DAILY PICS VOL. 263

Norman, OK

Always good to have new birders aboard. Dave, loved the shot of the BB in the snow.

Had a lifer in the yard yesterday-- a Lapland Longspur. Hoping it will return this a.m. so I can get a pic. Here is a pic of a Goldfinch and a Tufted Titmouse on one of the feeders.

Mallards have become so common that sometimes I overlook their beauty. A trio of handsome fellows.

CC, welcome. I know you're going to enjoy seeing everyone's birds here. Now it's time you shared your wonderful photos too!

Reddirt, l love your feeder and it looks like the birds agree with me. You're right, the Mallards are beautiful birds.

The little Ruby-crowned Kinglets are becoming regular visitors at the suet feeder.

This Oak Titmouse was trying to stay warm among the berries.

This one was just jumping, grabbing and taking off from the feeder.

I love watching the White Pelicans take off from the sandbar. Never really thought about it, but it seems they always take off one at a time whether it's from land or the water. Anyone else notice this before?

The Cedar Waxwings are here one day then gone the next, but I'm sure they'll return for more berries.

Good ones guys!!

Congrats on the new yard bird red; nice pics!

Very nice pics duc! I never had either of the Kinglets go for suet ay my place; thats wonderful!

It is official now. There is an American White Pelican in Cape May!!! I'm going down tomorrow morning, wouldn't mind seeing him along with the Ivory Gull.

Melbourne, FL

I was surprised to hear, and then see a large flock of parrots a while ago.

A little closer look.

A while later a tremendous flock of Crows passed over, this is just a small section of the flock. There had to be thousands.

A few flocks of Gulls went by.

Adel, cute photos & sayings!
GP, goodness, it looks like all the birds are migrating to warmer areas.

Marlton, NJ

Nice GP!
I've heard there are a lot of parrots flying free around Fla.

Wow, just now I read there was an immature female Baltimore Oriole at Rea Farms in Cape May! You never know what you'll see down there.

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

2dCousinDave - Snow!, Wow!, your BB does not seem to be bothered at all.

BirdieBlue - Hello, I don't think I've had the pleasure of "meeting" you and seeing your pics. I look forward to it.

Burd_Fotos - Wow, you've been busy. I particularly enjoyed the expression of the male House Finch.

chris8796 - I like your water birds, but the BH in flight definitely got my attention - nice.

reddirtretiree - you are so right about the mallards, I often reflect on how pretty a male House Sparrow is, even though they have some disagreeable traits (I mean toward other birds - like BB.)

ducbucln - nice Titmouse shots. But if I saw an Oak Tm, I'd think it was a Tufted Tm. How do you tell the difference?

adelbertcat - I love the tased cat - I got a stray cat lurking around here. I've been watching it, so far, I don't it s gotten any birds. All my feeders of out of reach, but the birds that feed on the ground had better stay alert.

gardenpom - wow, when it rains it pours where you are - so many birds at once, wow!

Got me a Lifer. This is the first time I've snapped a Ring-necked Duck.

I thought it was some kind of Coot, but Resin came to my rescue with the ID.

Snapped some mallards, and like reddirtretiree said, it's easy to see them and overlook their beauty - got to "stop and smell the roses" from time to time.

I was out in Austin, Texas visiting my son and his wife for Thanksgiving when I saw this bird in the parking lot of McDonald's - luckily I had my camera. I didn't know what it was. Resin helped me out.

It is a female (brown) Boat-tailed Grackle. I'd seen plenty of the black ones, with their bright yellow eyes, but never a brown one. Resin told me the black one were males.

Nice ones nanny!

I still haven't seen a Brown Creeper yet.

I had a House Finch with some yellow mixed in the with the red. Pretty cool. There is a pure red on the feeder with it, so you can really see the difference. The mixed one is on the left.

I saw tremendous numbers of birds flying overhead today, besides the ones above, I saw flocks of Robins also. Not so many birds in my yard, and I know now it's because Hawks are in the area. Twice today different Hawks came down after something, but I don't think either time they were successful.

I sat outside today (12/6/09) on the drive way and saw lots of birds. My yard is so wet that if I take the wheelchair off the driveway, its a mess.

Here's a Brown Thrasher in the wetlands, between getting sips of water.
