Good Morning Jim...how is life in North La? Has the rain washed y'all away?

Delhi, LA

Yesterday was beautiful as is today. A little to cold to suit me. We got mega rain the day before.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Been pretty here too sun=wise. Woke up to 41 degrees after it got up in 70's....we got almost 5 inches of rain the day before.....weather needs to get it together...grin

Christmas Memories

Nat King Cole sings in the Christmas season
As we decorate the tree and hang up holiday lights
Parents reminding us Jesus is the reason for the season
And that we won't get any presents if we keep up with the fights

Christmas cookies baking to take to the neighbors
Just a small token of holiday cheer
Christmas Eve with the family and celebrating my brother's birthday
Such a warm winter gathering with those from far and near

The exhilaration of waiting for Christmas morning
Wondering what lies under the tree
Frost on the window as snow falls quietly
Oh what fun the morning will be!

Wrapping mom and dad's presents with smiles gleeming bright
Will they like what we got them?
Will they scream with delight?
Alas we must wait til Christmas morning
Oh when will the sun put an end to this night?!

Christmas morning has come and the dark still hovers
But my brother and I burst from under the covers
To wake our parents with screeches of glee
To see what was left for us under the tree

Wrapping paper flies everywhere
Screams of joy abound
As we see what Santa left us when he came to town
We hug our parents and play with our treasures
As our smiles fill our parents hearts beyond measure

A good time had by all
Every wish has been given
And we all go to bed
With hearts full of thanksgiving

Okay, here's a poem I wrote waaay back when my nephews were little. They use to give me a Christmas list with stuff I couldn't recognize. The DH and I would be completely lost in toy stores since we don't have any kids. Hope you'll get a smile out of this. The toys listed are old since it was written a while back. ☺

Oh, dear santa won’t you help me
Though this letter i have read
I can not understand
A single word that it has said

I’ve never seen "Snake Nation"
Or a "Go-Bot" i’ll confess
I’m not good with those computers
Though i really try my best

The "Cabbage Patch Kid" is ugly
Although i realize that’s the rage
Whatever happened to "Thumbelina"?
Or was that just another phase?

I did see some Tinker Toys
And a swell electric train
I was very impressed with "Trivial Pursuit
for those who enjoy games.

But what has happened to stick horses,
jacks, and marbles and donald duck?
Although i have been shopping
I just haven’t had a lot of luck

Now dear Santa tell me
What's an Aunt to do?
All these things on this Christmas list
I just don't have a clue!
