Thanks, Hack. What about the odds of catching a male and female Pileated Woodpecker in the same shot? This is a shot from a couple of years ago.

Wow this thread is Smokin! lol Nice shots Everyone! Got a couple more today is was really nice other than the 35 degree's, of course inside the patio it was 52. :) Finally the Cardinal has come to the feeder.

50 Starling's stopped by today but...

only 49 left.

His breakfast was to go so no mess.

Found this female Mallard sunning herself.

Here's a cute Golden crowned Sparrow that was waiting a turn at the feeder.

Burd_Fotos - Lots of real nice snaps. I, too, like the "49 left" snap. Your second flight-shot froze the action of the wings nicely. The first one appears that the House Sparrow had merely leaped in the air - wings at its sides.

dirt_in_ozone7b - Pretty Flicker, I've never come across one.

reddirtretiree - your male House Finches have real nice coloration, especially the one on the right.

Mrs_Ed - I've never seen so clearly the black spots under the tail that distinguishes a Downy WP from a Hairy WP. I'll need to remember it when advising another on the differences. Great pic! And I'm still looking for a hawk to snap - any hawk will do.

ducbucln - That scrub jay is really nice looking - all I see are Blue jays.

The White crowned Sparrows seem to be everywhere.

Can totally tell there's a winter storm on the way, the birds are going crazy here today. I have a dozen junco. I swear I never see that many at a time here!

Chickadees are hanging out at a feeder near my quince. My dog's new game is to bark at them like they are intruders. They just laugh at his antics.

Interesting shot, boojum. I like it a lot.
