal-mart online. Will give ya a good idea what is available. Virgies cousins?? must missed something along the way.

Have a good one...gotta get my shower and fix lunch. later gator

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Nikon Coolpix are good cameras and user friendly. Good deal for the money.

(Zone 5b)

we have a canon elph and a canon powershot, love both of them. They take AA batteries and we also have a recharger for those. Cameras take some abuse from the kids, and they know fully how to use them, so I guess anyone could figure them out.

cold & windy out there! I just went to look at my boulders... they have not moved themselves into position *grin*

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Floweers the Nikon coolpix L20 is $79.00 walmart online price but was $89.00 in the store.
the canon A480 is $99.00 online and they don't have it in the store here.

You might as well be as confused as me. Both are 10 mega pixels.
Biggest difference I found was the macro setting.
Nikon 5cm
Canon 1cm

Hows that for confusing. Remember at walmart you can have it shipped to the store for free.

Hi everyone, bought my camera from Amazon......Canon IXUS 80 IS,I've had it a year at end of Jan and found it very good,re-chargeable battery and charger came with it.Just remove battery from camera and place it in charger, plugged into a mains electric socket.8.0 megapixels and .......mines pink, which of course makes all the difference.
JJ,thanks again for the link to the WinterSown website.I'm going to give it a try, there appears to be loads of plants that can be germinated that way, some of which I've seeds for already.I'll have to wait until I've enough suitable containers though, cos we send so much with the re-cycle lorry ,when they collect ,that at moment I've nothing to use:}.I'll let you know what happens.
Unfortunately ,I've caught a cold somewhere ,someone must be to blame:}
Hope you're all having a good saturday.8pm and 27f here, keeps snowing ,but not really settling.....yet

(Zone 5b)

hi Joy how are you? Cold here too, in the 20's. the kids got on the trampoline, which was covered with ice, and played banana peel slide (they made it up).

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Hi Lynnie,I'm fine thanks ,except I've caught a cold from somwhere,hope you're doing ok,glad you're enjoying your work:}
My 2 boys could always make up a game to play,I always think the ones they invent themselves are the best:},when they use ther imaginations,mine also,never seemed to notice the cold,don't think they keep still long enough,but thats how it should be:}
I'm off to have a sit and read ,as usual in the evening,already 9pm here,snows now settling.The English apparently have a reputation for discussing the weather,so I feel it's expected of me to mention it .....grin:}
Hope every one of you has a good evening, take care and I'll be in touch tomorrow.
Joy

(Zone 5b)

lol we New Englanders discuss the weather constantly....we have a saying, if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes *grin*
I imagine you caught that cold from us ;) we're all sniffling and sneezing on this forum....gypsies are supposed to go South for the winter, don't you know!
I'm cleaning and organizing...put up January's calendar and am putting all the schedules on it...Feb's too...too much stuff going on! I need to make a bunch of appointments too when Tuesday rolls around.
I have extra girls here tonight...wish me luck!

Thanks for the tips on camera ladies, will just have to figure it out. It seems everytime I get one electronic mastered they come out with something else to confuse me. Just got a nice instamatic a year or so ago, now here they are doing away with film for them. All and all tho if I can get a good one think the ditital is the way to go and can post pictures this spring and summer of hopefully beautiful blooms over here. Also heard they were not gonna make anymore of the electric ranges with eyes like mine, gone to the flat top. Just be glad when they come up with a fridgerator that fills itself lol.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Joy snow came and went here but don't see how at 19*. Guess the sun and wind worked together to make it happen and I'm glad. I've discovered that kids that use their imaginations at a young age tend to deal and handle everyday problems when older than kids that depend on others to do it all for them. Have a good read and think I'm gonna hit my recliner to watch another old movie. Just watched Two mules for Sister Sarah, an old Clint Eastwood movie that is a classic for sure. Take care and will chat soon.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Can you use any memory card with any camera?

(Zone 5b)

I don't think so, when dh gets home I'll ask him, he's the techno geek.

(Zone 5b)

there are different types of memory cards (my computer thingy alone takes 7 different cards)

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

well I'm thinking Amazon has better deals than Wall Mart and shipping doesn't seem to be that bad either. They have some that have it all including card and charger and sub cord for a decent price, Just haven't decided which one yet.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

I *think* that's the same thing as a SIM card, Flowers. If you get a larger SIM card you can put more pictures on it before you have to dump the camera. Think of it like buying a roll of film. Camera's usually come with an 8mb SIM card (12 exposures if thinking like a regular camera) and you can buy a bigger SIM card (say 36 exposure).

So you can store way more pictures on the camera before you have to download them to your computer.

Gonna go take mom home.

(Zone 5b)

I gotta tell you, I love the canons...the elph was small enough to keep in your pocket.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Yep Smiley think your right, but you can erase and load more pictures on same card can't ya? I like cannon too Lynnie, but I swear that little Kodac of DIL's takes great pics for what she gave for it, only she had to buy the card and think cord seperate. I want it all in one neat pkg with a big pink bow lol.

(Zone 5b)

yes you can use the same card, just erase or download the pics to your computer

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

I think the regular sim card would suit my needs because I would download pretty quick. I would buy the universal driver on line for 20 dollars for my omni but it is stuck in black and white mode and no-one seems to know how to get it changed. It plays videos and looks nice but I just need something simple like point and click.

(Zone 5b)

did you google it? there's a forum for everything out there

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi All. Flowers we have a 4gigabite card for our camera....cost about $20 at Walmart. It holds close to 5000 (yep) pictures It is the one I use all the time for the stuff I upload to DG. With the laptop it is really just plug and go. DH has a port cable for the other computer. I love it cause I can take as many pics as i want and no worries about running out of space.

Hi Lynnie,

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Well I just did it , click I'm done LOL ordered the Kodac Easy Share,c180,10mp with 3xzoom and 24"lcd whatever that all means. But dad jim it, realized after I clicked complete order and went back and looked it didn't have sim card. Oh well, maybe mine will fit out of other camera, but it did have sob cord and batteries included, but not charger. I have a battery charger just not sure if it is the same as what you need with a camera. Not one of the more expensive cameras but if it is clear, thats all I care about.

(Zone 5b)

hi ya Moon!
I like the easy share part, Flowers!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

As long as the batteries are standard rechargeables AA or AAA should work fine. Your card should work fine with the new camera.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Got a houseful tonight Lynn? Sleepover?

(Zone 5b)

yeah, just 4 all together....they're all on the couch watching a movie, we're making popcorn and milkshakes.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Sounds like a plan.Full and occupied...grin

Avatar was an absolutely visually stunning movie. CGI was excellent. The storyline was pretty standard....big guys against the little guys with defectors to the little guy side, but since it was a matinee...6 bux each and worth that for sure. 2 hours and 40 minutes long....hard for us ADDs to sit still that long, but enough going on on the screen to keep ya looking.

(Zone 5b)

I heard that was a good movie, also heard Sherlock Holmes was very good.
