Box is ready to go. I'm waiting to hear from Stovall_Gardens. I sent her an email to see if she's ready to accept box. I'm waiting for a reply. She hasn't posted recently. Should I skip her and send to zozzl?
Eileen - I've been talking to Laura (Stovall_Gardens) via email. She is having computer problems, due to some trojans/viruses downloaded by her son. Go ahead and send it to her. She's ready for it!

^_^
Great. I didn't want to leave her out of it. Box is ready to go, first thing in the morning. It's been good for me to take my mind off family for a short time.
Eileen, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You are in my prayers.
Pat, hope you are safe and well.
Hi all!! This was fun!! The box is on the way to Zozzi in Fl. I had very few violets, but have chosen some neat things to send along anyways! Hope someone will like them, Thanks for letting me in on this!!
Laura
I am so excited Laura! Do you have a tracking number so I can look out for it and make sure I am home?
It couldn't come at a better time as my plants needing grooming so badly and I have started too many babies:)
Pat M.
Laura,
What did you keep? I love looking up all the plants.
Sharon
Hi All,
The box arrived here in Orlando a short time ago! They are a bunch of leaves in there and most looked good but some did not make it. The smaller leaves did not fair too well.
Didn't make it:
AV leaves
Bishop
Sailor Bill
Twist and Shout
Optimara with purple edge
Colorbook Trail
Litte Cheynee Girl.
Strep? Niagra Michelle, leaf
Here is what I am keeping:
Leaf: AV Hot Pink Bells
Piece of unidentified mottled green leaves/stem growing side by side and up?
Piece of something that said "lavender strep but the leaves look more like a Kholeria?
Piece of something that said Episcia suomi but it did not look like it. It is a light green long stem with leaves and has vines type tendrils coming out at the tops?
Piece of Als Pals strep leaf
Piece of crimson blaze strep.
Plant of Ness Krinkle Blue
Plant of Kit Kat Begonia.
There were multiples of all of the above so those are still in there. I have a ton of leaves to add and many plants. It is on its way to lilypad in Georgia tomorrow.
If anyone can shed some light on the unidentified ones I kept that would be great!
Thanks for letting me participate:) Pat
Pat, none of your mystery ones came from me, nor I don't remember them being in box. They may be something from Laura-Stoval Gardens. I'm sure someone will identify them.
Eileen
Okay, it is packed and ready to go. It is busting! I got a little carried away putting plants in there so I wasn't able to put as many leaves in as I ran out of room:)
Oh, I also took the handmade soap and can't wait to try that!
I did figure out which was the Episcia but still don't know what the light green tall growing with the tendrils coming out of the top is? I love a good mystery though!
Have Fun with it!!!
Pat M.
I'm not sure what your plant is,but some Seemanias grow like that,as well as some other Gessies that form tubers.Sometimes they form seeds or tubers on the tendrils as well as in the soil.
Maybe who gets the box next can take a picture of the tendril plant? A nice mystery to solve . . . ^_^
Lots of times the tendrils are the flower stalks coming out and will turn into buds and flowers on the end. A pic would be great to see. Its hard to imagine something with tendrils...how neat!
Round Robin-ing is getting very exciting as it gets so close to my turn!!! ha.
tish
I think your first picture is a streptocarpella. It has either bloomed or is going to bloom. I have some and enjoy them. If I'm correct and it is a streptocarpella, they make a nice hanging basket. I have some with a purple bloom and some with a white bloom.
tish
Tish,
I think you are right! It said strep on the label but it didn't occur to me strepocarpella. They were also some spent lavender blooms in the bottom of the package that looked like that. DUH! I am so slow.....
Thanks,
Pat M.
Hi all, sorry for the confusion....been out getting plants inside and have been offline. Ok, yes the one is a strep...not sure which, though it has pretty lavender blooms, the episcia is a suomi, it is labeled and was a gift purchased for me from Logees. I have seen the bloom on it, it is orange if I am not mistaken. The bottom pic you showed above Pat I am not sure what exactly it is, I think the name watermelon is in there though...sorry. I did not have a lot of things violet wise, so I just gathered up some.
I wanted to share a little something someone told me...you can make violet pots as many of you know out of 2 liter coke bottles...well I have, and they work, but are ugly. So I got some mod podge, glued all sorts of flowers on the bottle and sealed it...looks great! Though very time consuming.
Laura
Laura, that sounds like an interesting project. Could you posta picture of one you made. I've been using yogurt cups for the next step up from the 3oz solo cups. They are not attractive, and I guess i will spray paint them. I tried to use a brush with 'apple barrel paint' from Michaels arts and crafts, but they are dull. I would like them to be more shiny. It's a good project for a rainy day. :D
Eileen, I spray paint the yogurt cups with Krylon Fusion spray paint for plastics. Works great. You can get it in Walmart in the hardware dept. Comes in all colors.
meag848, thanks. Just what I was looking for. I'm off to wallyworld on next Monday. I'll avoid all stores until then. I worked Black Friday for over 25 years, and avoid the day like the plague. I 'served my time' on that day, workin or shopping.
Thanks again for the info.
Pat,
At first glance your mottled leaved plant looks like a small growing Begonia, but due to the leaves growing opposite,I don't think so.It does look like a plant I have grown before.I need to put my thinkin' cap on !!
Laura,
Suomi has yellow flowers, which puts it among my favorites LOL.
Eileen,
I'm with you.I have worked so many Black Fridays in my life I'm not sure if I will ever go shopping on that day again!!
Lynn
I've been experimenting with my own oyama pots...trash to treasure sort of thing. Now that you mentioned the soda bottle, I can totally see trying that with the smaller bottles, maybe waterbottles. If my experiments are sucessful at all, I will post about how I made them and what worked and what didn't. That will be a little later, Dec or Jan. I was using the older yoguart cups but Jan let me know that they are all 6 oz now and the ones I've been using are 8 oz...no longer available. So I'll have to see.
Oh and those dull paint colors will brighten up with a coat of the waterbase varnish ...just keep looking where the bottles of paint are, there is satin, gloss, high gloss, etc..all clear. And I love how it cleans up with soap and water! I did some with the decal stickers and such too...it was fun. I'm not artistic enough for them to be fab, but they were fun to make.
Happy holiday! tish
mrsbonnie, thanks for the idea of mod podge. That is one pretty cup.
lillypad, if you have an Aldi grocery near you, their yogurt comes in 8 oz cups. They are only 37 cents here and are delicious. My hubby prefers them over all other brands.
I am posting the tracking number for the round robin. Has it arrived in Georgia yet? It made it on the truck for delivery in Georgia on the 27th but I don't see that it was updated.
Where the heck is it!!

Pat,
I hate to tell you this, but it could be stuck at one of the main hubs or be at the post office in Georgia. The person receiving the box should probably check with the station that delivers their mail just in case.
I work in retail and strange things can happen with packages this time of year.I hope for all of you that it was delivered today!!
The only other thing I can suggest is for you to call the main post office in Orlando. They can usually find out exactly where a package is.I hope this helps.
Lynn
It was listed as on the truck for delivery on Nov. 27 at 9 am. It should have been delivered.
Hope she got it.
Pat M.
I saw that Pat.If the post office updates their site it should tell you exactly when it was delivered. They usually update every night sfter 6 PM here, but fall a little behind sometimes.
Nothing yet. I was home when the mailman came by and no box, just bills and ads. Those tracking number info.....whenever I have checked it for ebay and amazon stuff, they are never right. Hope for tomorrow...we knew this time of year was going to be slower.

Hi ladies. I hope you don't mind me butting in with links for zozzl/Pat for her two noid plants. The first one is definitely Streptocarpella saxorum: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2114/
and the second looks to be Pellionia (commonly called Watermelon Begonia. It's not actually a begonia but must have gotten the name because the foliage does look like watermelon rind): http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/168484/ I received a cutting of this plant a couple of years ago in a trade here on DG and it has grown and now fills a hanging basket.
I was out of town for a couple of weeks and didn't have internet access while I was away, so haven't been able to "lurk" on DG for awhile. I still haven't gotten around to moving a plant stand back into the house to set up lights for AV's but keep thinking I might do it and get a couple of AV's to grow again. I so enjoy seeing the photo's of everyone's lovely plants!
Well, I'm going to lurk around the garden a bit. I hope everyone is staying well and that you all had a Blessed Thanksgiving.
Lin
Hey Lin,
I think you are exactly right! That's great:) They look exactly like that. I think the pellionia is pellionia pulcra and the streptocarpella looks exactly like that. Yippee!
Welcome back and thank you so much!
Pat M.
Tish - if the box doesn't get delivered today, maybe you could call (or visit) your local post office to see if it is sitting on a shelf somewhere? Meanwhile, maybe Pat could call the post office and find out more info on her end?
Syrumani and Tish:
I called the Post Office and they are going to research it. There is nothing else I can do down here. I would go to the post office in Riverdale and take the confirmation number (above). When I called they confirmed that the package is in Riverdale (or was). They said they would get back to me within 2 business days but obviously the state of the plants is really suffering right about now.
Also, they gave me a research confirmation number of CA100605688 and I would take that with you also. If it is a small post office it could have gotten kicked under something and be just sitting there.
Good Luck!
Pat
Pat:
You are very welcome ... they are both great plants, I have both that came from trades here on DG. I really love the little purple blooms on Streptocarpella. My sister in North Georgia always buys huge hanging baskets from her favorite nursery and they bloom beautifully for her in direct sun where she lives. I've never seen Streptocarpella for sale around here, and often wonder why the nurseries and garden centers don't carry it. I actually received cuttings in two house plant trades and rooted them, cut it back and ended up with a nice full basket. I still have the hanging basket but it looks a bit ratty right now. It was in full sun and the foliage got really washed out. I need to root some more cuttings for next year.
Bonnie:
I love that little yogurt cup covered in fabric! What a great idea, I've got to try that! I have some Mod Podge stuff around here somewhere and I remember seeing it recently ... hope I didn't throw it out, but if I did I will definitely buy more, I just love the looks of that little cup and I love recycling. I've seen pic's in the past of your painted cups and they are so cute, covering them in pretty fabric is a great idea ... I might have to do a couple for Christmas gifts!
Hey Lin!
Glad you are back! I will be more than happy to send you some a.v. leaves this spring. Are you leaning more toward standard, semis, all of the above...LOL I am still trying to figure out the name of the hoya you have that smells like carmel or something like that. I went to 2 nurseries where my daughter lives and they had NOID hoyas...didn't buy them. They had 5 a.v.s that looked really bad and were NOIDs also. Really surprised with them being nurseries.
Connie
Got it !!!!!!!!!!!
