We got Coco as a young kitten and she was the sweetest thing as a youngster and "only child". Her personality began to change when we adopted more cats into the family. She was okay with the first addition, and tolerated a feral kitten of @ ten days old that we had to bottle feed. Then we inherited my Mother in laws two elderly cats, and then when my Mom passed we inherited my mom's cat! They were all old and began to go to kitty heaven. We have only one left now (My Mom's Princess) who should have been named Queen because she wants to rule the household. From day one, she hated the other cats and now that they are gone she walks around loudly meowing as if calling for them! Cats sure are interesting critters! I'd love to have a dog in the family again ... it's been a long time since we've had a canine. I go out to our local shelter once a month to donate dog food and cat food and when I was there last week they had lots and lots of puppies ... it was hard to walk away empty handed! But, I think I'm getting to old to contend with a puppy so if we do adopt a dog it will probably be an older one ... which is a good thing too as usually no one wants the older ones and they are euthanized, most folks are looking for puppies.
October Gessies
Hi,I got a note from Gail. She's been in Austin with her son for a few days and will be home tommorow.
I told her she should extend her stay, so that we could meet up at the Austin show/sale on Saturday . . . I don't think she's going too, though!
Thanks Jim for the info on the seeds .. Do I cover them when I put them in there tray? Nic, that would be nice if Gail can stay and go to the show with you...
Hugs,
Susan
Hi alls,
many, many thanks for your nice words.
Plantladylin, you have the reason: Romo is like Coco. And she is also a "girl". We adopted her (with this name) five years ago with another catty (Tigresa), both sterilized. Romo had psychical problems when becames at home and a bad retationship with other cats and humans, according to the keepers. She is very free and independent and sometimes really funny, but we have not any problem now .
Well, "in topic":
I am a question: my gloxiniasī"potatoes" canīt stop to give leaves. During two years they are potted whitout a break ant twice flowered in summer. I have take out them and, after a weeks, this is the aspect.
ŋMust I reppoted? ŋLet it dry? ŋMake new cuttings? I donīt know.
Hi All,
I have a stupid question for Mamina ^_^ What are shipping laws in your country? Can someone send you streps or is that not allowed? I just wanted to know...LOL Hey if I don't ask I don't know....LOL
Hugs,
Susan
PS. beautiful streps Mamina
It is not a stupid question, but an interesting matter. From USA to EU there are very restrictive laws about plants delivery. American nurseries (these I know) donīt admit plant orders from Europe; but seeds only.
From Europa to USA I donīt know how the laws are. If you can order plants to EU nurseries, it is possible you can also received other plants from particular gardeners.
Many thanks for thinking in my strepts.
Maybe, some european member DG can give us more information.
Kiss, Ana
Welcome Ana ^_^ !! Your plants are lovely. Your potatoes or tubers can be divided to make more or you can pot it back up to make 1 huge plant.
Lynn
Susan: There are apparently very strict laws regarding shipping live plant material to different countries. Here's some info that might be helpful: http://davesgarden.com/tools/trading_primer/5/
I remember when I first joined DG there was a lady here on the AV forum that told about shipping AV's to a DG'er in Canada. She had not filled out the proper forms and had not purchased a phytosanitary certificate. Her plants were confiscated at the border and she said she had to pay a fine!
Thank you so much for answering my questions about shipping... Also welcome to the forums... I was not sure if you were new or was I out to lunch like always and missed you posting...LOL
Oh Lin, I know there are very strict laws but wanted to know if someone marked a package say to Ana that had candy in it do they always open things and check? When I shipped to Iraq (the hell hole) for my son and then others we were not suppose to ship allot of things but we did.. they never opened anything... Also one of the ebay ladies ships from Canada all the time... She put that she has different things in the box then what is really in the box...Gosh this got winded ...LOLOL Well Ana who knows maybe someone will try to ship you a plant or two LOLOLOL Hey not me of course...LOLOL I would never do such a thing... yeah right...LOL What is the weather there now like Ana?
Hugs,
Susan
PS. I will as Bonnie our mail lady about the laws..she will know..

Hugs,
Susan
Many thanks, Lynn. I am going to repotted the "potat" . Thanks.
Susan, for an innocent way, I am traying to send some seeds to Chile. They are recquised for three times. Only once, one year ago, my chilean friend (a lady Infojardin forum member), could have my seeds. I have sent and received to Costa Rica, Mejico, Colombia and República Dominicana without problems. I am affraid for the USDA laws, and now also for the chilean ones.
Weather here, now : Wonderfull, sunny, 15šC, wet.....good for growing seeds and seedlings. We have a Zone 10 a.
Now it is 11:37 am. and this is the wiew from my PC:
Kiss you alls.
Welcome Mamina ^_^
It is possible for US citizens to get an import permit for small lots of seed from the USDA. It is free and can be done mostly online. One does need to go to the local extension office and present ID to finalize the application process. For me that was the most difficult part. Takes about 10 days to get the permit and shipping labels in the mail. You then just send a copy of the permit and a label to the individual/business you are importing seeds from. Instructions to the shipper are on the permit, basically they need to send: the permit and a list of the seeds with origin info for each, no phyto needed. The seeds are inspected when they reach the USA and then forwarded on to you. Sure beats getting that empty envelope with the USDA confiscation letter!
Hi mamina
hey if you want your rescuded plants to recover quicker, remove the flowers, thats way the energry to recover will be used for that instead of flowering, when i have a sick or stressed plant thats blooming or a young one that i want to get bigger,i cut off buds,so its energy can be
put into root growth and leave out put
Thanks Hillbilly; thanks Bigoldbuck : I removed the flowers from my four rescuded streps, for the reason you say. Two (pictures) look very happy and flowered again. At first outdoor and in the greenhouse now. The other two:
- I divided one of them in some babies after a tratement for fungus. They are well and growing alls nice. I donīt know how its flowers look like.
-The other one had also fungus. I treated it, removed the flowers (pink with yellow throath) and it is already for blooming again.
With gloxinia seeds, I ordered also to Junglesseds, some saintpaulia ionantha seeds.
I think you have sowed this plant anytime. I never had. This is the experience of one of Infojardin members:

Hi Ana,
Nice to see you back.I am happy your seeds have done well.
Kiss back,

Good going, Ana!!!! My gloxinias aren't looking so hot right now. I may find they are too difficult for me to grow and they take up so much space..........(I do love them, though)
