Bon Bon Blooming in the Greenhouse today

Hamilton, OH

Hi Charlene, Dee &Jori
I went back outside for a while, good thing, I found the bug that was munching in the GH, it was some small slugs, well they are no more, it's good to see everyone here, time I get done with the leaves, I think I will have about 20 bags
good job on the plants Charlene, dee they are the burgandy coral bells, I got them for $1.00 each so I got 2 of them
Jori, I hope you feel better

Thats a lot of leaves Charleen.I should have worked on leaves today. My DH just told me that theres a chance of rain tomorrow. Our yard is completely covered again..can't tell it has been touched this year..lol.. Great price on the coral bells. I paid $2 for the yellow one, and probably could have gotten it cheaper, if I would have waited, but I have wanted it for 2 or 3 years, and this is the first time that I have seen it for sale here.I have been watching it like a hawk, for the price to drop...lol..
Two for the price of one...Good eye, Charleen!

Usually when I buy plants I look to see if there is more than one in there and if there is
I get it and can give the extra away. How about that?? You can't do it with all of them
but it makes the plant look lusher when they do it.

do you know what happens when you put a small pot of seedlings in a bigger pot with another Brug? well those roots comes out of the small pot & take root in the dirt of the bigger one, I pulled it out under it was those slugs, yuk
I hate those things
Elizabeth

Hamilton, OH

Charlene
that's a good find, hey girl I now have 3 clivia's getting ready to bloom, I will post pick's 2 of them are yellow & 1 orange

Do you know that coral bells are very easy to sow? I did last year and had a lots of plants this year. I think they need cold to germinate.

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

I hate slugs too, and I have more trouble with them here, than I did when I lived in the country.Last year I just started pouring table salt on them..lol. And every time I found a toad, I would put it in my problem spots.Even made a cute little toad house...hoping they would stay.. Can't wait to see your pics Elizabeth.
So, Charleen, what have you got for the goth garden, so far?
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Elizabeth, be sure to take pic. of the clivia. I know they are going to be
Beautiful. I found out what my hoya is. It is a carnosa "Tricolor" krimson
Queen. I fixed it a tag. It is so cute.

Jori, I grew some one year from seed...Dales strain, but the ones that I got were just plain green. They are pretty plants..nice scalloped leaves, but the blooms aren't much. Not as nice as the other coral bells. I usually cut them off as fast as they come.

Girls
you know I will take Pic's, Charlene did you leave your clivia all summer, I am sure you did, now put it in a sunny window or under lights, I looked at mine the the other day, I thought there was a maple leaf in there pulled on it, I was surprized that I had pulled a bloom, then I looked close, there were the buds, then I checked the other one sure enough there are buds on all 3

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Charleen,in the spring, I will try to root you some Elderberry black Lace, if you don't have it by then.It is a very pretty plant.I just put mine in this fall, so it hasn't bloomed for me yet, but I can hardly wait. It has pink blooms.

Very pretty. Today i saw several houses that had Brugs in front of them.
I wanted all of them. i didn't dare say anything to DH he was showing me some of ones I missed.
We even turned around and went back to look at one grouping. See how he is?
He's a keeper.
Charleen

Hamilton, OH

Charlene
yes if he does that he's a keeper, so many DH's are jealous, of the plants, it only took 20 yrs, for mine too come around
but once he saw the Brugs he was hooked
Elizabeth

Hamilton, OH

Charlene
would you believe those Brugs went from clippings to 7-8 ft in one season, those are the first ones I gave to the university, next year Super spot & painted Lady goes in that spot, I am ammending the soil next week
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Charlene
you're lucky, I have to buy the cow manure, I am also adding top soil, if you can find a broken bag it's 58 cents

Dee
they were you could sit on the porch at night, that fragrance was amazing, that's why DH doesn't mind when I spend $ for their care
Elizabeth

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

You know the cutting I brought in. They are just about
bloomed all they can. I think I have one bloom left. I have smelt it better
here in the house than I did outside. It is so neat.
I love them.
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Yeah, Charleen add that donkey manure!I have to buy mine too, but we borrow the son in laws truck and buy it by the scoop. It makes such a difference, in your planting beds.
My husband llikes anything that blooms all summer. That's one reason that I'm hoping for earlier blooms next summer.
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Charlene
that's the best smell ever, when you know they're done Blooming, & you can smell them in your house, but next spring you will have a lot more of them
Elizabeth

Hamilton, OH

Dee
