Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

All of you enablers have done wonderful... I only wish I was as talented

Lodi, United States

It was a stitch I've never tried before--Wrong Stitch Rib--or something. Very easy and it went quickly because I used bulky....I usually get rather depressed somewhere in the first third of a scarf, because I think it will never end.....

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I know what you mean. It seems to never end.

I have been told to take a couple days of from crocheting. Boredom.

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

Catscan, we have the same carpet where I work. It must be standard dreary office carpet....lol.

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

I have finished and mailed GreyKyttyn's NWD. I can do one for Fran if no one else has started hers; my yarn collection features mainly blues, purples, grays.

Clarkson, KY

Cool. I'll edit...

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I am working on a lighter NWD that is red, gray and I think purple. Very soft and pretty

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

what will I ever sulk about once I receive my NWD? I will have to think very seriously.. I am sure I will come up with something.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

I will be working on Batflower's NWD again soon.

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

LOL Frans still come sulk in the corner, give substance to the ones that are in the sulking quest...

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

LoreenH - if i didn't say thank you enough in the dmail.. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. :) I can't wait for the mail. I know it will be a few days but i still check the box each day. (yes i'm pathetic but i never get mail other than bills!)

I will still sulk for snow... have not see it yet. My luck I'll take my trip to WA & it will snow here then... Trying to go the second week of Jan.. I'll know more on that after tomorow. :)

I am RE-DOing g_g's....I did that stupid thing I always do when I haven't knitted in ages...that thing where you make the edges curl by double knitting???rrrggh...7 inches...

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I keep droping stitches.
I am hoping now snow over this way. I will be on the road all day. Talk at you tomorrow

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Grow, I would be happy with curled edges or whatever!!! The snow is very very snowy here and NWDs would be luvverly. Yesterday I had many plans to go out and about, procure some foodstuffs, buy the occasional stocking stuffer for GD and such, and mayhap search out a seasonal sweater for moi, since my old ones are tired. DH kindly offered to disinter my car from the garage and start me on my way, but alas, Volvos, although from Sweden and therefore theoretically used to inclement weather, are not good in fifteen inches of snow, even where a Jeep has considerately broken ground before them. Much swearing and casting about of snowshovels ensued. Howsomeever, I prevailed with my carpet idea, and he was at least able to free the embarrassed vehicle from the thralls of the snowbunnies sufficient unto itself to return said car to the garage. Me, I ended up taking the Jeep. It needed four-wheel drive all down our quarter-mile driveway...

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

we live on the side of a hill, i have a Hyundai Tiburon... I'd give anything for a nice jeep wrangler when it snows. If it snows even a couple inches you can't get in & out of our drive due to the angle.. it spits people attempting this into the clutches of the snow bunnies in the neighbors ditch. Our snow bunnies don't let go of cars till they dance on their merry way. So i stay home or park my car several drives up the hill (have to go UP hill to get to town) & walk to it.

I'm glad you & the poor car are alright.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Kyttyn! I know what you're talking about. When we lived on an island in WA State, we had a similarly long driveway which wended its way down to our cottage and the rocky shore. In the spring, everyone parked their cars at the top of their driveways, on the road, and walked down to heir homes, because otherwise you'd get well and truly stuck in the slippery mud caused by the spring thaw!

Four-wheel drive was unpopular for a while there when gas was so high, and a lot of people really don't need it, but for situations like ours they're indispensable. I wish we had a tractor with four-wheel drive, too!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Wren, that red grey and purple sounds pretty! I have a small scarf knitting board that makes a pretty scarf. I might try my hand at it again after Christmas. And then, again, I might not!

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

greenhouse_gal... 4 wheel drive NEVER became unpopular here.. people did the clunkers for cash & traded an old pickup in for a brand new 4 wheel drive oversized pickup. :) Nice fuel hogs. Its a way of life. You can't do the work they do on the farms in certain styles of vehicles.. just not possible.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

No, I know, that's why we have one. It pulls the trailer and the boats and hauls deer to be checked in and picks up salt hay. I don't know what we'd do without it. But so many people around here have them without any earthly reason to need one. Those are the people who traded them in when the fuel prices went up. My son sells cars and he couldn't even give SUVs away, for a while there!

Sapello, NM(Zone 5b)

I have a Toyota Highlander that is an absolute panty waist when it comes to a little snow and ice... great clearance, but just looses its grip in the face of rural reality. I tend to think that clearance is due to lifting its skirts in dismay at the DIRT in the country...

I have an SUV that minces... oh, dandy.

Clarkson, KY

in crinolins or crinolines?? lol...

Lodi, United States

Volvos are notoriously bad in the snow....we had a Volvo station wagon in Upstate NY...we also lived at the bottom of a long sloping gravel driveway....spent hours trying to get up in the winter. Then, whenever the roads got the least icy, it would slide sideways while everyone else shot past. The Volvo dealership attributed it to rear wheel drive.

However the final insult was when the car wouldn't start one very cold morning and the Volvo service department informed us that the gas in the tank had frozen. They then explained that Volvo gas tanks are placed in such a way that they are very inclined to freeze.

Uh hu....what is up with the Swedes?

Sapello, NM(Zone 5b)

Flounces about in crinolines... and designer hiking boots. Veeeery rugged, in a totally useless sort of way.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

The Swedes have a crafty sense of humour, it would seem.

Sapello, NM(Zone 5b)

Jah, vell, its yust another reason to stay inside and quaff national drink, jah.

My lil hyundai will stay safely parked... it won't clear plowed snow at all.. Mom's escalade... I hate on snow.. drives something awful.. but it sure will clear a 3 ft drift if you go fast enough. It has automatic traction control... I HATE this.. I nearly killed myself bc it engaged at the complete wrong moment on an icy parking lot that sloped. There is no way to turn it off on her year of vehicle either.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Catsy, I've been driving Volvos since my first one in '87, and I've never had issues with them before. They always handled well because of the front wheel drive. But we haven't had this much snow for about 20 years, and the last time our mayor plowed our long driveway out for us. This time DH had to use his tractor, which left big humps in the middle of the ruts, and that's how my car got stuck. We're expecting rain today, so I hope that will mean that I can get out myself!

Lodi, United States

Most Volvos--at least the stationwagons--had rear wheel drive at the time--which is why they were so bad in icy conditons.....my next car was a Subaru Legacy (front wheel drive) and it was great in the snow.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Hmmm, I didn't think my '87 D40 wagon had rear-wheel drive but maybe it did. I usually look for front-wheel because they handle so much better. I still haven't tried getting out the driveway, though!

Hey All!! Please check back for me now and again and see if there's a poor forgotten soul whose name hasn't appeared in the sulking queue...for me?? Please?? Can't have wandering naked necks on my conscience...

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes please let us know I have a couple of NWD's done and yarn for a couple of more

Sapello, NM(Zone 5b)

Well, I was going to say Melissa_Ohio, but I see someone's on the ball and not only that, but my nonstandard, illegal, renegade, outlaw, beyond the pale wish for a watchcap is on the list! Oh my...

But MsJester isn't on the list.... I just read her DG guardian thread, and by golly that woman needs, nay DESERVES a NWD... or several. What ever happened to that pink NWD that was forming up?

Clarkson, KY

Jay -I'm fairly sure the schemes are more than just 'afoot' -but I could be wrong...
