This past weekend, with the snow storm, I've had well over 40 Dark-eyed Juncos. They were less skittish as were the other birds as were the other birds. Since I could not get out to the field where I'd rather be, I took advantage of the situation. So I set up my rig, perches and seeds sat back on my porch and allowed the birds to come to me. So here we go...1st photo is my camera set up used to capture the images and the rest are the Juncos
Juncos, Juncos and more Juncos
Al, what beautiful images. So sharp and the background colours complement the shots so well. Fantastic new rig.
Edited for spelling.

Wonderful photos Met!
Wow...just beautiful Al...the birds and your rig (which is in good hands)!!
Very nice collection Al. And a nice set up. I suspect you are hopelessly addicted.
Do you use the Better Beamer a lot? On all your images that I checked the EXIF info on, the flash did not fire.
I rarely use mine but I do carry it in my bag. I find it clumsy when I am shooting off hand. Maybe with the 600mm I may try to use it more since I won't be able to hand hold that bad boy.
Beautiful photos Met! Great set up too. Looks like you have great colors for the background too. Nice work.
Excellent shots, Al. Congratulations on your new setup.
Very sharp and clear. Love it.
Wow every shot a piece of art!! WTG AL! Id have to sell my Mustang to buy a lens like that. (Never) lol. Is the sun out when you take your pictures? They all look so well lit, just trying to get an understanding of the of the lighting you had, so maybe I could help myself down the road.
You nailed them Methodical, all are real clear.
Hack
Thanks everyone...sorry for the late response...off 'til 1/4 and doing lots of work around the house.
I haven't been able to get to the field lately with the snow so I had to play with the new rig in my backyard. Yesterday I used the 50D, instead of the 1D MkIII, with the lens and 1.4x and whoa...that's another 200mm FOV (1120mm) which put me really close to the birds. I can't wait to get the field...I've been trying to capture the image of this one elusive Belted Kingfisher in a nearby wetland.
Dave I usually install the BB just in case I need the light boost, however, when the light is right I turn the flash off. Dave I know you know you are going to love the 600; hope, better yet, sure you got your support system together. Have you used it yet?
Burd so you are a Mustang man too. I have a built '95 Cobra (last 5.0 pushroad); that is my other hobby.
Here are a few more withe 50D and better light.
