It is my turn again to start a new Daily pics thread. It is just a wee bit early but I have to run to the dentist first thing tomorrow and should be gone a good part of the day, so rather than have the current thread run too long, I need to start the new thread now. Here is a link back to the previous thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1041487/ There are some great photos there. Burn and Gary posted a couple of real beauties late last night. If you haven't seen them, you should.
The gold finch have already gotten their winter coats. My niger feeder is empty, so they are working the cone flowers.

DAILY PICS VOL 247
Yep, Chipping Sparrow; it is into winter plumage now, duller / browner (particularly on the cap) than in summer.

Great shots Dave! I love seeing the Nuthatch too. Thanks for starting the new thread!
Gary, Loved your shots in the last thread!
I still don't have many birds around the yard. Saw about 50 geese fly over this a.m. and a Belted Kingfisher down on one of the ponds with my binocs. Haven't seen the hummers today, they may be gone.
Still have some Scissor-tails around, but not as many. I did see lots of young ones this year.
Think we will do a little birding tomorrow down on the S. Canadian River and check for shore birds. We try to do a little outing at least weekly.
Great photos in the last thread everyone!!
Dave, hope the dentist appt. went well. Your photos sure make a wonderful start to this thread. I love the splash in picture! I'll be sorry to see all your little ones completing their molts, they're so cute. I've been enjoying the Goldfinches on my dried blooms too-cute photo.
Reddirt, your bird is beautiful. I've never seen one of these in person and they're so pretty.
Here's more photos of the Western Grebe families.
Great shots guys!
Love your scissor-tail, Red!
Duc, I adore those Grebes and the Titmouse is very cute! Great catch on the Starlings!
Duc the Wester Grebes look like 2 cobra snakes. Nice photos everyone. It seems like business is picking up again.
Another pair.
The one on the right is half-way to being a Clark's - maybe a hybrid

A lot of great pictures, beautiful Scissor-tailed, and Grebes, and the Blue bird. Dave thanks for a wonderful start of this new thread.
I had a pleasant surprise this morning. Hubby came home, and told me, there was a big Woodpecker across the street. When and look, and seen this Pileated Woodpecker on the Electricity pole, facing our house. I was able to get this one shot. Hope he come back. I'll have the table set for him.
Great shots Al!
I have never seen a mountain or western BB and your shots of the western are as good as any of those I have seen in pictures. Makes me want to pack a bag and head out there. I started to pick a favorite but, heck! All five are good. Congratulations.
Great Shots All! Didn't know my eyes could see that well. lol Nice Variety, have never seen some of these birds before.
Thanks for the new thread Dave and the beautiful shots too!!
I agree that there is a great variety on this thread.
Dave can you see any differences between the Eastern and Western Bluebirds? I figured you'd know since you have lots of experience with them.
