Really tall jars? :) Or, you can cut them into chunks/slices.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

I have some extra seed would you like a few?

Pearland, TX

Are you wanting to pickle them or just preserve them?

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

yehudith - are you talking Peters?

sapphirestar19 - Well, pickled, but no spices or anything... just in their own juices, yano, like you would buy them jared in a store.. Im guessing thats "pickled?" Im dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to stuff like that... To me pickling and preserving are about the same thing....

Pearland, TX

Yeah, that's pickling. If you pickle, then there is vinegar involved and just a hot water bath. If they are just canned in water, that's a pepper of a different color. :D You would need to have a pressure canner. I'm sure there are recipes for pickled peppers in the canning forum.

For the past two summers I'vd tried different sweet peppers and had them fail! This summer I have gone back to what I've always grown in the past "California Wonder" and they are producing lots of peppers.

If it's not too hot for humans in the garden this weekend, I'll try to get a photo.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, shoot, im gonna have to stick to eating them fresh.. I do not have a pressure cooker...sounds like a big fus to go through for a little happy pepper! LOL!

Thanks for the info though....

Blossom, do you have a Freecycle group in your area? (Check the freecycle website) Or even Craig's List? You might be able to find one really cheap!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh yea! www.freecycle.com is the greatest! Things there are FREE, use it all the time!

Im not familiar with Craigs list altho I have heard it mentioned.

Yep! Peters or Peckers ( I'm blushing) what ever you call them by. After Sabbath I'll check and see howmany seeds I have left. I also have some Japanese pepper seeds too. I love them chopped up and mixed with shoyu, sesame oil, and rice vinegar for a dip. Great on steak!!

Yano, Ima justa owndering, yehudith, hows about I just chop those babanas in to ringlets and put them fresh into a jar of italian seasoned dressing? Let them marinate? Would they keep? That woudl be good on beek sandwiches!

Yup, keep me posted on your Peter seed!.. Drop me a d-mail.

How cute :) Mine are a bit bigger. I prefer red peppers, but I think I'm going to have to pick them green, because the caterpillars are getting inside and eating them! I guess the wasps don't look for them in there.

Yesterday's harvest...

Clockwise from top: Orange Sun, Jackpot (that big one is 8" long), Jalapenos, Early Sunsation and Mandarin (red)...

Those are corn borers if they are inside. Eggs are laid under the stem thing. Not much you can do about them.

CountryGardens - one looked like a cut worm and the other one was green.

Charlotte, NC(Zone 7b)

Can you spot the green pepper hiding from those nastie caterpillars?

That's a pretty pepper you got there Honeybee...

Charlotte, NC(Zone 7b)

lockakelly - thanks ^_^ I'm thinking I should probably pick it green rather than wait for it to turn red, before some critter picks it for itself!

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

LOL - that might be a good idea. I always leave a few to turn color but want to make sure I get me some peppers too!
