yes, Moxie, you did catch the subtle hint of me asking for that yarn. It will be the most colourful thing I own, so, you can take credit for adding colour into my wardrobe :-)

Lamb Stuffed Butternut Parmesan for g_g

1 nicely diced butternut squash
1 nicely minced onion
2 c spaghetti sauce
1 c bread crumbs or in my case leftover stuffing mix
1+tbs olive oil
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tsp basil
1/2 tsp rosemary
1/2 tsp salt (yes, you can [of course] do less!!)
1/3 lb ground lamby
4 ramekins
However much shredded Mozza!
(1tsp oregano, pepper to taste)

Into oven safe bowl all your spices but (these), olive oil, and diced squash. Stir well to coat. Preheat oven to 350º and put this in while you...
Throw lamb and diced onion into frying pan and cook til onion is clear and lamb not pink. Add spaghetti sauce, heat to boiling. Add (herbs and spices) and bread crumbs and stir til well blended. Remove from heat. Now add this to the squash, stir together well and load your ramekins. Cover with the shredded cheese and stuff in the oven. 30 minutes should do ya. (I put the cubed squash in while the oven is heating and I'm working to make sure it got well cooked as it, by itself takes more like 45 min)

That sounds Fabby Grow! I am going to try it with ground turkey or pork!

Clarkson, KY

I was in major food ecstasies over that one last night! Came out Perfect. And hopefully this time I'll have this for a recipe so I can repeat it!! lolol...so bad about that.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

O Grownut, what if one is ramekin-challenged? I have not a ramekin on the place. Could one, should one, utilize a casserole dish?

And how doth one cut up a butternut squash, pray tell? Are they not tough nuts to crack, methinks?

Could one dice said comestibles viciously? Or prudently? Or fastidiously? Or wantonly? Nicely seems so bo-o-o-oring, especially on a dull winter's day.

I could give you a receipt for pumpkin pizzelles if you like, in exchange. Failing that or even along with that, a million thanks!

Clarkson, KY

Oh glory-ory, g_g!! I sat on my loquacious button and it's jammed!!
But.......
Works great as a casserole. I used a peeler to take the rind off and then sliced and diced. Much like doing a rather rambunctious potato. Fairly small as I didn't want to wait for it to cook and over brown the cheese. But oooh was it sweet!!

Pumpkin pizzelles? Haven't ever had the pleasure...how, when and what, or do I mean which, does one pizzelle?? Does it take patience?
recipes requiring patience, I find, are best given to others...I am an elder in the Slap and Dash...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

My goats can get pizzle rot if they are not careful, it is a serious affliction. Hopefully not associated with pumpkin pizzelles.

Dahlia uses other sorts of dishes for her Lasolleishsishna whatever things.

Clarkson, KY

Y'know, Claire...if you upped the meat content and made the dices really small you might manage to fool Kelly into eating it...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Are you kidding me? The dices would have to be non-existently small and re coloured so he did not realize it was any sort of vegetable. Or cut in the shape of corn kernels and dyed so. Corn, potato and mushrooms are his only concessions in the veg department. Oh, and of course no onion. No no, it is too much trouble, he can make his usual ramen noodles and steak and have done with it.

Clarkson, KY

Did I mention here I thought it could be frozen and so done as several servings?

And the color of the spaghetti sauce rather masks the squash...but I feel your pain...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

You gals are the delite of my day!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Hi y'all my new attempt as a scarf is 12 inches long. Let's see needs to be 5 ft long at this rate may have it done in 5 days. Love the soft, pretty colors of this yarn.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Pizzelles are totally and udderly unrelated to pizzles, my dear Moxie, being Italianate cookie-type things baked in a special mold. One can use an ancient heirloom cast-iron thingy or go 21st century with a plug-in model that makes two at a time. Grownut, it does require a modicum of patience, but far less so than the intense knitting and purling and comparing of colors and gauges going on on this here thread...Howsomever, lacking a pizzelle-maker one would be at a loss to achieve a fit sample of said delicacy.

I have found that whirling key ingredients in a blender or processor masks a multitude of healthy cruciferous or squashitudinous or leguminous veggies, which can then be eaten without suspicion by the unwary and thereby can contribute to the health and vigor theretofore and thereof. It's a pain and also very time-consuming if the silly critters sicken on you. They should have more consideration, is what I think. Failing that, a little subterfuge in a good cause is never really amiss.

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

i've got but a minute.. but i learned to cut my butternut squash into 1 inch rounds... then peal each round. They peal easier that way for me.. I do my sweet potatoes the same way. after that I just dice each round.

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

So divine Miss CMOXON, that is a lovely shade of pink... the Sheep that guard it are quite the pair...
Got to try the recipie that sounds yummy...

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh my.... how on earth can one speak of pizzle rot and butternuts in the same sentence...

I am knitting right along with my little test.. My dd had a skien of yukky red heart yarn.. so I am playing/learning with the loom.. I am makeing a test sock.. I am to the heel.. I see a few mistakes.. but hey at least I can see them.. I can't wait to try this again with my own fiber!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Well fran has the colors of this second scarf of mine. Let me know if you would like it or not.
If so d mail me your address. It is 3 feet long you might want to wait for a longer one.

Any one else out there not on the list?? I like doing quick easy scarfs.

I have lots of yarn.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

OK Batflower....what do you think so far? If it's not to your liking, tell me now so I don't keep going. I combined the (gently) colored natural toned yarn with a bulky charcoal yarn for extra warmth, so I am knitting with 2 strands, and doing a ribbed scarf (again for nice bulky warmth). Seriously, if you don't like it, tell me and I can do something else. :-) I don't want to make you a scarf you won't wear. :-)

Here is a closer picture with flash - makes it look brighter than it really is.

OK, last pic, close up, no flash, more true to life of how the colors are coming out (very subtle if you ask me)

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

awww why thank you MissJestr. Wish i could get curls like that all the time. :(

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Grownut, how luvverly to hear news of my incipient NWD! Thank you, thank you! And what can I do in return?

Claire, that scarf is just gorgeous and it looks totally warm, too. Batflower will be toasty in it.

I don't do Facebook; I just don't have time, and I spend enough hours on the computer as it is between forums and email. My DH thinks that some people need to get a life when I read him a particularly funny bit from an email or a board. But then, he's a curmudgeon anyway, and proud of it! Plus he hates all things tech-y.

Dartmouth, NS(Zone 6a)

Oh, Claire, Its sooo nice! It looks so warm. I can't wait! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

{{and again, I'm doing a happy dance}}

Grey, I don't think I have you on facebook, D-mail sent

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

OK third NWD is done-need to know who is next and what color they want. Tomorrow I will take pictures of the colors that I have.

Richmond, TX

Overachiever!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

LOL I sit in my chair and if I do not keep my hands busy I go nuts-or nutter than I already am.(They are about the only thing that still works right.)
One Christmas I made 6 afghans in a month.

Lodi, United States

ZZ's NWD is finished! Five foot +, cause she is tall. With fringe and bling--both removable....now for frans' pedal warmers.

The picture doesn't really show the colour because of the flash--it is darker than it appears.

This is closer to the colour--note the attractive office wall to wall....
