Millipedes suddenly inside house

These little b(*****s showed up yesterday afternoon, at least that is when we first saw them. They appear to be millipedes, yellow to ochre in color, an inch or so long, very narrow bodies. All over the ceiling.
Got all of them as far as I could tell.
This morning we noticed nothing, noon today about two dozen all over the ceiling. Cleaned them out manually and two hours later I have the same amount, cleaned out, more in a hour so.
I can't tell where they are coming from. The windows are sealed well. We have some water damage in the kitchen scheduled for repair next week (sheetrock exposed). The area above the kitchen is an attic and I did not notice anything up there last week. We replaced our roof on 12/7 and 12/8 including some plywood.

I know this is an outdoor forum but I am desperate to find out what these are and how to contain they before they escape the kitchen and run amok in the rest of the house. The exterminators are closed until Monday morning., Help

Don't waste your money on an exterminator; this appears to be a larva of an Indian meal moth, Plodia interpunctella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/b85uyb for images of larvae and adults. A ceiling location is very typical for fully grown larvae, as they leave their food source and seek out a safe place to pupate. What you do need to do is to carefully inspect your pantry and all other food storage areas for the presence of these insects and/or signs of their feeding damage. These insects will feed on a very wide variety of dry food products, including cereals, dried fruit, dry pet food, and bird seed. See http://tinyurl.com/ydcqqnd for a fact sheet that includes control recommendations. Several years ago, we had an infestation of these pests in our pantry that we controlled through a thorough cleaning followed by keeping all infestable food items in tightly sealed plastic or glass containers.
