Poor leaves! You-know-who in Boerne suggested that I give it a drench of some Green Light iron and soil acidifier stuff . . .

these are so pretty Nichole! Did you grow them from leaves?
Love Bob Serbin! I'll be glad when my leaf grows to maturity!

i miss bule dragon,

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Wow.......those look awesome, Nichole. Thanks for showing us. Someone in the Baltimore club said to use 1/8tsp of Miracid on streps.......and it worked!!! sounds like that would do the same as what Ken told yu to do.................maybe even better (but don't try it because I said it).......please. (LOL

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

The Bristol's Solar Wind and Rob's Plaid Skirt I ordered from Violet Barn in August. Cool Blue (I think) I grew from a leaf. Bob Serbin and Blue Dragon were from a trade earlier this year. Frozen In Time . . . I don't remember where I got it! I know I've had it about a year.

Is that a hint, Jim? ^_^

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Miracid, miracid . . . do I have that? I'll go look . . .

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I do have some Miracid! I had bought it at an Ace Hardware when we first moved into the apartment, to help with some plants outside that I thought maybe needed it. Used it once or twice, and forgot about it!

Highland, IL

oh so pretty, you know I have and LOVE Blue Dragon!! I have a leaf of Frozen in time down right now, i got it from reeds. I had Bob Servin, and killed it!

Biggoldbuck, you have mail!

Gail, I'm happy to know the Miracid worked! I started the same time as you and my streps look better too. Miracid is a keeper. LOL

Williston, ND

i bought some too and i havent used it but im going too,

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Thanks Sally!

Do you think it's ok to use on the AV's, then?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I don';t have any idea................it was raisingsouls that said her club president said to use 1/8 tsp per gallon on streps.............you might want to ask her if she said anything about avs...........all it does it bring down the ph of the plant.................(the soil that is)

I only use it like once a week on my streps and then use 20-20-20 the rest of the time..........

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

YIKES.........NICHOLE...... I looked on the box and Miracid has 27% urea in the nitrogen.......dont' you dare use that on avs..............

Grand Forks, BC(Zone 5b)

This is my Peach Perfect. Received her as a plug in April, half frozen and so forlorn. She has rallied and made me so proud. ^_^

Peach Perfect (N. Blansit) Semidouble light peach-pink frilled pansy/some gold edge. Medium green, quilted. Standard

I need to look up 'Ice Berg Blues'. I bet either Brenda or Jim sent me this leaf. You can tell how far I am behind in planting up babies when you see this baby (or plant)...............

Don..........nice pink!

Nichole.....you are really getting good at this.....I still can grow streps easier than pretty avs.

Gail,
I still have a tub with leaves I put down months ago and are now blooming because I have not put them in pots yet...LOL I am going to send Jan them... I so far have four or five diffrent ones for her... LOL
Nice Picture... I think I have that one.. Not sure..
Hugs,
Susan

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Isn't this just ridiculous!!! I am happy you are sending them to Jannich...........I am going to send you babies when I find time. That was so nice of you to include plants.

Also........you all have to help me be creative. My sister in law just called to say that church is having a bazaar the first week of December and are asking people to rent a booth for 25.00 and a small percentage goes to the church of everything you sell.

I love these minis and semi minis I buy from Fred on ebay but would never go back to ebay and sell them when they bloom. Now that wouldn't be kosher.......so I am going to sell them in full bloom at the bazaar. I need ideas for the little tiny bloomers to make them look (not like Christmas) but just in cute containers of some kind. (something that doesn't cost a lot of money)

I am going to debud all of them this week and then let them come back and they should be in full bloom by the first week of December.

This is Lyon's Fireworks , a semi mini that needs her bottom leaves taken off and the plant groomed.

Gail - just get some of that metallic wrapping paper, and wrap the pots with it. It doesn't even have to be neat . . . put a little bow in front, and there you go!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I just thought of something, Nichoole............I used to take them to the church for the homebound...and I have a picture I think............they did look cute.......with little ribbons.........

Did you know I am so stubborn I spent 10 minutes looking for that picture I took for the church avs. But your idea of metallic paper is even cuter.......and I could still use a little of the curl ribbon you do with the scissors........thanks

It's halftime in the football game, so here's a few pictures real quick! LOL

Phinastema multiflora 'Tracery' Such a little cutie! I love the leaves!

Thumbnail by RainGazer

x Smithicodonia 'Heartland's Joy' It took forever to bloom, but it sure is pretty!

Thumbnail by RainGazer

And finally, I haven't bought an AV in a store in what seems like forever! LOL But when I went to Lowe's yesterday, I saw this one and had to get it! It's 'Rhapsodie Michelle'. I had it ages ago, but it died. I'm really happy to have it again.

Amy, I love the Phinastemma! How did you acquire that one- seed?

I'm surprised Lowe's had such a beautiful named AV!

Williston, ND

i uesed to grow iceberg blues,i dont think its dales as she named her variagates iced
that was a few years ago though

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

There was another name with Dale's name, Jim.....I just didn't put it down and now I don't remember.
It says Morgan/Martens

Williston, ND

she gave some of her varigate seeds out,she gets the credit for hybridizing them and the person who grew it out

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Jim, I am really getting pretty excited about Goldleaf's crosses.........there are some magnificent blooms........here is one tonight..........I don't know what to do about them as Goldleaf isn't here and she doesn't answer my emails at home....I guess I will just keep letting them bloom....they get better all the time.

They are just babies but the blooms are strong and healthy with all yellow centers...you can't really see the yellow in here......will take another picture tomorrow........I promise that some of these are much prettier than the ones we buy on vendor's sites.......

Gail,
Does the church you go to have a day care on Sundays? Maybe the bigger tots could paint some yogurt cups with xmas colors and then maybe more "mom" would want to buy them because there child made them? Hey its late and that's as good as it gets at this hour....LOL
Hugs,
Susan

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

YOur thinking at this hour sounds pretty sound and good to me!!!!!

Really now...Is this normal?? Strep 'Cape Essence' That is a regular piece of printer paper under each leaf. 8.5 x 11 inches Do you see how GIANT this thing is?? Is it supposed to be this big? And I've got the pieces of paper laying in the pot, at the base of the leaves, propped up from underneath, so there's no optical illusion to make it look bigger.

Thumbnail by RainGazer
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

That is the way she grows.........until she blooms, she won't add more leaves, but Jim said that isn't right........so I don't know.

So far I have Cape Essence which grows this way..........Dale's Scarlet McCaw and one more.........oh I know.......Big Yolk does the same thing.........

I measured Dale's Scarlet McCaw with only one single leaf and she was 15" so I whacked her good when I sent out strep leaves.........now, maybe she will get some more leaves.
