Thanks, Venice. That is crinum americanum, swamp lily.

I don't think I'll tell ages....grin discretion and valor and all that good stuff....grin

Keaau, HI

Hi Jean!

So that's a close-up of the native. Is it indigenous in your area?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Yes Sir....so much so it often gets treated as a weed. I think it is one of the only running crinums

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Nice swap! Very elegant weed

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Well, ya know how it goes, One man's weed is another's rose.....grin. Thanks Venice

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I don't mind telling my age but you'll never see a picture!!! LOL
Like the lily moon. You have such pretty flowers.

Think its time to goodnight, so I can do it all again tomorrow.
Stay warm and dry and safe everyone.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

JJ, night and hope you keep warm!

Keaau, HI

Pretty cool Jean!

All the "Old World" Crinum's I have are clumpers. Looks like I better check out the difference between Crinum in the Neo-tropics.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

That whole pink thing must be one blossom. Is it one blossom per plant?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Does it have seeds?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

That is somewhere around 20 or so blooms on a single stalk.

Keaau, HI

Hey Jean, I have several types: C. asiaticum, C. asiaticum var. 'Traubii' (the "red one"), C.augustum, & C. x powellii starts I could dig up. They would grow in your area.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Had to look one more time.

Wow Dave even I want one of those!!! But not in the house, do you think it will like snow.LOL

OK off I go with red and white flowers to dream of with sunshine and temps over 40.
I'll be snug as a bug in a rug.
Nite All

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Appreciate that Dave, I have Asiaticum and powellii and somewhere out there C. zeylanicum (milk and wine).

I would love a start of augustum and Traubii and will be happy to share any I have.....

Keaau, HI

Hey JJ, they could survive as a greenhouse plant in your area. They like to be warm & have lots of water. Naturally, Crinums are wetland plants.

I'll go get some photos of what is here right now.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Seed, congratulations on your new soil!!!! Night! Stay warm up there!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hey Imzadi...good to see you. Hope you are feeling better. I can share Crinums with you too if ya want....be a springtime thing to let them get settled in. Unfortunately we don't have the luxury of warm winters that Dave has...

Night Seed...too welcome and good to see ya as always....rest well.

Keaau, HI

Here is Crinum augustum, showing it's typical falling flower spikes, too heavy to stay upright.

This is the historical "Queen Emma Lily". Nicely scented.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Coffee break time. Good morning all. Touched base with Lynnie, her FIL had a bit of a set back. Seems he incurred a few more injuries than they were aware of....some broken ribs and bruising....they were at the hospital all weekend and Lynnie stayed with her FIL most of the time. Remember him please in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Everybody have a great day....workin' like a bunch of bees....grin
