I think cukes smell pretty good. Garter snakes have a very nasty smell when they feel threatened. I've picked up enough to know.

Sad news for me. Pork Chop was adopted. Good for him, though. I felt like crying when I heard that last night. Actually, I did cry a bit. I'm sure I'll find another good candidate eventually. Will just have to keep looking. I'm sure the local shelters get new dogs in all the time.

O that's too bad Cousin Nut but it is good that Pork Chop is going to a luving home. I adopted the crazy ole cat on a misprint. Salami, the cat I was supposed to adopt, was adopted by someone else because they put the wrong 'number' on my form. That's ok though cuz I saw the Dad and little girl who were adopting Salami and she was so excited and happy that I got over my sadness. Of course the down side was that I ended up with a crazy cat I spose.

Well, NuttyD....if anyone can decraze a crazy cat, I'd put my money on you!

Karen - I feel sad for you that Pork Chop went to another good home. I think you are looking at it the right way, but that doesn't help in the immediate disappointment, does it? As we've said before, if it is meant to be, it will happen, and some other lucky dog who might not have ended up as well as Pork Chop will find a loving home with you. I hope your sister comes around so that you will have a full green light!

Karen, Sorry you didn't get Porkchop but that just means there's a better dog out there for you.

Karen--so sorry you lost Porkchop--I know you had your heart set on him. I've heard when a door closes, a window opens....

Karen--Animals for Life had a Bassett mix up for adoption in our newspaper---they are on Petfinders, I believe. Another dog, who looked like my Suey, was resting her head on his back! And copperheads smell? Wow--I'll never put my face that close!

Wow! no posts here for awhile. I thought I'd be way behind, as it's been awhile for me. Just been so busy and not much time for posting. I guess everyone else has been just as busy as me.

Marilyn, I'm not looking for a dog to adopt now. My sister doesn't want me to get another one, and I think a shelter would have a problem if not everyone in the household is agreeable. Sometimes I feel like I have no life of my own.

So sorry Karen. Do you think things will change in the future?

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Don't know what the future holds. My crystal ball is broken, I'm afraid. LOL! Oh, well. At least I get to do pretty much what I want with the gardens here at Dad's house. Someday I'll have a place of my own.

Oh, if you and others could pray for my DS Wanda in TX, I would sure appreciate it. She is having so really bad financial hardships lately, partly over the fact that the builder who did her house never finished the work and took payment in advance for labor and materials. She's talking about maybe having to sell her place, and I'd hate to see her do that, as she has such a beautiful piece of property. She is letting her other place go into foreclosure, as she just can't afford to keep both places. There's more to it, but I won't get into it all. Anyhow, she could use all the prayers she can get. Thanks.

Sure will, Karen.

Sure. Good luck.

Hi Karen. Sorry to hear about Wanda's troubles. You can count on some prayers for her. And I have a feeling you haven't seen the end of your dog adoption possibilities. It will work out. I just feel it!

On the home front here....my brugs are blooming outside the sun room windows in the back yard........

{{{{Cousin Nut}}}} Thoughts and prayers going to your sis. I'm so sorry to hear about her troubles.

Thomaston, CT

So sorry to hear, Karen----she needs to take that guy to court!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, everyone. Marilyn, yeah, she needs to take him to court for sure, and she's working on that. Problem is she may not get anything. He has no money and is facing foreclosure on his own home. Wanda is getting some mold problems now because of the fact that the siding on the house was never finished. She's been having it inspected to find out if it's the dangerous kind of black mold or not. She will be including the cost of having that problem dealt with along with everything he owes her. I'm sure hoping she can get enough compensation to get the house finished. I know she'll never, ever pay a builder up front again. That was a hard lesson for her to learn.

Keeping your sis in my prayers. Paints all contractors in a bad light when one idiot can't do it right.

Thanks, Jen. So true!
