Here we go again with a new thread . In case you missed something, we came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1060721/

Here is one from yesterday that I thought was cute. He was waiting on the deck to get at the meal worm feeder.

Lots of activity around the feeder yesterday, due mostly to this mockingbird that couldn't get into the cage, so he just sat there, not letting any of the smaller birds in either.

A real bully but still a beautiful bird.

He kept all the smaller birds jumping.

But some were obviously hungry. And impatient.

Three or four tufted titmice were there for quite some time..

Incredible pics Dave! I adore that first one especially!

Thanks for starting the new thread. I'll see about the # change. :-)

Great shots Dave!! They all look perfect! The Titmouse almost look's like a toy? or something. lol

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Great shots! You could do your own Bird ID book Dave!

Port Elizabeth, South Africa(Zone 10a)

I agree, Dave. Great shots.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Nice start dave! you've got some good lighting there!

We got some snow overnight and are expecting the big storm to start in a while. However, like burd said previously, at least the snow helps with lighting.

It was pretty noisy here a few minutes ago, then the Juvie Cooper's Hawk flew in and *almost* got a male cardinal. I was rooting for the cardinal to escape, and he did.

Anyway, before that ruckus… an American Goldfinch.

Sweet pic Mrs Ed!

Boojun, your little Chicadee in the last thread was adorable.
Dave, I've been trying to get the takeoff of my Bewick's Wren for some time now and am not succeeding. Your shot is beautiful!! All your flying photos are spectacular, but that Blue Jay is breathtaking.
Good job Burd. I'm having to photograph through the window alot too.

Now to the new thread-Wow Dave, what a start! They're all just so sharp. I can't pick a favorite-loved them all.

Mrs Ed, glad the cardinal won too! That's a darling photo of the goldfinch.

This Peregrine Falcon was found accidentally when I was photographing a flock of seagulls flying by our home. Funny thing was, a Bald Eagle was also flying in with the gulls and no one seemed disturbed by the others.

This cute White-crowned Sparrow needed his mom to wipe his dirty nose.

Hey Linth:

FedEx just delivered my 600mm telephoto lens. Wow, this baby is BIG! Nearly 13 pounds.

Here is the first shot I took with it, at ISO 1000 and wide open at f/4. I had to move to the other side of the kitchen to get it to focus. And I can see it would be a job to find and track a moving target.

Considering it is about to rain and is very dark outside, I am pleased with it. Can't wait till when the sky is brighter so I can lower the ISO and close the f stop a bit.

Congratulations Dave! Wow 13 pounds! Beautiful shot.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Wow Dave, that photo is so crystal clear. Congrats on the new lens. That means we'll be enjoying lots of new pictures! Guess you won't be hand-holding that baby. LOL

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

Great start to the new thread, Dave. Nice sharp photos. I, personally, like the jumping bluebird.

Congratulations on your new acquisition, or is your wife also giving the 600mm to you, for Christmas ? Say YES, so I can tell my wife !!!

Anyway, the Wimberley head will handle that with ease. It takes a little getting used to. I still struggle with my 500mm sometimes on flight shots especially when they're relatively close. I've learned to lock in on them as far out as I can as they are coming toward me. The closer they are the more difficult to first pick them up. That's why I seldom use a teleconverter. Looking forward to your photos, in-flight or still.

duc, nice photo of the Peregrine Falcon. They're obviously not easy to photograph, in-flight.

Mrs. Ed, excellent photo of the goldfinch. She looks very inquisitive.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Congrats Dave!! Is it a Canon lens? Been looking at prices on 500mm. Maybe next year. Great ones, dirt.

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

2dCousinDave - Great start for a new thread. All your shots are crystal clear and the Jay bird in flight is awesome.

Mrs_Ed, I like the GF. Hope you fair well in the storm. We had a lot of rain here, my yard is a bog!

ducbucln, I never seen one in person, but I really think that White-crowned Sparrow is pretty.

2dCousinDave - WOW, 600mm, I'd like one, but I'd have the mortgage the house. You may need a wheel barrow for your camera and 600mm lens, though. But I did pick up a Tamron 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverter for my Canon 70-300 lens.

dirt_in_ozone7b - I really like the way you framed the Towhee.
