Okay, Where is Linda? Did she go to Vegas, or on some exotic cruise? Is she okay? I miss her!
If anyone knows how she is, please let us know.
Thanks!

She hasn't posted in weeks/months.

Here I am, here I am!! You be partying without me? I've missed you all.

My mother has required extra attention over the past few months, as has my yard, with the weather changing, and . . . oh, the list goes on. I'll spare you the details. You oughta see the layers of leaves I've spread out over the bare dirt. I even had the City crew do a couple of bows, with some stunning red leaves from down the street, dumping them on my corner lot. What a hoot!! They thought I was some kind of goofball, for sure.

But, probably the biggest time thief, outside of the above, has been trying to pull together the pieces of my mother's work on our family genealogy into a coherent presentation for her Christmas present this year. Gotta have SOMEthing to talk to her about as she keeps sinking into her dementia. Do you have any idea how much it takes to learn the software on your own machine, as well as the various genealogy sites you need in order to do your search. And then there are the XXXXth cousins XXtimes removed you meet online and who help you with some pieces you would never have found without them.

What a HUGE project this has turned out to be!! Pidgie found me on the photography site asking about watermarking photos to put up on a tree at Ancestry.com without having some uncommunicative too-distant relative stealing 'em without asking. She gently slapped me around and sent me running over to join you .

Partying? Aha, youse guys are doin' a gr8 job on my behalf. And I am grateful for the kind thoughts obviously having gone into it.

Here's one of the photos I'm working with. It's a sketch one of my grandfather's young students at the boy's school he started in Florida in the early 1900's did of him. It looks JUST LIKE him. It's an amazing piece of pencil sketch work. It's an awesome piece. And I trust you with it.

Thx, Pidgie!!! What a sweetie you are. What a bunch of sweeties you all are! I'll try to be more communicative. Hugs to all!

Ooooo, what pretty little pink flowers, SW, Pidgie!

SW, you gettin' accustomed to your new camera? You sure gained some depth in those petals, girl!

Pidge, that rose is "to-die-for."

Thanks, both of you for the gifts!

Well, I'm glad you checked in so we know you are still around! I soooo understand about the family history thing. I've been working on mine and DH's for many years. Don't know if it will ever be anything but a database, but I love it. I did manage to give my dad a seven-foot wide family chart before he died, so that was worth it right there. Good luck - I'd love to hear what you end up with. You're a good daughter.

Merry Christmas, and give The Mop Tops a cuddle for me.

So glad to hear from you! Must be a "virus" goin' around----I dMailed ecrane3, as I hadn't seen her posting lately either. Guess what she's been working on??? Yep, her family tree to share with her grandma for Christmas.

I've been doing research on mine off and on since I was a little kid, but I really got going on it about 10 years ago when my friend showed me all the cool stuff she'd done with hers on the internet. I upgraded my 2005 FTM software this year, and I don't like some of the changes they've made; I'm having to redo some of the stuff I'd done before, and I think it's less intuitive than the older versions. I'll sit down to spend 30 minutes, start pulling a "string" and the next thing I know I've been sitting in front of the computer for 5 hours....

Recently I connected with someone who had a minor error about my family in his public tree, and by putting our heads together we were able to go back a whole generation to Europe with the branch's pre-immigration spelling.

I love that sketch---how lucky you are to have it!!! I have a whole box of photos from my maternal GM upstairs, and haven't carved out the time to tackle them yet.

So happy to hear you're making progress on your garden, too. Have a wonderful holiday, hugs to you & the MopTops!!!

Yea, this beats the mocasin telegraph! We found Linda and the Moptops.
I have delegated most of the family geneology on DH's side to his 2nd Cousin, although I have some photos to finish scanning into the computer for the History Society.
I let my Uncle handle my Mom's side of the family, and my sil has been working on consolidating Dad's family, Mom's family and her own family. Fascinating subject, and time consuming project.
I do hope that your gifts will be ready for sharing at Christmas. : - )
I have been continuing to take photos, but I don't post as many these days, Linda. I went and caught everything my kid brought home from school, but I'm feeling better now. So I'll start playing around more with it.
My Mom's broken ankle is improving, but she still has some weakness in mobility, and some memory problems from the stroke. Other than that, things are pretty much the same.
Linda, that is a beautiful pencil drawing of your grandfather, if you don't display it, you should use archive paper to help preserve it. What a nice way to know how the artist felt about him. It takes a a lot of time to develop that much skill and talent with a pencil. If I wasn't worried about it being ruined due to it's age, I'd recommend a fixative to protect the pencil work from smudging.
What a lovely gift of time and caring that drawing is. It's nice to see it brings back good memories for you!
Do pop in when you can. We do miss you. : - )
