have not gone to my bird books yet - i saw an indigo blue bird around the corner from here maybe the size of a robin - any idea what this might be?
Coffee Break #27 - Return of the light
Indigo Bunting?
Great videos, Allison. Much clearer now.
Takes time, Bill. I am hoping to be able to run again after I get my knee done. Just doing the elliptical now and it's not only boring, but just does not do the same as running.
it is not the same a running is right - even though you are using your arms it is not the same - i can feel it in my shoulders just having to carrying them the 3 miles - i think walking as fast as possible for a few miles is better - knee surgery in not good - when i had mine 10 years ago i could not put weight on it for 6 weeks, that is pretty hard to do - and almost took a headed down the stairs getting down to the kitchen once due to the crutches.
Arthroscopic or cut??
artho micro fracture
sherri i think it was an indigo bunting - have blue birds in my yard everyday now so it was not them
it looks the Bay Watch in boston has been cancelled - Jason Bay is supposed to sign with victor's mets early next week - victor get ready for some bombs off his bat and some of the ugliest strike outs you will ever see, do not expect a flashy glove - manny is a better outfielder imho.
Really?! Manny's an adventure in the field.
Poor Victor--gets stuck with all our cast offs. :-( Boo-hoo...
manny is underrated - makes some goofs and they are national news when they happen - still can go and make a great catch and he gets the ball in faster than anyone out there - very quick release - was always up in the assist leaders at fenway - bay will make the routine play, not the great catch and strolls after balls like manny if they get by him
You're not making me feel very good!
Manny was a decent fielder when he was up for a contract renewal particularly. He has the ability but can dog it when he is in a snit. Not what you would call a team player imo. :)
Never a team player, but one of the best hitters ever. Just a total moron.
Exactly!
a moron with millions
bay is making too much for a 270 hitter
They're all making too much these days. Mediocre players are millionaires. It's crazy.
Bill - I'm happy for you that you are getting out there and enjoying your runs. Good for you.....hope the knee stays cooperative! You GO, guy!!!! I agree on the Indigo Bunting....we had one that was a regular in Conn. Wish one would visit us in NH. They are one of the prettiest birds I've ever seen. The blue is stunning!
Bill, I'm sitting here eating cake and ice cream and drinking eggnog and thinking, I sure am glad I'm not out there jogging. I applaud your dedication!
Karen
My grandaughter came in at 15 minutes, 35 seconds Saturday for her two mile run. Surprisingly she ran faster on the second mile. You guys want to race her? She's 7.
I walk three miles a day, takes me close to 40 minutes. I was never a runner. I do the treadmill in winter as I really hate the cold. My brother at age 77 runs/ walks 14-16 miles most days, then bowls, checks his traps, shoots horseshoes, hunts, plays softball, golfs, depending on the weather, but he always runs/ walks. My daughter runs 8 miles three times a week, plus does karate 4 times a week.
I really think some physical activity is a necessity, not only for your body, but for your mind.
We cross posted, Karen. I think drinking eggnog is absolutely necessary for mental health, too. LOL.
Cousins think alike; chocolate and merlot here (hic) ^_^
have a little eggnog left here too
i'll kick here butt polly.................if she beats me:)
Well, she is almost a black belt, and can kick way above her head, so she might give you a 'time'.
I had to go get a glass of eggnog, LOL.
15 miles a day?!! Wow. Too much, in my opinion.
Yup. Well, he is 77, and no health problems, LOL. Certainly more than I would wish to do. He's been running since he did track in high school.
I just increased my walks to 3 miles every morning unless I wake up late on work days, then I do what I can. It takes almost an hour, but that includes getting me and the dog ready. After reading this, I think I need to step it up more.
LOL! Polly, you're absolutely right, but we mustn't make a habit of it.
Well, I'm never gonna get in shape drinking eggnog. I did go bowling last night. Does that count? LOL!
Deb, 3 miles every morning I think is plenty! Add some strength training twice a week and you're good to go.
I just started reading a book called 'Younger Next Year; Live Strong, Fit and Sexy Until You're 80 and Beyond' by Chris Crowley and Henry S. Lodge, M.D. It's geared towards men, but the same principals can be applied to women as well. So far it's very good. I need to make some changes in my life if I want to be healthy in my old age.
Karen
polly i can ony hope to be alive and half as active as yor brother!!
I know, at 77, 78 on 1/8, alive sounds good to me. My brother was in the service when I was born, first met me when I was three.
I work with a nurse who is 70--she can run circles around me!
15 miles a day is even more than marathoners do! Most do around 10, until they get closer to the race. On the flip side, at 77, no need to worry about long-term effects on your joints!
That's true. And he's never had any knee problems. I know when he does his traps he checks them daily, and that's quite a walk, especially in the snow.
The only medical problem I've ever known him to have was he had blockage in the carotid artery that had to be cleaned out, but they said his other arteries were fine. He doesn't even have high blood pressure.
My aunt Minnie died at age 90 when she suffered a heart attack throwing huge rocks in the garden.
I love it when you go to the Drs and they ask you if you have a family history of heart problems, and I say my parents both had heart problems, mom at 89, and dad at 88, and they put down history of heart trouble. What are people supposed to die from? At age 59, I really don't consider it a pressing issue.
Hee hee. I would not worry. My grandmother was 99 and grandfather (both on dad's side) was 90. My father looks in his late 60's and he's 82. Still goes to the same YMCA three times a week that he's been going to since he was 16!! I've always said that my two workout heroes were my dad and Jack Lalanne.
Isn't that too funky weird pollyk? Obviously Drs need a 'reason' we die. I hope I'm like your aunt; throwing rocks at 90. Maybe Damien the Spawn of Satan will run slower by then and I might actually hit him.
me too!
and it sounds like your brother does a lot of walking to make up that 15 miles a day. gotta keep busy
