Wow You are going to be busy. The poppies are beautiful. Are you making an herb garden? Lots of interesting things on your list. What are your plans for them? I would be interest how the NJ Tea does for you. I'm afraid I don't have patience for doing a lot of seeds. I do admire people who do however, more satisfaction in growing a plant from start to finish.
Thank you : ) Yes I am going to try out an herb garden. Although they may just end up being planted at random in my veggie garden. I've been wanting to try the New Jersey Tea for some time and never get around to buying plants. They keep getting bumped for other stuff. So I figure if I can get them from seed it's only costing me the pack of seed. : )
I usually always order way more seeds than I have time to start. Plus I have to go through my drawer full in the fridge, some of them are things I never got to last year.
I want to make a new large garden for my dd'd with a sunflower fort and zinnias which they love to pick. And other things that they like to pick. They will entertain themselves picking flowers for hours every day in summer if I let them. Sometimes I have to make them stop, so we can have some flowers in the garden still. lol : )
mortgage lifter t-seeds - what will they be naming them next? Are they beefsteak like t's?
Oh and I forgot to say, I tried picking lots of annuals that are claimed to reseed. I want to fill in gaps with them. Here is an article taht inspired me http://dianeseeds.com/flowers/self-sowing-annuals.html
I am just making my final decisions and I'll be placing an order there too. : )
Sorry, I didn't preview. The Mortgage Lifter and the NH Surecrop are Heirloom seeds. I think the viva Italian might be as well.
heirloom seeds? must be from the great depression
Yup Right on! I'm gonna find a link.
http://www.territorialseed.com/product/3895/heirloom_tomato_seed they remind me of the tomatoes at the supermarket called Ugly Ripe Tomatoes. : )
yup back at ya - they are ugly:)
Bankruptcy looks nicer. ^_^
Ha ha ha : )
I checked and the Viva Italia isn't heirloom.
Mafia?
Nice list on your link. I have a few of those that do reseed around. The only problem I have is not pulling them up as weeds. Most I can recognize okay but you know when you get in that weeding grove the hand sometimes plucks faster than my brain can say noooooo. If you get even half of your seeds to grow it will be a mighty fine garden to walk through and smell the pretty blooms and herbs. The sunflower fort will be a big hit I'm sure.
Perhaps Victor ; ) I picked that one because it said resistant to bacterial spot. The others are supposed to very disease resistant too. I haven't grown a really good crop of tomatoes yet (in my life) I started tryiong in 06, I always have problems with disease. Actually one time in about 03 - when I had no land to garden on, I grew some in containers. The Romas were the only ones that produced anything. This was partly due to my long work hours and not watering them enough.
Ngam I am the same way when I am weeding. I am going to try and change my ways though. : ) Thanks so much for thr encouraging words. I did forget to mention that I was trying to pick ones that were fragrant. You must have recognized those ones. : )
Hope the maters are better next year. Past year was a bust.
Thanks I hope the same for you if you try them. : )
I finalized my Dian'e Seeds order. Here's what I got...
Aethionema schistosum (Fragrant Persian Stonecress) http://www.dianeseeds.com/aethionema-persian-stonecress.html
Allium rosenbachianum http://www.dianeseeds.com/allium-rosenbachianum.html
Dianthus arenarius (Sand Pink) http://www.dianeseeds.com/dianthus-arenarius.html
Tomato 'Brown Berry' http://www.dianeseeds.com/tomato-brown-berry.html
Antirrhinum majus 'Choice O.P. Mix' (Snapdragon) http://www.dianeseeds.com/antirrhinum-majus.html
Zinnia elegans 'Lilliput Mix' http://www.dianeseeds.com/zinnia-lilliput.html
Cosmos bipinnatus 'Sonata White' http://www.dianeseeds.com/cosmos-sonata-white.html
Cilantro 'Delfino' http://www.dianeseeds.com/cilantro.html
Antirrhinum braun-blanquetii (Perennial Snapdragon) http://www.dianeseeds.com/antirrhinum-braun-blanquetii.html
Aquilegia alpina (Alpine Columbine) http://www.dianeseeds.com/aquilegia-alpina.html
Now I will say I am done but will probably succumb to ordering something else during the seed starting crunch. I always find something that I can't believe I didn't order at the last minute. : )

I grew Lilliput Zinnias a few years ago.. they were very nice
I have a huge wishlist at Bluestone:
Astilbe dwarf Graffland
Geum Totally Tangerine
Sedum Ogon
Sempervivum Ali
Local Nursery: Astilbe Strassenfelder
SEEDS:
Nastuerteums
Cosmos
Zinnia
Tomato Brandiwine
I grew some Liliput before too, and I saved seeds from them. I made sure to label each flower as to what color it was as it faded and saved and started them seperately labeled. They came up very pretty and almost just like the parent plants. I've heard people say they only like commercia lzinnia seeds but I actualluy prefer ones that come true when open pollinated. The only reason I am buying them this year is because I had way too big of plans for last season and ended up not starting the Zinnias until late June. So unfortunately I had lots of gorgeous flowers but they didn't make it to set seed. They seem to need quite a long season to set viable seeds.
I took a bunch of pictures of the ones from this past season.
Speaking of Zinnias - I am going to get a web album up of annuals over the next few days. I'll post a link when I'm done. : )
Ge, I have a couple things I'd like to order from Bluestone too. They usually send out a 15% off catalog so I'm going to wait until I get one. : )
Me too.
I was on their site this AM and noticed the spring cat.
I impulse like heck when the 50% off sale comes in mid May.
I started gardens here 2 years ago and filled with lots of hostas at half price.
I am not keeping track of the coin I have spent on this property.
I dont travel or go out much so I feel its justified.
We have lots of company all summer and the enjoyment for me and others is huge.
After thought question does anyone know if Dianes seeds takes a check?
I hate to use Pay-pal.

I think they would take a check if you mail in an order? Not sure, but if you want there should be a spot on the order page where you can click to pay by credit card. I think it's in small writing up in the left hand corner.
I douyble checked and there are credit card symbols on the checkout page, right above them it says checkout without paypal. You click on that and you can pay that way too. : )
THANK so much Merideth.
I never got that far
She has the Larkspur seeds I have to have.
SOME DG'ers pictures put me over the top to have larkspur in my DL's this summer and lordknows where else.
I added links to my list of seeds I got from Diane's - I like to do it for my diary, so when I'm starting seeds, I can look at the descriptions of them in case I've forgotten. : ) Figured some of you may not have the time to look each one up and you may want to check certain ones out. : )

Nice idea
Thanks : )

O I want one of those nail brushes. It winkles.
Wow those are great Victor, are you ordering your own stocking stuffers? : )
Good point Meredith. My Dad used to do that. Buy a whole bunch of stuff for himself right before Christmas.
Have them already!
I was thinking of putting my seeds in my stocking :)
Meredith in the morning I will look for the photo of my braun-blanquetii .. it bloomed beautifully for me... and came back the 2nd year
I'm off to Lee for some long handled garden stuff.
Are thise the sturdy perennial Snaps?
We have them everywhere here.
