3rd Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop - #4
Betty he is just gorgeous!!! If I didn't have Norm I'd come steal him away in the dead of night!!!! I meant to tell you that I did paint the other set you sent and it came out great. Sean took his home last night - it is for his Mom and Dad and they were so pleased and proud of him. The whole family will be at their home on Thursday and he wanted to be able to "show off". It is so gratifying to his little chest puff out and see him stand a bit taller. I just can't stop saying thank you to you.
Here is my project.......Barb
Adorable, think I should have sent wood kits for the hubby as well..ahhh that's great..nothing like building a child's confidence... you'll see him shine on Thanksgiving..if you ever want some projects, I've dozens on the shelf, need to be finished or given..lol..
Greg just left..he did a few things on my 'Greg's to do list' last night and came back, surprise/surprise to finish the others...told me I'm not 18 anymore and to put my things away and do them another day...like I'd listen he says..lol
It's 4:00 our time..vacuumed my car..lordy it needed it badly..burning all the leftover wood in the pit, going to give a quick vacuum and sweep here in the house, maybe a light dusting then bath, p.j.'s and call it a weekend...of course I might sit quietly and do more crochet blocks that I need for Darlene's Christmas quilt afghan...
Too bad there isn't a switch to turn me off, once my adrenaline kicks in it's hard to stop...
So needly piled is 16 kits for next Sunday..please/please no blizzard..every year we do it, it's blizzard time..hard to believe it could be possible but it sure could...
Mom just called, she's been in bed with cold/flu since Monday...talked to Bernie (brother)'s wife Charlene, she said Bernie hasn't been around because they think he had a small stroke last week..didn't want to tell me...so there goes what peace of mind I had today...
Sure hope you are all enjoying your day!
Betty please tell Bernie that he is on my prayer list along with your Mom. I think of Charlene and him quite often since they were here in NH. Please tell what the lamp project is or did I miss something somewhere?
Norm is busy building quilt ladders!!!! He built a couple for me and now all my friends want one. He is also making them for a small quilt shop nearby.
Wish I lived closer..could team up with Norm and we could build me one..lol..I've seen them, they are absolutely gorgous..very country looking and that's me..
Barb, the lamps are actually mason jar lanters..I've a housefull of girls coming next Sat./Sunday..on Saturday they are doing completely different projects than the Sunday friends from painting...had a photo of my deck piece and all wanted to do it...all but the sides of the lanterns and the wire is done..my Wednesday night class want to do the wooden Christmas trees so I've 4 of them to cut out before Wednesday night..they are market, I just have to get ambitious...
Here's a close up of the lantern.....
I remember when you got this. I didn't realize you were going to make them!!!! Were you able to find a place that sells the squirrels?
Norm makes very simple ladders but that's what I like. I'll try to get him to write out the directions for you.
I'd appreciate it Barb...no didn't get squirrels but found some other adorable pieces to set in...
Tonight I'll try and get all the lanterns rounded side pieces done..it will take time ... then, all I have to do is sit, wait for Sunday and enjoy my day with everyone..well almost, said I'd make my spaghetti for lunch..lol...best I not burn it right?
Barb what a neat project coming right along!
Betty Prayers are being sent to your brother, good grief he needs to be telling you what's going on.
Busy week ahead, yay a 3 day week though! Woo Hoo!
Morning, was hoping some of you would have gotten parcels today?
Betty I would like to get started on my two snowmen ( #7 )so please would you just give me the basics to start - is the main body just primed and painted in white? At least I can get that done and then wait for the rest when you set up the day or use my imagination of course!
No need to use your imagination...let me see...I'll go find photo and make the threads as promised and whoever has time to start can...one sec please...
Here's what I thought we would do for those who are finding time on their hands to do their projects now...
I started a thread on each of the projects offered to you and will give you the prep work until you tell me you are ready to proceed..
It is difficult because with each of you you've only certain times to participate...so perhaps this will be easier for you...
Will also make a thread for " 3rd Annual DG Christmas craft workshop - PHOTO'S " where everyone can put their finished piece on so we can ohhh and ahhhh... ahhh had said photo's only but we want to gab don't we, so feel free to...
Is that ok?

Trisha, your envelope came today..tks sweetie...
Oh good, sorry it took so long.
That's ok Trisha..sure made it easier being cash..you know the other day and it's the first time I've ever encountered it, brought my sketches to have put on watercolor paper so I can give originals to Jeff and the other set to his ex-wife..well I had USA dollars, guy says, no, we don't take USA dollars..I was totally insulted..imagine that...
After I said something he said, 'go try and cash Canadian dollars in USA..- guess he had a point...lol.. almost walked out but had my interact card so paid him that way..
My coffee break has lasted too long..must run...lol
Normally I wouldn't but as many trips as you have been making across I didn't think it would be a problem....next time let us know if would prefer checks or MO.
Yea I've found ya'll again. The boy came out and got some bugs off my computer and then decided I needed to be modernized again. Just now half way finding everything again. Betty did my envelope make it? I know I worry to much but if it hasn't let me now Please, even if your not sure and I'll send some more money any way you need it sent. I have all my paints for my snow man and cardnial. Haven't gotten the other one yet, but this one will keep me busy plus making all the card. Thanks for all you do Susan
Think I posted on another thread Susan, yes it did arrive...tks.much appreciated...
Thank You I was on the thread reading how to continue with my snow man. Thank You again. Susan
Betty just wanted to let you know that the other package arrived today!!!
I'm late for spin class so will try to pop in later!
Good Morning!
Oh Betty, i like how you've set up a page for each instructions...
Gosh, you are one organized lady.
So on the stain, it's only going on the back side and not the front, correct?
And on your photo's do i see real greenery?
OH Barb, how sweet! Sean should be proud! What a great day.
Here is what going on in my workshop, at the moment.
DD #1 wanted to learn how to make a key chain... So lesson 1 the underwrap.
Most important part and takes a little while.
In this pic. that denim piece get rolled and sewn on first...to give it a thickness.
Then the first row of beads get sewn on to the top
.
and then from there..it goes bead by bead.
Julia is playing around with a pattern, but because it's her first she is just staying basic.
LOL, she isn't finished with it yet, but is further then this picture here.
See how nice and tight? Mine wasn't, so I'm actually going to make another one
and trade it for the hurried one. lolol.
Besides that I am working on more cards, and some other craft pieces.
Oh my gosh, Was working on a Dreamcatcher and my willow branch snapped!! i was a third of the way done...
OH Man, so upsetting, so got to start all over, sigh.
Judy, looks like my house isn't the only 'santa elf' helpers workshop...lol...
Judy your working along with family is what makes memories..long remembered..so many I have of my grandmother and I sewing, crafting etc.
What I do Judy is the backside, the sides of the front where I cross cut ...so that the back is finished...the sides, when sanded shows some of the brown and some of the wood (depends how hard you sand)...as for the greenery, I made a little box, attached my snowman/penguin to it and did a floral arrangement..all the ones I send out can either just sit against a wall or a hole drilled on each side of the snowman and hung..just whatever you want to do with it..lordy, had I attached a floral box I'd have had to mortgage the house just to ship..lol
OK, stopped for wood last night for the lanterns, got home and everything on my 'to do' list that Bernie was doing got done..thank goodness for brothers...I cleaned what was left of the dust from trim..
Then, I knew I was just toooo tired to cut wood, tired and band saw just doesn't mix..I'm smart enough to know that..lol...I'm an early morning person..nothing for me to get up at 4am and start my day...
Having that in mind it was now 7pm, had my bath, p.j.'s on, got my bingo cards ready for 8pm games, wanted to win that jackpot...ok..getting comfy on the couch waiting 8am to roll around...not good, just knew I was going to fall asleep so picked up a crossword puzzle, that would keep me awake, even put timer on the microwave just incase..all bases covered...
Must have stopped just a few seconds too long thinking of a crossword 'word' and woke up to #4 of 5 games...drats..oh well..no $$$ for me...
Alarm went off at 4am..I was alert and ready to take on the day...got the sides to the lanters cut..only thing that remains is to router a channel for the light cord to sit in (will get that done Friday night)...
Girls wanted to do those 4' wood Christmas trees that have 35 lights on them, grapevine and decorations, so got 3 of them cut out with bases, then from the trees there were the off-cuts, looked at it and knowing that Rita may bring her 4 year old grandaughter tonight thought I'd cut a little base, a snowman and glue the 2 sides that were cut off the tree so she can join the class...just incase her other grandaughter came I cut out 2 sets of wooden candles and wicks...ok..staining them tonight would put the girls 1 week behind as it takes time to dry...so I helped them out and stained everything...that's what santa's elves do, help each other get the gifts done...lol
So much got done and here I sit, nothing to do...left about 10 projects in bags out in the car so I'll go pick something...still have blocks to make for Darlene's quilt look crochet afghan...that's light and easy to put down..
Do this every year, think of the $$$ spent on going then think I could get new counter top, new over the top zinc/tap and lights for washroom, new light fixture for kitchen and ceramic tile both the washroom and kitchen floor...so it truly is a hard decision to make..one the money is gone and the other I enjoy all year round...
Now what would you do? lol

SOooo much work Judy, a native woman years ago taught me how to make mocassins...boy were my fingers sore..even with the arrow needle it took it's tole...
I still do some work with hyde...make those snowmobile dickies that have the hide in front..regardless of the temps, the outdoorsman stay nice and warm, can even open their jackets and not get cold...
Judy, remember how upset I was last year, made something for 2 nieces and didn't even get a thank you..
Well as I unpacked the other day my Christmas goodies, there were 3 blocks, already drilled just needing a home...told both girls this morning, providing they don't GIVE my gift away, I'd get one made and give it to them this week....
Let's see what happens...

Wow Judy you go girl!
Betty you crack me up, lol "I'm out of crafts so I'll just go to my car and pick another one to start on." Wish I was like that! I'm such a computer hound all I can do is think about putting watered down brown paint on my snowman to start it off but actually sit and play Farm Town, Farmville, Fishville, Fish World, and Fish something else. Good Grief.
OMG My boss played the best joke on everyone today and guess who didn't think it was funny and got all angry about it...
Oh Betty, I almost forgot about that!!
Geesh, i hope that one neice keeps the Block!!
So funny, while i was on driving escapade, Was thinking about the blocks, Maybe i will get brave and make one this year.
LOL, I bought a Tomato stand, was thinking about the snow man on that too...LOL, so many projects, mind is all in a swirl of creations.
Plus, i have the muslin to make it with too, just got to put a few mins, hahaha, a few mins! to put it together.
Wow, i hope they enjoy the project! Will look forward to seeing the workshop and completed projects, always feel like I right there.
Oh yeah, Yep..The Dickies are the best for outdoor...
Also, speaking of memories, want to share...Julia is now 19.5, how funny that she should ask me to teach her how to bead...
The really cool thing is, i was the same age to learn how to bead and it was my mom who taught me!! Yep, i remember sitting at the kitchen table long into the night, visiting and beading, lol and how ironic, it is me to hand her the needle and ask her to thread, mumma always had us kids Threading needles...We used to keep about 10 needles pre threaded for her, oop, hehehe, think i will ask her to thread up a bunch for me...
And how cool, When the Beads come out...Jacob jumps right in and cooks finger foods to munch, reminds me to eat, he is just so cute.
The other day i was Beading a stocking and He decided to make me breakfast!! No mix so he made them from scratch.
Chef boy R Jake.
Crissy, I can imagine who...yep, tell yourself no computer..that for each hours of finishing your projects you can sit at the computer...oh girl, you should see my vehicle..cleaned it up on Sunday but there is oasis in about 4 bags, forgot to take it out last night, bag of crochet, 3 bags for Christmas cards, bag with paints/brushes for a wood sock (must get that done, it's just too cute not to' bag with my sketch materials, bag with odds/sods ..lol..so lot's to choose from...did you give your boss the cel phone cover?
The cleanest my house gets is when I say, 'o.k. Betty, everytime there is a comercial on, you work for that duration of time' omg do you know how much idle time is spent listening to them? At least that way it doesn't feel as though cleaning is all you do...
Judy, your house is always sooo much fun...my Jacob has grown..no longer a little boy but a man..no more babies girl..well for now, just think won't be that many more years there will be grandbabies around... tape my mouth shut right?
No Betty I haven't. I'm waiting for our Christmas party, I'll give it to him on that day! LOL
My other boss is the one who played the joke. I'll tell ya'll about it...
We have the National Association of Prosecuting Attorney's conference coming up the second week of December and newsletters had to be sent out today. He came in and marked the guy who prints them out as sick. Everybody freaked out, I'm not involved so I didn't really think anything about it. While me and him were at the coffee pot I asked one of the gals, "Isn't it on your computer too?" She said, "Yea." I said, "So you can print it?" She said, "Yea." Boss asked what the big deal was then, obviously there isn't one, they were still all freaking out and he then said he was joking and the other guy would be in in a little while. Someone special got mad and yelled that she is having a hormonal day and it's not a good day for joking around. Whatever!!
I need to tell myself "no computer!!" Seems I do every night, but I don't listen to myself.
Get those unfinished projects out Crissy...lol...
That time of night..Rita brought her 3 year old grandaughter tonight..I had a craft ready for her..absolutely adorable, kept calling me 'Miss Betty'
She said because I cut the wood she would leave it for me as a gift, sweet thought, told her no, take it home...before she left she had named at least 5 people she was going to give it to..lol..
Linda Kay got an envelope from you today..will d-mail you in the a.m.
Betty, when I got home today, your package was between the doors! Thank you! Only the tip of one of the stars was broken, and I'll glue that! Can't wait to start!
Betty, you are soo busy I hate to bother you.The thread for finished projects is an edit thing, cant post a pic,or am I just not finding it??? He is all done and I wanted to show him off !!!
No, by clicking on 'browse' the photo's come up, you should be able to click on your 'masterpiece' photo and press send ..voila we should all be able to see it..
If not, let me know, you can e-mail it to me, I'll copy and put it on this thread so we can enjoy!
