RRM: I am so not good at explaining things but this is how I do it: At the very top of your screen you should see:

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1062600

That is the url. If you click inside that box to the left of the http it should highlight in blue. My computer shows a little flower left of http and I click on that little flower and it highlights the whole box. If I click elsewhere in the box it won't highlight.

After it is highlighted, go to the top of your screen to where it says Edit and scroll down and click on Copy. Now go back to the page where you want to put the link and type something in (leave a space after your typed sentence) and then go back up to the top of your screen to where it says Edit, go down and click on Paste and it should past the link into your typed post. It will show up black until you click on preview or send. There's a thread someplace for practicing stuff ... I will go and see if I can find it and come back here and link you to it so you can practice awhile.

Here's the Test Forum where you can practice: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/test/all/ Just go down to the bottom and start a new thread and test away!

edited to correct my spelling!

thanks Lin,
I'll give it a try.
seray has been trying to get it through tis old hard head too.
Maybe tween the two of you, I'll learn.

It took me awhile to get it right. I would post a link and it would work for awhile, then all of a sudden I'd try and try and it would show up black, not highlighted ... so no one could click on it! Then ecrane3 told me I needed to leave a space between what I typed and pasting the link.

RRM: You are so very welcome! I feel so computer illiterate sometimes ... so much of it is waaay beyond my comprehension! It feels great when we grasp something new doesn't it? My problem sometimes is if I don't write it down, I forget it 5 minutes after I learn how to do it ... and I must admit, sometimes I lose my notes! ^_^

((((( Hugs ))))) right back atcha!

These is one we can keep using and then maybe we won't forget so much.
I love learning new things. Just wish I had started 40 years ago, durn I'd be so smart I couldn't
stand myself..☺ Ain't I crazy???

Here's another easy method, hover your curser over the URL, right click and it brings up a menu. Select copy, then click where you want to post it, right click again, select paste.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

And another way to copy and paste -
Hilight what you want to copy by holding down your left button on your mouse as your curser goes over what you want to copy. Then when hilighted, hit your Ctrl key on the left lower most corner of your keyboard and also hit the letter c. Then go to where you want to drop the higlighted material and this time hit the Ctrl key again but with the v letter.

At least now,I know where to find the URL. That is what I was not finding. But have it now.
I want to Thank each and everyone for all the help. Love you all.

I will have to try those methods when I'm on the desktop machine ... my laptop doesn't have a left/right clicker mouse, it has one of those touch pads.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

The touch pad for laptops drove me nuts, I had to buy a mouse!

(Zone 1)

Oh ... I much prefer the touch pad! I remember the job I was at first in the 70's first started us using computers and we didn't have the mouse ... just typed in what file etc. we were looking for. That was before the internet days. Then my husband got his first (of many) Mac's and I teased him about the mouse ... telling him it was just a toy that it was so much easier to just type in what you were looking for! It took me awhile to get used to the mouse, then the trackball thing (which we have on our desktop ... much easier than moving a mouse around! Now both of our laptops have the keypads, but some are touchier than others. Sometimes I will be using my keypad and the little arrow icon will go haywire and be all over the screen! Usually it settles down once I wipe off the flat touchpad thing.
