Pink Smitty
Wow. I love the color of your Pink Smitty. It is beautiful!!!
Janice
You know, that is the color I have on one of mine I lost the label from and it must be Pink Smitty, got it from JT. It is a double. I had to put it in the basement with a lot of buds on it because it was freezing out, and it started blooming. Jeanette
That is a Beautiful color bloom.
Do you have to take yours in in the winter?
I have broght some of mine in, but next year
I'm going to try to make myself to leave them out.
I have several cuttings under my desk now.
Charleen
Charleen, doubt if you are talking to me, but if so, yes, I have mine go dormant in the winter.
Jeanette
Charleen, Living in Central Florida we normally have
one or two nights of freezing for our winter. my brugs
stays outside and I throw a blanket over them when
the temperature is going to drop down to freezing.
none of my Brugs goes into a dormant state some
may slow down a little but always some Blooms
somewhere around the yard.
Chocolate Brug
I can't even imagine zone 9, Florida, droping to freezing. LOL
Jeanette
I will talk to both of you. That is very interesting, You are right Jeanette,
e don't think of Florida freezing tho I'm aware that it does.
Now you, Young lady , I am quite sure you probably have to bring some of yours in, Right?
I'm not to far from William, this is just my second year for Brugs. I am just in love with them
We haven't had a freeze yet but DH says in a couple of weeks.
How long do you have to wait, William?
If you all have a pice to throw away, You can throw one my way ^_^
I will be glad to trade, I have a pink Noid that bloomed for me all summer. She never had a name.
but she has been a Good one for me. I also have a white one, that is a later bloomer. I leave both of these out.
Got any more pic. William or Jeanette? Here is my baby when she was all one piece. I have above the Y cutting weill be glad to
share. You will love her. d-mail me if you want. Thank you both for answers
Charleen
Pink Smitty is very pretty!
Charleen, Normally we will have our first freeze around the middle
Of January or Around the First Of February.
Even when our temperature dip around the freezing mark at night
the Following morning we are normally right back in the high 60's.
Which is perfect growing condition for my Brugs
You never know about our Florida weather we had a whooping
96 Degrees here on Thursday Talking about a scorching hot day
I bout died with the heat .
Around 11 am I walk outside and were trying to figure out
why my Brugs was all wilting pretty bad. the day Before I
Sprayed them and thought that I made the spray a little to
Strong.
At 11 am here Thursday morning the temperature were
Already around 88 Degrees. normally most of my Brugs
Fair very good under the Florida sun But for some reason
I think Because It was Foggy until about 10:30 then all of
Sudden the sun came out Blasting. I Really thing it was more
Of a shock to the Brugs.
Charleen, if you can be a little patience and give me a little time
I can share some cuttings with you. There is no need for you to
Send me anything. all of my Brugs are now Budded all up so
they are getting ready to flush
Right Now I am Working On Some Things For The Following

Chocolate Brug
No don't stop! bring in the photo's! I love them! Very pretty!
All of your brugs are beautiful.
Janice
William they are just Beautiful, I will be patient.
The pics had so many beautiful faces for one plant
that is what keeps us so enthralled by Brugs. What did you
spray them with? Maybe the weather will cool down and
your brugs will do much better.
They hang down in heavy clusters, so pretty.
Thanks
Charleen
Very nice.
Charleen, I could not dare to compare with William or anyone else in the south when it comes to growing brugs. You see, our growing season is from the first of June to mid October. Too short for the brugs. I have tried making them a houseplant, but because of my electric/wood heat the house is dry. The perfect atmosphere for spider mites. I will not have a plant that is not lovely with green leaves and if I am constantly battling spider mites, it is impossible to have a nice brug in the house.
As I said earlier, my brugs are ready to bloom just about the time our weather turns cold and I have to bring them in., And then, our winters are so long the plants get tired of sleeping and want to start growing and it is still too cold for them to go outside.
The only answer to my problem would be a greenhouse. But, in my cold country a greenhouse for a hobby is out of the question for my budget. So, I just try with a few brugs each year.
Jeanette
That is so true. Everything is out of budget, anymore. I can understand about the short growing period.
My Brug grew, and grew and finally got to about 6' then started the Y. I didn't think it would ever bloom, then it started and did
great until I cut the top out and brought it in the house. If I had known I could have left it a couple days longer .
I brought the top in, took all the leaves off and experienced the smell of the blooms about bedtime every night,
it was great. I"M hooked!! Jeanette, no doubt about it.
Charleen
Charleen, why did you cut the top out of it? Did you root the top? My goodness, you have the Y so you should have a good plant. How much did you cut out?
Is it one you would keep? Cut a piece out and root it if you can't root the top for some reason.
Jeanette
I was afraid it might freeze and I wanted to see it finish blooming and I was afraid if I didn't, I would not see it bloom.
but I did and it was worth it. Do You want a piece? You are welcome to it. It is so pretty.I don't think William will care if I post a pic.
Here she is. Then you will know.
Charleen
Charleen, you are great. But, no thanks, I rarely turn down the offer of a plant, but I have 7 brugs I am trying to winter over now and no room for any more. It is beautiful.
Now, did you cut off that Y??? You have a nice big Y there. If you didn't cut if off the plant, good. If you did, root it!!! Make a plant out of it because anything that grows from it should bloom right away.
Jeanette
O.k., it is blooming in the water but I will put it in peat
to root it. Yes, it is the Y.
Thank you, Jeanette
Charleen
Chocolate Brug, your plants are fantabulous!! Just beautiful!
Dee
Well, Charleen, finish enjoying it. It isn't going any where. After it is done blooming then root it.
Jeanette
William, the blooms your Brugs are producing are fantastic. What is the name of the stuffed pink bloom you posted at 3:49? It is gorgeous!
That one shows as 1:49 on mine Betty. William it is the 11th one down from the top. Counting all of them, not just yours. Looks like Pink Smitty again. Just a lighter one, maybe the lighting or time of day, etc.
Now that looks like my Pink Smitty did when it first bloomed. The top one looks like it now when it bloomed in the heat of the basement, but I had given it a dose of Rose fertilizer with systemic for the spider mites and it came out darker.
Jeanette
It's the 4th photo from the top.
Jeanette, I don't think it's Pink Smitty because Pink Smitty doesn't have very long tendrils and the stuffed Brug photo has tendrils to die for — very long — and the color seems to have a peachy overtone.
