On my Wish List for DG

Love the tabs on my DG homepage. In fact, I check the Marketplace often, even when I am not looking for anything specific. It is easily noticed on the tabs, I wondered why the Classified Ads section isn't on the tab next to it? They both sell things and I often just forget the Classified Ads even exist. I'd love to see it as a tab right next to Marketplace ;) Thanks for your consideration.

So maybe I am missing something here. There have been no comments relating to the subject. Is this something I can customize or something on my own tool bar and I just am not aware? I love the Classifieds, I just wish them to be more prominent, like the Marketplace, so it is more convenient for me to get there.

I think a Classifieds tab is a great idea!

Here's how you can do something yourself--there's an option called the "custom menu" that displays on your home page, and you can put (almost) anything you want in there, that way if there are features that you use all the time and want direct links to you can have those on your home page. Go to "my info", then "manage your preferences". In the navigation bar on the side of the page you'll see an option called "custom menu". Click on that, and you'll pull up a list of all the things you can put in the custom menu (classifieds is one of them). Once you enable it, then when you go back to your home page, it should show up in your custom menu box. If you don't see a custom box on your home page or if it's too far down the page and you have to scroll too far to find it, go back to my info & preferences and click on "customize home page" from the list of links. Then find Custom Menu in the list and make sure it's in a low # position in column 2 so it's closer to the top of your page.

Also I don't know if you do this already, but if you go to the Classifieds forum and click on "add this forum to your favorites", then it'll be one of the forums on your home page that you watch and anytime there's a new ad posted it'll show up in that list with a new message just like all your other forums do. That's how I keep track of whenever there's something new posted there. Unless you have a huge list of forums that you watch, this option is a bit simpler than what I described above and if all you want to do is know when there's a new ad so you can go look at it then this works great (and even if there's not a new ad, all you have to do is scroll down your list of favorite forums to find it)

Thanks for the tips ecrane. I have it in that box now as I saved it as a preference as you described in your first post. It helps, but those tools bars just jump out at me. Too bad there wasn't some way of customizing that. My eye is drawn there first and last. I do appreciate your help.

I'd love customizable tabs, too... I'd put one for Classifieds and another to go directly to the PlantFiles search page...

I did put PF in my custom box, but I wish it would go directly to the search page... I still have to click from my home page and then click again to get to "search for a plant." On the other hand, if I could go directly to the search, I'd miss latin word of the week & plant of the week!

The "custom menu" option is a nice one. :-)
