On some of the threads we have been on, there has been discussion biennials.
Correct me in my spelling! Help me (you) to know the difference between a perennial, an annual, a bi, and the things inbetween!
Some examples of a bi are hollyhocks, sweet williams....there are more, but just giving these for examples.
So ok, I brought it to the attention of the admins asking them where is the forum for them, they took me here, now what?
New forum needed? Biennial or Biannuals Forum anyone?
Blossom, they put you here so that you can determine if many people have an interest. I suspect most people will be more interested in families of plants like in the many forums already available. The differences are simple. An annual grows, flowers and seeds in one year (temperate climate) , a biennial grows, overwinters , and flowers and seeds in the second year. Perennials are multiyear plants in their native habitats, but many are grown as annuals in temperate zones ( tomatoes , peppers, sweet potatoes for example) Some of the old time hollyhocks are perennial altho most of the showy modern ones are biennials. Trees and shrubs will be perennials.
Thanks! Hope that helps everyone!
