adel, don't you just love the Arcata marsh? So, who do you think you are taking all those lovely pictures and making
me homesick. LOL. Looks like it was a nice day to take a wal around the marsh. So peacful.
BTW...I lived in Trinidad and will be moving back at some point. I have a house in Westhaven. :)

VA Rose nice shots on the previous thread of the Sanderling and the Cormorant (love the blue eye) glad I went and got that camera.

How come Clark has his own grebe? Love the shorebird pictures. If the grebe name comes from early 19th century I guess he got there first, of course.

PERTH, Australia

This Nankeen Night Heron was at our koi pond very early yesterday morning. Fortunately, it didn't get one or injure one in the attempt. This is the only shot I got of it, with the sun behind it, before it flew off in the direction of the swamp.

Adel, Thanks for starting the new thread! I especially love the Clark's Grebe & American Avocet. Great job!

Met, Love those Eagle shots!

Margaret, Although a nuisance what a beautiful bird to have in your yard!

Resin I stand corrected on the herring Gull......Claudcat when I first got to Arcata it was cold and the wind blowing about 30mph but the next day was much better.

(Willet)

Nice one of the Willet!

Ps. I'll have admin fix the vol. number on your thread.

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

This this thread took off!

I had a question from the previous thread from VA_Wild_Rose - here's my answer: yes, I have Tamrons, a 1.4x and a 2x. However, I didn't have them the afternoon I snapped the Turkey pics.

I find that the 1.4x is more successful (auto focus) than the 2x. I've only had the 2x only a short time and have not had a sunny day to try it. Sunny days are recommended (not lots of light), or else you'll have to manually focus.

I find that the 1.4x auto focuses pretty well. But, like I said the key is having enough light to work it. On a sunny day the 1.4x is good. I've yet to have a sunny day with the 2x. But with manual focus, the 2x does alright.

adel, typical weather, have fun in town . I thought when you wrote willet your going to Willets. LOL..

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Adel, what a great start for the new thread!! Love the pelican!! I have yet to see a yellow-legs here, but I'm told to keep looking.

CC, your little dove is beautiful and the goldfinch really seems happy. I didn't know the goldfinches liked the seeds in those pods.
Hack great job with the turkeys.
Burn, I feel sorry for your poor little grackle. I do hope it will survive that winter. That jay is a beauty and love the one with the finches and the snow.
Wild Rose, your sanderling and cormorant are wonderful!

Met, excellent photography! I especially loved the close-up of the eagle. I think I can see his tonsils! Amazing!
Burd, love your little chickadee!
Frank, cute warbler!!
Margaret, love your night heron. Glad he didn't get a fish.

I have a cute little "no tail" Dark eyed Junco that has become a regular visitor to my peanut butter log!

I'm still taking photos through the windows, but at least the birds are finally starting to eat from the log.

Here's an Oak Titmouse that seems to enjoy the peanut butter with peanuts added.

adelbertcat - That American Avocet is one nice looking bird.

Methodical, that Bald Eagle in the 2nd pic looks like its spied dinner.

Burd_Fotos - That Black-capped Chickadee looks a lot like my Carolina Chickadees.

f_chisolm - Your Pine Warbler is a striking bird. Pretty

MargaretK - The Nankeen Night Heron is something. And here I was thinking herons had long necks.

Hey ducbucln, I'm glad the birds have found your log feeder. From you success, I may have to make me one - do you reckon one kind of wood is better than another? I've got a lot of Suet feeders out (with peanut butter suet in them) and I'm still watching to see my first Dark eyed Junco.

adelbertcat - I've never seen an American Wigeon before. Thanks for showing me a new bird.

Great shots all! Duc, like the log you picked for feeding. I'll be on vacation for a while and plan on finding a more natural looking piece of wood than the chunk of firewood I currently use.lol

Marlton, NJ

Nice ones duc and adel!

adel, I think it was 226. :-)

Clinton, MD(Zone 7a)

I'm sitting here looking out the window at the snow and I have between 30-40 Juncos all over my backyard just having a feeding frenzy. I knew the snow would bring many visitors today.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Wonderful Pics,
Adelbertcat, They are all great really loved American Avocet with the water reflection.
Methodical, Those Eagle shots are wonderful. We have a section of Conowingo Creek that runs by here. It flows into the Susquehanna River. So I don't think it would be the Conowingo that runs near you. Yes we have snow comming down like crazy here and my feeders are filled with doves, juncos, titmouse and other small birds, there are several cardinals. I saw a jay earlier but no WP yet. Holly

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Wow, you all will be enjoying a wonderful white Christmas with all those juncos and cardinals! Pictures????

Adel, great picture of the wigeons.

I had to make a "u" turn on our one lane highway to check out this White-tailed Kite. There was a fog hanging over the field and he was just sitting there on a pole. I got to within 20 ft. of him before he said that's enough and took off.

He was so beautiful and I was so sorry that the sky wasn't blue to show him off better.

A flock of Cedar Waxwings were enjoying the berries on the trees. There are other trees full of berries everywhere, but they seem to clear one tree before they move on to the next.
