Becky,
Those were the seed counts per pack. I have 18 packs of seeds of both Heavenly Blue and Crimson Rambler and many more of the Sunrise Serenade. That is the one vine I have growing now and it has been a prolific seeder.

Group Seed Swap Part #2
Charleen - Let me know what your count is. :-) I think you will probably be okay.
Sissy - You could purchase a few packets of seeds for the swap. But I understand if you choose to wait until next year.
Diana - I added your name as number 12! :-)
Dee - You've got a nice selection and it sounds like enough for each person to get one of each of your different packets. :-) Great!!!
I am thinking we should close this at 15 participants. I can see that some folks are finding it difficult to come up with enough seeds for any more participants than that. :-)
I have two different kinds.
I have mixed colors MG.
I have little orange MG
will that be enough?
I believe I can get 15 pkg.
out of each.
That's fine, Charleen.
Is your mixed seeds ... Ipomoea purpureas? If so, please mark the packets as such. It is very helpful for folks to know what species is in each pack they receive so they can plant accordingly.
You are new to MGs and I don't expect newbies to have a lot of seeds this year. But next year when you grow out many of the seeds you will receive in this swap ... you will be amazed at all the seeds you will have for next year's trades! :-)
I saw one I want.MG Sunrise Serenade. Oh, it is so pretty.
Is that a Hingefeather?? I looked it up under Morning Glory.
So i have to change my Labels. O.K.
I had Mixed color. Let me re-do them, gotta be right.
Thanks.
i sure would have like to join you but maybe next year if im still around lol
thank you becky hey becky can they all be the same i have 15 pkgs of the milky way
1 pomoca purpurea or do they have to be different

Charleen - Sunrise Serenade is a hige/feathers I. purpurea. They usually do quite well and produce lots of seeds! :-) I have a purple hige (Indigo Feathers) I can share, too! And Gypsy Bride is also a hige - a white one that is really attractive! The higes/feathers vines can produce both full round shaped and hige blooms on a vine. http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/t/beckygardener/7581/
Sissy - If you change your mind, jump on here before we reach the 15 participant limit. :-)
Diana just sent me a dmail question and I thought it was a good one, so am copying her dmail and my reply:
Wantabegardener - If I do not have 75 of Gypsy Bride..say I have 50...do I just send some other MG seeds to make up the rest..?...some seem to be sending...75..of each kind..???...sorry for being so dumb...thanks ahead...smiles..Diana..
My reply - Diana - If you do not have 75 seeds of any given cultivar (which would equal 15 packs of seeds with 5 seeds in each packet), you could make 15 packets with 3 seeds in each packet. There is no set rule that says you have to send 5 of each seed. We usually do 5 on the MG Forum because it gives you a few extra over 3 seeds in case the first grow-out dies or is destroyed by unforeseen events (weather, pests, dogs or children digging them up, etc.). But 3 is okay if you have a limited number of seeds. I wouldn't send any less than 3 seeds per pack though. 3 or more is a good trade amount. :-)
No question is dumb. So if anyone has questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

That is the one I would like to try. They are beautiful.
I got my little cards made with no problem, So all
I have to do is Stuff the Envelopes.
Thanks,
Charleen
I just added Evr (Eliz) to the list of participants because she has already sent me some seeds for the swap. I sure hope I haven't forgotten anyone else. I really want to keep this swap to 15 participants if at all possible. We are currently at 14!
I also want to mention that Karen (gardener2005) sent some of her BEAUTIFUL Purple/Blue Blizzard and solid bloom seeds. She added a mix in each pack. Y'all will love the blooms and foliage on these!
She is not in the seed swap, but wanted to donate 15 packs to participants. :-) A few other folks have also mentioned donating some seed packs to this swap. :-) You will find that the majority of MG growers are very generous! :-)
yes if the one kind is enough please
Sissy - You are joining the swap? Yes?
yes if i can use only one kind
Sissy - Can you make up 15 packs of 3-5 seeds per pack?
yes i can do 6 seed per 15 packs
Sissy - Cool! You are the last one in! :-)
thank you becky
Folks - We have 15 participants unless anyone on the current list drops out. If any others post that they want to join, they will be on the waiting list as I am not sure about Elsa. I know Judith and Phyliis expressed a desire to join a month or so ago, but have not heard from either of them lately. I am adding both of their names to the list as possibles. And I just realized that everyone would get packs of their own, so 16 participants would work. :-)

Since we have two waiting May I add two more for them?
That would be 18 pkg.
Charleen
I am in if you still want someone. This thread moves so fast I can't keep up. I think I had mentioned in the last thread but then we had so much rain and my seeds were germinating right on the vine. But I just collected TONS of seeds the other day and many more to come. It rained again last 2 days so I have to wait for them to dry.... so wet here....
And I can wait if you have too many already.
LiliMerci - I've added you as number 18. I am okay with adding 3 more if necessary as I have enough seeds to do so, but I am not sure about everyone else.
If participants can make up 18 packs total per cultivar, then go ahead and do so.
Get your seed packs and your mailing supplies ready. I am not going to be accepting envies until December because I have too much stuff going on right now and don't want to misplace any of them. I will post on this thread when to start sending them. :-)
Thanks Becky.
Rising hand here I can...I will make up 18.....Soooo fun...
smiles..Diana...
Thanks, Diana! :-)
I don't know for sure if we will need 18 packets of each cultivar yet.
no problem...but they are ready....lol smiles..Diana..
sorry...i've MIA for boring reasons, but I did want to be in the swap, it'll just take me a bit to get up to speed.
to be clear, my JMG seeds I saved/grew are mixed, NOIDS i guess you call them on here, but were originally from Becky. can I still play or do I have to have 'named' seeds?
i have family (6) coming home for thanksgiving so it'll be a busy week ...baking to do this weekend, but i'll try to check back in pdq.
Phyllis - No problem. I believe what I sent you are I. nils? Just put JMG mixed I. nil seeds on your baggies as part of the label. Here is what I am putting on my labels:
Example:
Hanafubuki
I. nil
beckygardener
Fall 2009
That will tell everyone who gets them what the cultivar (Hanafubuki) is (if it is not a NOID), what species of MG it is (I. nil), who the seeds are from, and when they were collected from the vines.
I am bagging up 5 seeds of each cultivar (18 baggies total PER cultivar) to share with folks in the group seed swap here. And how many cultivars from me to each participant will probably be between 15-20 different cultivars. So each person will get at least 75 seeds from me! LOL! But I know that I am not the norm here. I just happen to have a lot of seeds to share! :-) And they will be a nice selection. Mostly I. nils (Japanese), one or two I. purpureas, and probably 3 Alamo Vine seeds, too. I am not sure what everyone else is sending. Though I do have a good idea from most.
PLEASE NOTE: I've decided that $5 will cover postage, delivery confirmation, and a little something extra that I wanted to include for each person! :-) SEND your 8' x 11" bubble envie to me on or after December 1st! Not before then, please!!! And send it to me using DELIVERY CONFIRMATION! (That is very important!!)
I, too, will be very busy until after Thanksgiving both at work and with family. Happy Thanksgiving to all those in the swap who celebrate this American holiday. :-)

so far I have about 7 kinds of 18 baggies made up, I am taking a break cuz I am dreaming about dried seed pod vines now, and I need my rest LOL
Debra - NO kidding! LOL!
I just recently finished collecting seeds from all my I. nil vines before they died. I still need to clean and dry the seeds. With Thanksgiving coming up, my counter space is limited, so will have do that chore after Thanksgiving Day. Boy! Oh boy! Do I ever wish I had a set-up like your basement! But alas ... I have to make due with what I have and space is very limited for plants/seeds/gardening supplies.
I am also in the process of "renewing ???" (what's the dang word???) the majority of my outdoor garden beds and that is going to take till Spring (March), so time is not on my side. I can still sling commercial top soil bags, bags of compost, and bags of peat into and out of my van. Thank goodness I'm not physically feeble yet. But it is a chore turning the ground with a pitch fork and shovel. The ground is like concrete it is so dry and hard. (sigh)
Some of my plants (perennials) didn't make it this year. The heat just did in anything not already established. So now I have the chore and expense of starting over. Nice to have an almost clean slate, but $$ wise ... it is not.
This seed swap should help get a lot of folks (new to MGs) on to a good start! Thanks for making up numerous bags of different cultivars for everyone! I know they will love the vines when they grow them in the Spring/Summer of 2010! And I look forward to seeing everyone's photos! I don't know what I enjoy most ... growing them myself or seeing the excitment of others growing them and photographing the blooms because they are so thrilled to share their flowers! :-)

Since my daughter is coming for Thanksgiving, I have been sorting seeds I collected this year and packing them away. I can actually see my dining room table now! but I don't think I'll have time to do much until after they leave.
Join the club, Phyllis! :-)
Becky, what kind of perennials were you wanting to replace your beds with?
My WS was a sucess and I have seeds I could share.
Phyllis - Oh! Thanks for the offer. It HAS to be seeds. I got a number of starter plants this past year right during the onset of summer and nearly all of them perished. I have figured out that if they don't grow here from seed, they won't survive. I'll take anything that is not considered highly invasive, that has blooms, and thrives (or at least tolerates) heat and drought. LOL! That should narrow it down. LOL! I am not particularly fond of cactus, either. LOL!

Participants - I have updated the first post. (Check the edit date.) Please skim over it. I will update in that first thread whenever necessary, so be sure to just check the edit date from time to time to make sure you don't miss anything. :-)

Sounds good, Sissy! :-) :-) :-)
Durn, walked down to mailbox and guess what. I think I have Tulip tree seeds falling
and I already sent in my package.
I'm guessing that is what it is.
Charleen
I have some little trees started, it will be a long time before I see any size I think LOL .. really wanted my graefruit, pear and apple trees to fruit out before I die.. and my baby pecan tree, *sigh* they take Years and years to grow up. spent most of last night cleaning off rebecca seeds from the bag of vines I had sitting around drying. will get those bagged up as soon as I get more baggies from wally world.
A pecan tree is about 7 yrs. old when it has seeds, I read that somewhere.
Fruit trees, apple and pear, you shouldn't have to wait that long, do you?
I don't know how old the nursery grown trees are.
RRM
I just like starting things from seeds,, prolly will give the trees away to someone who has the need for a tree..I have an old pear tree, she still produces for me.
