problem editing

I just edited a post I made yesterday on a thread on the Canadian Gardening Forum -

It didn't edit properly. In the edit screen, it showed my whole post in quotes (with the [ ] brackets).

When posted, it didn't indicate that the post had been edited (except for a note I made about my previous bad grammar), all those posts after it vanished and it went in on today's date. Strange things going on?

I've just encountered a discussion about the new "quote" box under the edit. I must have clicked it instead of "edit". Still, I managed to wipe out my original post plus all those that followed it. Maybe it still needs some tinkering.

You should see three links under your name - edit, post#xxxxxxxxx and quote.

Clicking on the post# or the quote link would have created a problem. Can you please try again and let us know if you continue to experience a problem?

I'm quite sure that I accidentally clicked on "Quote", not realizing it was there (it was shortly therafter, mentioned on another thread).

Then, when I saw the [ quote ] and [ /quote ] in what I thought was the edit screen, I thought it rather strange and removed them, changed the grammar error and reposted. So I now know what I did, but the peculiar thing is that it removed my original message as well as all those following it.

I don't see how replying to a thread could remove any other posts. Did anybody else complain that their posts were removed?

Was it before or after this post?

Actually, today the original post seems to be there - http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=7408262 (I didn't see it earlier). But there were a couple of responses to it which seem to have disappeared.

I normally use my webtv rather than the computer when I'm on DG, except when I want to post a picture...which won't work on webtv. Now "edit" doesn't appear on webtv which means I'll have to switch to the computer (or get a laptop) if I need to edit something. Only the quote option is on the webtv format now.

The reason I use the webtv for DG and email is that I can sit here with my keyboard in my lap and my legs propped up on an ottoman...much comfier than getting a backache sitting at the desk. In other words, I can lounge while I'm online. :)

I have to stand corrected. Those responses are now there. But I'd swear up and down that they were NOT there earlier. Anyway, I guess you can likely close this thread. Happy New Year!
