Male and female Red-Bellied Woodpeckers.
DAILY PICS VOL. 263
thebestmissy - I've never seen Bewick's Wren before - nice.
gardenpom - those Painted Buntings are really something! And I wonder what are the odds of catching male and female Red-Bellied Woodpeckers in the same photo?

WOW, gardenpom, if I had your luck, I'd play the lottery :)

Great shots everyone!!!
Great job Burd!!
Nice!!
Hack great shots and congrats on the new birds. Love that grackle!! Good one of the 2 into 1 too..
Nanny, your creeper sure matches the bark on that tree. Cute one of the crows.
Missey, cute finches, wren and towhee.
GP, I'm so jealous of those beautiful red-bellies and buntings and now you come up with two Pileated too-wow!
Burd, beautiful cardinal and that hawk sure found a good spot for dinner. Great fly shots!!
Dirt, your female flicker must be pretty young. Sure is cute!
Red, cute finch photo of the guys!
Mrs Ed, wonderful shots of the squirrel vs the hawk. Cute one of the wp too!
This Scrub Jay was just landing on the feeder box.
Burd_Fotos - Lots of real nice snaps. I, too, like the "49 left" snap. Your second flight-shot froze the action of the wings nicely. The first one appears that the House Sparrow had merely leaped in the air - wings at its sides.
dirt_in_ozone7b - Pretty Flicker, I've never come across one.
reddirtretiree - your male House Finches have real nice coloration, especially the one on the right.
Mrs_Ed - I've never seen so clearly the black spots under the tail that distinguishes a Downy WP from a Hairy WP. I'll need to remember it when advising another on the differences. Great pic! And I'm still looking for a hawk to snap - any hawk will do.
ducbucln - That scrub jay is really nice looking - all I see are Blue jays.

Can totally tell there's a winter storm on the way, the birds are going crazy here today. I have a dozen junco. I swear I never see that many at a time here!
Interesting shot, boojum. I like it a lot.
Dave
