chris8796 - You said, "Here's a Dove that might have over-indulged over the holidays." I'll say, what in the world have you been feeding it? :-) And that Downy looks cold to me, doesn't look to be as puffed up as some of the "Northern" birds I seen posted on here.

Burd_Fotos - As far as I can see, your Black-capped Chickadees look like my Caroline Chickadees. And those Dark-eyed Junco pics are really good. But that Red-breasted Nuthatch.is a beauty.

Sweet! Looks like you've got just enough snow to make everythig bright & pretty. Ours mostly melted away in the recent rain, and I miss it!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Would love to see a Cardinal here, they are very pretty.
I've seen some Snow Bunting this afternoon, but they didn't want their picture taken.
I seem to be always posting the Blue Jay for some reason. Maybe because I'm looking for color in my pics.:)

Great to see so many birds. There are about 50 or more E. Sparrows here and they keep chasing other birds away, which is why I am try to persuade them to to move somewhere else, by not keeping my feeders full of wild bird seed.

I did see a pair of Chickadees around for awhile and hope they are still near by. All of the tree and shrub fruits got frozen mid-Oct, when temp. got down to 15 degrees, so there isn't much small fruits like crabapples, etc to draw birds in. And lots of leaves are still hanging frozen to the trees.

Keep taking photos and sending them along.

Nice photos everyone...Margaret like the Osprey BIF

Donna what is and E. Sparrow?

These threads are moving too fast for me

Nice pics burn and nanny! Very cold here today with up to 50 mph wind gusts.

Hi Met, I think Donna means a (European) House Sparrow.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Yes that is what I meant House Sparrow, They are called English sparrows as were imported from England. they are a real pest, and it is legal to shoot or otherwise get rid of them, also Starlings, also imported. Both are very sharp eyed and hard to shoot as they fly at any movement.

Stafford County, VA

Very windy here today as well. Here is an interesting shot from a few minutes ago. May look like he is in flight and technically he was, but he was actually going backwards, having just beem blown off the deck railing by a wind gust. The sun is behind him. Notice the two wing shadows.

ha. poor little guy!

Really chilly here today but some sun!

Yesterday however, it was cloudy and 27°. Lovely weather for a bath, according to the starlings in the neighborhood.

I have enjoyed looking at all your awesome photos. I finally had a day to take some pics. Here is a house finch showing off his bright colors.

OK now I just saw this female purple finch and I am wondering about my finch males.

I find it hard to tell the male purple and house finches apart. Was my previous pic house or purple finch? I did not do any enhancements on the picture.

Nice photos everyone.

Dave good catch on the blue bird.

Its interesting to see all the birds after the recent storms.

I have had way too many House Sparrows and Starlings too this year.

Brown Creeper is here almost daily now...

The snow and cold did bring the Carilina Wren in to have some suet yesterday. But it has warmed up pretty nice today. It is 35 and SUNNY right now at my house!

Nice pics nanny, chris,Julie, Hack and Dave!!

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

Nice shots:

JulieQ - I wouldn't mind seeing a Purple Finch. it would be a Lifer for me.

chris8796 - I'm still looking for a Dark-eyed Junco. Another Lifer, if I get one.

nanny_56 - I didn't see my usual Carolina Wren today. And I usually see it. Maybe tomorrow.

I did some snapping today. For all of the following, I had my 1.4x Tamron TC behind my 70-300mm lens. All were hand held, all were able to auto-focus, if I set the lens on the "3" of the 300 marking.

I had this female Eastern Towhee hopping all around, feeding away.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. All of your pictures are so wonderful. A special shout out to
Burd on those Starlings on the previous thread.

Duc, PLEASE get better. xoxo

I was in Grass Valley, Ca. for Christmas. I managed to get a few bird pics. My sister lives on acres and there
is a lot of wildlife.

Junco. not a great photo

When I saw this bit of color hopping around, I thought it was the Towhee, again. I was surprised to see this American Robin. I haven't had one visit in months.

Hack, love the towhee. :)

I don't know what this bird is but, they have a lot of them. It scurries up and down the trees. FAST!!!!!

Here's another photo of same unknown bird

Not sure what this one is either?????

Light was fading when I saw this Brown-headed Cowbird. I used Picasa to lighten it up. Still not the best pic I've made, but it'll have to do.

I wonder if Elements 7 would have done any better on it. I may give it a try.

BTW, today, I ordered a Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 AF DG OS HSM APO Autofocus Lens for my Canon 40D. Several of you have one and from all the positive reviews I read on Amazon, I figured I'd give it a try. If it is as good as folks say, I may end up selling my Canon 70-300 IS USM lens. Time will tell.

claudcat, that first bird is a White-breasted Nuthatch.

That last one beats me. I'm looking forward to being told what it is, also.

I'd guess California Towhee, tho' it's not the best of pics for telling!

First bird is white breasted nuthatch

Chris, I can't believe you have the tree sparrows. I've been looking for them, and so far nothing. Might have to leave my back yard to find some.

Hack, nice to see some of the birds that are spring birds for me up here (Towhee and Robin).

SO! Today was the first of the season visit from a Northern Flicker (yellow shafted). My word, I'm not sure if it's been a while since I had seen one of these or this one is a hefty specimen, but just seemed like a HUGE bird to me.

Here it had gotten a big chunk off the suet.
