it is a hardy tree - the shelter will help - some burlap over the shelter could give it some extra protection and cover the trunk so mice or RABBITS do not get to it:)

Finally getting some color. We don't have the brilisant reds and oranges here. Too much brown in our colors.

viridis that has gone with green to yellow w/inaba to the right - i have moved out the endless summer hydrangea that was blocking the viridis and will move the IS jm next spring

forgot to get a pic of the new katsura - i can see if from here and it has great color - have decided to move a dissapointing crab apple (this will be its third move, flowers are dirty white) out for the katsura.

How big does a Beni Kawa get?
beni kawa can get up to 10' tall - can you see this area from the house? if so the bright red winter branches will give you something to look at against the snow.
otherwise a red jm would give you color the rest of the year.
