Charleen, is that the first one you have planted? It will be fun watching it grow.
The Sangs are very different from the rest. Was that fellow very far from you? Must not be if you are members of he same community. So, it didn't have a big change in climate. It is nice to have someone nearby interested in the same things.

One of the girls on the brugs forum gave it to me. I looked at my Almanac and when sign was right I planted it. I couldn't believe when I saw it. I have them in 2 litr btls. I guess it was perfect little grn hse for it.
Thank you , I will let you know how it is doing. I hope it makes it.
Charleen Thanks you all for the encouragement.
Congratulations, Charlene. Except for B arborea, Brugs don't come from seed. I just got my Thompson and Morgan seed catalog and was disappointed that they are selling two crosses as if they will come true to the photo. They don't! The other cross claims to be Frosty Pink.

This is a cross as well, but since most seedling bloom white anyway, they won't do as much damage.

Betty, I do believe the Sangs grow true to the parent.

Jeanette, That's one thing I haven't been able to find information on and have no personal experience with, but there is a great variety of bloom color within the orange/red range. Somewhere here on the forum there is a post on this very subject, but I haven't been able to find it. My one reliable source, Preissel and Preissel, doesn't say whether sangs are self pollinated other than to say they are pollinated by hummingbirds, but they state that there are sanguinea varieties. According to them most of the sangs grown in captivity are hybrids that look like the wild species.
